i've literally just started carp fishing with virtually zero knowledge, i've been at it for maybe two and a half months now, and even i could see that this thing is an absolute danger, we as fishers have a duty to cause as little damage as we can to the fish, lakes, and surrounding environment, it's good to actually see this thing tested and confirmed to be the danger people thought it would be, hopefully fishery's are quick to get this thing banned. as you say, we are out here putting hooks in fishes mouths, we ARE doing damage, so every single step we can take to minimize our impact should be taken to counteract the impact we have, on that note, i am already shocked at the amount of line and stray tackle i've picked up that people have just left sitting around.
funny how many people seem to have completely missed the point of the video, or are seemingly unable to visualize what is going on here, yes, the twig is on backwards, because the potentially snagged fish would be pulling the twig from the bottom end, not the top. this video simulates what would happen if a fish was pulling the rig around if it had come free of the main line. obviously people won't put it on backwards normally, as i have seen some say, but that's got nothing to do with the point of the video, the point is, if the FISH itself is pulling the rig that has come off the main line, it WILL snag itself, and then it WILL die.
I'm honestly lost for words .I wasn't go to purchase these any way only because it's to much mechanics on a rig for me .but after watching this I'm even more surprised Ali has brought this to the market
Ali said they would snap and tried to do it, they didn't snap, then he tried hiding it off screen, blokes a con man, can't stand him after how his gone about this !
After reading all the comments to the video i would say this. Buy or make decent bait. Fish a rig correct to the lake. Bait according to the lake. Don't just rock up and fish the closest swim. Walk the lake for at least an hour. Observe the lake. Talk to those who are fishing. There isn't a magic potion to catch fish, it's patience and water craft. That is basically it.
Catching at any cost we already have bait boats GPS sonar drones whats next an automatic rod striker with a reel that plays the fish for you and gives you a notification when it's time to land it
Whatever happened to the art of fishing ? If your that desperate to catch fish go to your average day ticket water where the fish are over stocked and mutilated by being caught 3 or 4 times a day .
Fish safety is a massive part of fishing these days and yes any rig can be made unsafe in the wrong hands but there are tonnes of videos on TH-cam on how to fish safely But this is always unsafe and there is no way of making it safe so for me I would class it as a death rig

Good video mate. My initial thoughts are that this wouldn't be something i would want to use in my fishing. After seeing it remove weed quite well, your lead set up with one of these might be a better way to remove weed than some cast-able rakes!

I’m just dreading the thought of fishery post showing dead carp with this death trap attached to its lip weighted down with debris. Ban this across the board NOW.
Not surprised at all by this as it was obvious from the first time we saw this contraption that it was unsafe for this very reason. How people can dispute this fact is beyond me but so many people just don't understand or don't care which is worrying.
I'll be honest I bought to try, alao bout the Nash Trigger link bungee style underline for same testing. Reflecting on this agree with the assessments and I won't be using the Twig. I didn’t even think about it from this aspect you raise a great point. I don’t think they are any good because why would you need to basically harpoon the fish in the mouth. We’ve been catching fish without them for years so it’s just a gimmick to waste more money.
But if you cast a rig out then reeled in slowly wouldn’t you pick up the same amount of line same could be said for a lead clip where people put the tail rubber on to much I don’t see people pushing to ban lead clips
This would only help with snap offs when the fishes strength causes it (eg poor angling), it won’t help with break offs that occur higher up the mainline, or at a knot, or after getting locked up in weed.
Disgusting product designed to catch daft anglers, the carps welfare was so far down the list of priorities when this pointless contraption was made. Just use the hermit rig as this is designed to keep the fish hooked as it shakes its head, the magic twig doesn't go off half the time when the bait is picked up anyway even the picture on the packet shows the triggers not been released
My mate has a couple, the legs have a ridge behind them... this kind of acts like a bit of reinforcement, I don't think they'll break off easily.... definitely not for me I'm afraid
It must become carp fishing law to shout "anchors away" every time you get a take with one of these attached to your terminal tackle .... all design should be fish care up ...
I'm confused though. Ali caught 30 fish in one session with this device and had no issues...??? I understand the concern but surely people are making an issue out of nothing. It is a device that does what it says it does. People trying to slander and defame the man for providing a product that idiots will happily buy and use is shameful in itself. Grow up mate. You've just wasted your time making this video.
30 fish in one session? Really? That’s the first time I’ve heard that and I spoke directly to Ali. Regardless, I’ve never questioned the effectiveness of it hooking fish in my videos. I’m glad you understand the fish safety concern that I’m making. Many people don’t/didn’t. And that was the reason for making the videos. Once people understand the potential risks of their rigs then they can make a decision if they want to use it. I’m just providing my views and opinions. And then people can make their own minds up.
As an angler of 45 years experience, i often wonder how i have ever caught any fish without such "inventive ideas" ??? Drones, bait boats, baiting poles 50 plus metres long, underwater cameras, now magic twigs, that resemble " gripper leads used in sea fishing that are designed to snag the sand". This isn't fishing or hunting nowadays, whats next? Carp heroin? Where do you draw the line... This is an invention no one ever needed to start with. Give the carp some respect. Start looking at first of all is it ethical to stick a hook into a living creatures mouth that scares the crap out of it that it changes it's feeding habits and has to hide in snags to feel safe 24/7, anyone who has watched carp over bait knows how on edge and scared they become. Come on give the poor sods some respect, if every time you ate your dinner you got jabbed with a hidden piece of metal that cut your mouth up it would drive you insane...are carp any different your eyes watching carp feeding are telling you they are stressed and scared. Start there nevermind inventing bullshit products that do nothing but make greedy men profits. Angling has lost it's way.
Great vid!!! I'm an advocate of people trying new things and hats off to those who succeed, but with devices like this, whether or not its a good thing for some is another question, after all we still have people who cant remove a micro barbed hook properly from a fishes mouth without damaging the fish, so god help us with this
It's a gadget bought out to catch the angler and to make a fast buck. When you look at the production costs and the retail price you only need several thousand anglers trying it and it amounts to millions in someone's bank account.
I don't think that's safe to fish with. My thinking is when you get a take the fish will bolt off for the nearest weed bed or snags. With them arms open it will clog both arms and get tethered up. Most waters have got boat bans on them so that means you have to go for a pull ( not sex like) but if line brakes that fish is still tethered up in weed or snags. Dead fish. It's the same as if you should crack off on cast. That set up is not for me.
@@richardtofts4977because then it would be a grappling hook on every retrieve. The item is flawed throughout and should not be put in any lake. Its such a risk to fish.
Horses for courses. Use it only in a lake with no weeds or snags with very weary fish. It’s an option to use when it suits the situation. Not a 100% dedicated switch for anyone to make.
With all due respect, the gentleman turned the montage upside down! That is, he didn't set the montage correctly. If none of you noticed that, you couldn't wait to spit on someone.
I have intentionally rigged it up back to front to demonstrate what would happen if a fish was tethered when the rig was used the right way around. Watch the video again mate :)
I’ve caught plenty of fish with other hooks in them never had one with a full rig in it barbed hooks are the worse then anything and everyone uses them
The difference is a lead is designed to be released in a crack off so the fish doesn't drag it around with it. Watch the whole video and it should make sense but shout if you need me to explain it more mate :)

