Can I use Davco K10 sovacryl as final coat? I mean, from rough concrete wall finish, skim coat to make the wall smokth then to davco K10 as final coat?
me neither - wouldnt the tiles pull off the tape from the wall ? i mean there is no bonding at all between the membrane and the wall except for the tiny amount of the glue on the tape ? seems dodgey to me
The instructions on the k10 plus container are not clear and are causing arguments in the industry . The instructions need to clearly state that no reinforcing bandage is to be used whatsoever.
Darian The Mede I watched what they do in the US. Amazing amount of tape over lapped into every corner set in thin set then covered with two coats of waterproof membrane.
It`s too tricky to realize what exactly we have to use as a primer... On the bucket there is only a couple words telling that an appropriate primer from Davco can be used... But, it isn`t specified. No Bunnings team was helpful... And no reinforced fabric or bandages are available at all... Only from Cromelin and Bastion. Can or Can`t wqe use them with Davco- is a big secret :)))
Since when is waterproofing the whole shower wall mandatory? The Australia standard (AS3740) says waterproofing is only required to 150mm above floor level, plus the penetrations , ie, nail holes, horizontal joins and internal corner to 1.8m. The remainder only needs to be water resistant, ie, Villaboard. If you're going to do a video, please do it to the Australian standard rather than dreaming it up as you go along.
The requirements will depend on your state, but the NSW ones require a shower cubicle to be either waterproof or water resistant (depending on whether it's fully enclosed) up to 1800mm above the floor. @@Fr4nt1ck Your link says exactly what Steve said, and you argued. The requirements are 'National' as in AS3740, also exactly the same as your link. WR 'means' water resistant, for very good reasons. WP means waterproofed, as in 150mm up walls, the 1.8 m you mention refers to the corner only. Look at the picture !
If you follow the Australian Standards to the letter you can do as little as possible and not break the law, but it's ok to aim a little higher than that. Lots of people waterproof a lot better than this guy, nothing wrong with doing that.

And what about bond breaker (NC silicone) to the joints between the flooring sheets?
Where is membrane roll to put on corners ?
as a plumber , just watching you put that membrane around that mixer tap with no tape over it was making me think bad thoughts towards you
Thanks a lot now I know how to fix my bathroom
what is that special black tape? not well explained in my view.
Also, nobody in the building industry knows the difference between reinforcing bandage and bond breaker tape.
What waterproofing product should I use for an underground concrete cistern water tank?
No bandage between sheets
never seen duct tape used as reinforcing bandage before
As he said, it's functioning as bond breaker, and it was cloth tape not duct tape.

Notice he removed it then painted after ?

Class 3 membrane can use tape or silicone as a bond breaker, but needs to be 12mm wide bead in corners and joins

Your laziness is the reason people have to REDO their entire bathrooms.

I know I'll be going the full 1800. Why skimp? But then it is my own place, not working for others to a minimum standard.
Davco must love you doing incorrect system
And one more thing, bond breaker tape stopped being used after Adam and Eve left
The garden of Eden.
