  • 03/19/22 was the 40th anniversary of the passing of Randy Rhoads. I join his family, friends, and fans for a celebration of his life at his burial site at the Mt. View Cemetery in San Bernardino CA.
Randy's sister Kathy came out to speak about Randy and share stories of his life with all of his fans who came to remember him.
This really was the nicest group of people. Everyone I talked to was incredibly friendly and was having a great time talking about Randy and rock n roll. The end of the video has interviews with six of his fans I met that day talking about what Randy meant to them and how he impacted their lives.
As mentioned in the video, below is a link to a TH-cam video that I thought did a great job explaining the circumstances of his tragic and much too early death.

Blessed to see Randy with Ozzy in Phoenix in June '81 with Motorhead opening. I was 15. Great memories...

Damn that must have been a banger of a show! I missed the show he played in my state. Had tickets and couldn’t get out of something so I couldn’t go. I said I’ll see him next tour. That never happened he died a week later. My favorite guitarist of all time! R.I.P. Randy Rhoads 🖤🖤🖤🙏

seen Ozzy in concert back in early march of 1982 here in Arkansas during the diary of a madman mid-south tour in pine bluff Arkansas ,i was only 23 at that time never really heard of Randy Rhodes until myself and my best friend went to the concert in Pine Bluff ,i remember seeing Randy playing his guitar, i thought wow this guy is great, and was blow away during his solo, sadly a few weeks later i was on my way home from my work, and i heard on my truck radio that Randy had died in a plane crash in Florida, i was stun and shock driving home, what could of been if Randy had not passed away so young ,not only one of the best guitarist ever to play ,but also a great person from what i read about him, God Bless Randy

Thank you very, very much for posting this. I live in Pa and would love to be there some day to give my respects to my hero. I’m 53 now and he was in my life since I was 11/12 years old. He died when I was 13. I’ll never forget that terrible day... Can’t wait to meet him on the other side.

I have a rose from the bush beside his mausoleum. My wife's dad is across the way in the cemetery. And I went to see Randy everyday for months. I was hoping to see family or Ozzy. I threw my driver's license in the mausoleum and my guitar pick. I have RR tattoo on my hand. I was 14 when I knew randy was the greatest ever. I'm 50 now. I haven't changed my mind about that. I'm still his biggest fan. God bless you Randy

Cool. Yeah, like I said, this is my first time to this event, but I've been there many times before and I always see guitar picks, strings, flowers, kiss marks, etc in there. Maybe I've seen yours. Glad you like the video.

I never saw him play live but I was a big fan of his albums. I was 19 when he passed. He sort of represents a time in my life when things were good. When I was young and vibrant for the most part. Forty years later it is really nice to see people continue to share their memories. I think we all wish we could go back in time to that time if only for a short period but that's the thing about time, it keeps on ticking forward.

I'm thankful for Rhodes. Randy, inspired me to learn how to play the guitar. Few realize Randy was a huge Earl Klugh fan.

I went to the site of the crash on the 19th of March around time the crash happened 10 a.m. in Leesburg Florida to pay my respects. I was the only one there. Took some pictures outside the gates where the house was rebuilt and still stands. I heard the house is actually for sale now.

    Hello, I'm Ozie.
I really appreciate your video and I'm glad you got to make it out there for your first time. Over the years I became very close with the roads family I started attending around 1990 and at that point I lived in Arizona and it all started with me hitchhiking from Arizona just to make it out for the day and I had no money but I wouldn't show up without a single rose to give to Dolores which ended up becoming a dozen for Randy and Dolores every year since then. Dolores Rhodes was such a beautiful person and we hit it off right out of the gate and she was so honored that I brought the roses she would actually take them home with her. Kelle & Kathy have been amazing people in my life and I had the privilege of assisting with dolores's funeral which I think in my opinion is the highest honor they could have gave any fan. It's such a beautiful thing all these years later to see how Randy rhoads has impacted this world and one could only imagine what he would have accomplished had he lived, I just wanted to say I appreciate that you went and put up such a nice video of the people that attend there thank you for keeping his memory alive. Ozie Brayman

Yes, that was one the of things that blows me away is that 40 years has gone by and to still have this many people show up to honor you really says a lot about how he lived his life. It's an inspiration. There are very few people who have that much impact. This was my first time at this event and I wasn't sure what to expect, or if I was even going to make a video, but everyone I talked to was so nice and had so many stories about how Randy affected them, and so many people brought memorabilia to share, I found it truly interesting and I wanted to share that. I had a great time. Glad you enjoyed the video.

@@SoCalCreature he influenced millions, Blizzard of ozz the highest selling metal debut of all time. I think his legacy is growing with the countless bootlegs people have uploaded to TH-cam of the audio of various shows. The myriad of TH-cam guitarists who breakdown or play his music is passing down and exposing his music to younger and newer audiences.
You could ask 21 different fans his greatest solo and get 21 different answers, the charismatic Vince just did a breakdown of Crazy Train and her facial expressions on the guitar playing rivaled meg Ryan in when Harry met Sallie.

I know they are paying tribute to Randy Rhoads but why don't they celebrate and remember how he lived his life instead of remembering when and how he died!!!! Honor him by celebrating his Birthday which was December 6 1956!!!! But I get it!!!! Randy touched and influenced a lot of people!!!!😃😃😃😃🙂🙂🙂😊😊😊 But I still liked when the people shared "What Randy met to them moments and how it affected their lives!!!!"🙂😃😀😃🙂 I am amazed that all these people traveled from different parts of the U.S.A. to this event!!!!👍👍👍👍 God Bless Randy Rhoads!!!!

Several of the people I talked to the day I did this video mentioned that they also come here on his birthday. This was the first I had heard of that. Someone mentioned that there are not usually as many people there for his birthday because it's usually pretty cold.

EVH birthdate Jan 6, 7. or 9 1955 and RR was late December 1956.... So Ed was almost 2 years older... at least 20 or so months.
I also think RR did Over the Mountain before he was exposed to Fairwarning.

True, not great audio. All I have is a cell phone at this point, and it was a harsh audio environment. Mostly that backhoe that seemed have the reverse beeper running for 70% of this event and made a lot of the footage unusable. What you're seeing is the better part of the footage. Better mics will be one of my first upgrades once I can justify spending money on gear. Hopefully you'll check out some other videos. Either way, I appreciate the feedback.
