Colton Train Wreck : 25 Hours Later
มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Colton Train Wreck On 3/21/22 a freight train derailed in Colton CA at 7:30 AM. This footage was taken 25 hours later. The clean up was well under way but there was still a lot of work to do. None of the train cars had been removed from the site, and all of the freight debris was still on site. It looks like the main focus was to clear the tracks and get them functioning again. The wreckage cam...

Once we were out of harms way we visited the Ocean Institute's aquariums, touch tanks, and a sort of historical museum. ...
Snow In Redlands, We Get A Surprise Snowfall on 2/23/22

Today we had a surprise snow storm in Redlands. It lasted about 2 hours, but because the temperature remained at about 34 degrees none of it stuck to the ground for more than a few seconds. When my son and girlfriend texted me that it was snowing I grabbed my cell phone and drove up to Sunset Drive, which runs along the crest of the hills in Southern Redlands, and has the highest elevations. How are there coyotes in the island

    • @SoCalCreature
      @SoCalCreature ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure. The east side of the island is not too far of a swim from the main shore, so swimming wouldn't be too difficult. But Perris is a man made lake, so it's also possible they are descendents of coyotes that were there before the dam was built.

    Dude, I love trains. BUT 1) is anyone actually riding it? 2) When is that dang HORN going to stop?

    • @SoCalCreature
      @SoCalCreature ปีที่แล้ว

      Good questions I don't know about the ridership. Haven't had a chance to take it yet. Probably going to take it to OC this Saturday though. I noticed on their schedule that they have one train each day that is one of the older Metros that bypasses the SB stop and just becomes the OC route without having to transfer in SB. I'm guessing that one will be popular for regular commuters who have been driving to SB to get on the Metro. As far as the horns, I'm right there with you. I'm off of Olive and I can totally hear them. My GF lives off of lower State St though and they are driving her nuts. Here is the latest update on the horns from the gosbcta website. Sounds like a couple more weeks of that. In February 2022, the Redlands Passenger Rail Project team, in coordination with the cities of Redlands and San Bernardino, submitted the application for the Quiet Zones to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) for final approval. Unfortunately, as a result of some unanticipated administrative delays at the federal agency, the approval was not granted in time for the start of service. Subsequently, service began with the routine sounding of horns at the at-grade street and pedestrian crossings. Late last week, however, FRA staff informed SBCTA of the approval of the Arrow service Quiet Zones. Approval will be officially contingent upon the completion of a legally mandated 21-day noticing period allowing other railroad stakeholders to comment on the removal of the routine sounding of horns at crossings along the corridor. Per federal law, the notice to establish the Quiet Zone was mailed after receiving approval from the FRA. Completion of the 21-day noticing period is anticipated for Thanksgiving weekend. While we appreciate that still means some additional days of warning horns at crossings, we are encouraged that we can see the end of that operation is in sight. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@gosbcta.com or visit our website, gosbcta.com/arrow to sign up to receive our email updates.

    Locomotives alone are about 200 tons. They start smashing into each other accounts for the damage. Yard locomotives are always on remote control from usually the ground crews. the railroad is very unforgiving. The railroad owns that lumber ...they smashed it they bought it.

    Remote control locomotives are only used for switching in yards by conductors. They do however have a manual option so that they can be operated by an engineer. These would never be used on the main track in the remote control function.
