Loving these videos. Did you use pex pipes and fittings for the plumbing? Also with a concrete floor, what is the best way to create a slope for water to run towards the drain? I'm hoping to make a barrier less entrance into the shower. What do you think? Thanks James.

I think that's what the plumbers used, may have been a different brand through, cant quite remember sorry. Generally you can only create the fall in the concrete when its originally laid, unless you use a concrete grinder that can be expensive.
You shouldnt need it though, a membrane can be laid over a level concrete slab, and the tilers will create fall in the 40mm sand and cement screed that they lay over the top of the floor before they lay there floor tiles.

Thanks James. So would that mean almost the entire floor of the bathroom will be raised by 4cm if you go for a barrier less style of shower entrance?

Just a little tip for the plumbers. After the rough in on the new bathroom, in an existing home, just make sure all mixing valves are in the off position before you leave. If just one is "on" you will cause a "cross connection" and cancel out any hot water flow to any hot taps in the house. Happens all the time. Even put some tape on the stems to stop the waterproofer from accidentilly nocking them on. I specialise in hot water repairs and I've experienced this on a lot of Reno's .

Have you seen the already pre prepared plastic inserts for the wall inserts they make the waterproofing a sure thing on the inside of the nook as there is no need to do it as the insert is a total item and tiling a lot easier and neater as well.Going to use these on the SIPS Panel house bathroom.

I've done the demolishing part of bathroom reno and waiting for plumber to finish roughing in. Just wondering which order cement sheet n plaster board goes in. Cement sheet on floor first, then plaster board on walls or vice versa?

Hey mate, just wondering what size pipes you used for the bathroom ? Are they 20mm pex or 16mm ? Thanks

I like to use the plastic angles behind the sheeting in the corners and floor junctions, place around the perimeter before the wall sheeting and sika down to the floor then the angles in the corner overlap the floor ones, sika the junctions then waterproof under the screed and again under the tiles. I know waterproofing is a subject in itself but the most important component in any wet area reno in my opinion. Great video James

Cheers mate, yeah that is a great method as well!
In the part 2 video you see more of our waterproofing going in, we used an angle at the floor over the sheets and bandage all joints and corners and apply two coats of membrane everywhere.
Your right though, there are so many methods. Either way attention to turn ups and water stops are also required as this is one of the most critical stages in any bathroom. Get the waterproofing wrong and your in for a world of headaches in years to come.
Take care bud, thanks again for watching!

    Hi,
For bathroom renovation, can we remove only part of Gyprocke (section which has related to shower and vanity and plumbing) rather than all walls gypock inside bathroom? And then do rest of the renovation process?
    What do you recommend?

Hi! Can I use moisture plasterboard in the bathroom and after that tiles? I've heard that the water will infiltrate in the walls in time. Is that true? Thank you!