Thought about getting some of these but after that mate no f__king way they are dangerous for the fish ban them
He should’ve called it the weedwacker cos it’s great for getting weed out of your peg 😂
Just found my new weed rake cheers mate great video
No I get ya now bud I’m with you ,,, if you have a crack off or loose a fish due to breakage
Great vid!!! I'm an advocate of people trying new things and hats off to those who succeed, but with devices like this, whether or not its a good thing for some is another question, after all we still have people who cant remove a micro barbed hook properly from a fishes mouth without damaging the fish, so god help us with this
i would like to see you point the rod flat and reel
I can't see why it couldn't have been oriented to the arms opened the other way, and would be forced closed under pressure.
@@richardtofts4977because then it would be a grappling hook on every retrieve.
The item is flawed throughout and should not be put in any lake. Its such a risk to fish.
We have to use tubing to protect the fishes flanks , so maybe the twig isn’t such a money making blind mistake😂
That's a tethered dead fish all day long
Horses for courses. Use it only in a lake with no weeds or snags with very weary fish. It’s an option to use when it suits the situation. Not a 100% dedicated switch for anyone to make.
A sensible suggestion Dennis. Some will choose to use it and some won’t. Same as all other rigs.
With a carp attached to the end it would be no more than usual amount of weed...!!
Why didn't they test this 1st.not sure the point in this 😅
With all due respect, the gentleman turned the montage upside down! That is, he didn't set the montage correctly. If none of you noticed that, you couldn't wait to spit on someone.
The rig was intentionally set up back to front to demonstrate what could happen if there was a snap up and the fish was tethered to the Twig.
Every system can be potentially dangerous, but ok what would happen if it was
But when the fish is attached to the end it would be pulling it the other way
I have intentionally rigged it up back to front to demonstrate what would happen if a fish was tethered when the rig was used the right way around. Watch the video again mate :)
Great video but aren't you using it the wrong way? The quick link should be to the hook end not the way you have it setup..
I’ve set it up back to front intentionally to demonstrate what would happen if there was a snap up and the fish was left dragging the rig around :)
Interesting, I wonder how long this product will be on the market for... Great idea but fish safety comes first. @@thefishingdiary
you do realize the fish will be pulling the other way so the arms will be the other way for the fish.
No mate - they wont be - watch the video again or maybe check out the video short on my page as theres a diagram in there that explains it :)
He's invented a mini weed rake ,,,😮
I’ve caught plenty of fish with other hooks in them never had one with a full rig in it barbed hooks are the worse then anything and everyone uses them
So it brings in about the same amount as a lead when coming through thick weed?
The difference is a lead is designed to be released in a crack off so the fish doesn't drag it around with it. Watch the whole video and it should make sense but shout if you need me to explain it more mate :)
ali was crying when this was released.... he will he crying again when the bank manager comes knocking for his loan back 😆
He should recall them back to be destroyed and never mentioned again back to the drawing board ali 😂
Basically using social media to solely draw awareness to products has bitten Ali on the bum. Less could well have been more
Brilliant video
