    I dont get why everyone says that the Polestar 2 grill is fake. It does actually function. When the battery needs cooling, the wall behind the grill opens up and suck air in.

    Ok Kris, this was BY FAR THE BEST Polestar 2 review I have seen. Anyone considering this car, it's a must see. And here is why.
    Ihad owned a Tesla Model Y for a year, and I currently own an Ioniq 5, which is getting traded in within days for a GV60 Performance, and I've owned a Polestar 2 for 9 glorious months.
    The reason why I think your video is best, is you really nailed things that NO ONE else has mentioned. I know you spent a lot of time explaining the wiper stalk and how wonderful it is and NO ONE else has. I have to agree tho, it is the best in the business. It makes driving in rain something that is not a big deal, that was honestly such a pain in the you know what in the Tesla that it borderlines on what I'd say is dangerous. . One reason I dumped my model Y and would never buy another Tesla 3 or Y is because of the complete lack of a wiper stalk and the absolutely insanely terrible wiper ergonomics. Actually a lot of reviewers, I don't think I've ever even heard the word ergonomics come out of their mouths. Ergonomics plays a massive role on not just the enjoyment of the vehicle but safety as well.
    You also mention how steering, accelerator pedal, brakes etc all work in harmony, and again I have to agree with you. Driving the Polestar is just a very very enjoyable experience. Even after 9 months, I am still THRILLED to drive the car....in fact just was talking about that exact issue with my wife today while I was driving and she was passenger. She fully agrees.
    You also mention that the infotainment is class leading and again, I have to agree with you. Tesla is good in the respect but the Polestar is better. I love how I can ask Google anything. This is not just a gimmick to impress people, it truly comes in handy. Again, an example today....I am trying to keep my kms at or below 20k per year in order to maximize my length of Bumber to bumper warranty. I know that 20k per year allows for approximately 1667kms per month (if you didn't know this you could just ask Google to divide 20000 by 12). Anyway so I know I'm close to that threshold so I asked Google how much is 9 times 1667 (which is the number ofonths owned so far by allowable kms per month to keep under 20k) to see if I was at or above or below that 1667 threshold. I also use it many times to check store hours of somewhere I may be interested in going to, to see if I'll make it or not or if I have several places to go to go to the ones that close earliest. Or asking it to find a phone number or a multitude of things that can't be done in most other, if any other, cars.... definitely nothing in its price range. Another beautiful thing with the infotainment. I can just tell it verbally to navigate to (insert whereever you want here) without knowing an address or anything. Like "navigate to Ikea in Burlington" the car does this so quick and efficiently. Now let's say I want to drive the scenic route, I just say "hey Google, avoid highways" and it will quickly re route me off highways. This is something that isn't even POSSIBLE on a Tesla. Or at least wasn't possible when I owned mine. As far as I know it's still a missing feature. And why has NO reviewer ever mentioned this missing feature? Am I the only one that likes occasionally taking a scenic route somewhere? :) Kris? Next Tesla review make sure you mention this. :)
    I also agree with your assessment regrading wheels and suspension etc. Although I haven't driven the performance version, I have driven dual motor on 19 and 20 inch wheels and the 19s give a much nicer ride. That is what I ended up buying.
    I also agree with your criticisms like the cup holder etc, tho it personally doesn't bother me much, but is bad design,plain and simple.
    You definitely earned my subscription.

      Agree, Polestar owner here for close to 12 months. I don't think that I could ever have a car that doesn't have the voice control 😅 Sometimes I'm lost, in the middle of a roundabout or quickly have to go somewhere else and it works 100% of the time. Love it..

    I have a '22, in one of the few cars that got the Pixel LEDs for that model year before they were cut. I absolutely love the car. I wound up speccing it similar to what you're suggesting; no performance package, though I did pick up the nappa leather interior instead. It's been a great car.

      @gbsorenson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also have a '22, LRDM, Nappa leather, pilot and plus packs. I decided on the 20" tires as an upgrade too. One reason is we liked to look of the 20's better, seeing them side by side the 19's didn't look as good. The other reason is the 20's are an all season tire. Both the 19's and the 20's that come with the performance pack are summer tires, so living in MN I would have had to change out my tires right away. So far we love the car!

      @@gbsorenson Glad to see a MN PS2 owner in the comments. The PS2 has been on my radar for a yr now, even more so since my sonata got stolen 🤦. My biggest concern was how the PS2 handles the snow. What's your experience thus far?

    • @gbsorenson
      @gbsorenson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CreamPieSundays It's been good so far, but we haven't had it in deep snow yet (and probably won't, at least on purpose!). We have other vehicles we drive when the roads are shitty. My must haves if owning an EV in a cold climate. 1. Home charger. 2. Garage, preferably heated. 3. An ICE vehicle for when conditions are.....like it gets in MN winters. On hard pack snow or ice they seem to do really well, tires will make a big differance. Polestar has a nordic testing site above the artic circle in Norway (I think) that you can find youtube videos on, so they test them in cold climates!

      @CreamPieSundays 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gbsorenson thank you for the helpful information, it's much appreciated. Sadly the home charger and heated garage aren't really an option for another year or so. My wife and I only own a duplex working towards owning a home soon. So dealing with the harsh MN winters will be troublesome. We do other vehicles so that's okay. Anywho thanks again for your insight, it's much appreciated.

      @gbsorenson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CreamPieSundays You're welcome. The beauty of an EV is the ability to have a "full tank" every morning (we charge to 90%), so, without that I wouldn't do it in MN. First off we have very limited DC fast charge options (I'm very rural), and second I don't want me or my wife to have to deal with charging in the cold. Coming home, pulling into a heated garage and plugging in is a beautiful thing!

    I always like the way the polestar 2 look and was interested in getting one until I saw the price for the spec I wanted and I heard about the harshness of the ride. At the time I was looking there wasn't a single motor version. I got a Mustang Mach-E for about 10K USD less. There wasn't the FWD version of the Polestar 2 available at the time I was looking but it would have been slower than my RWD Mach-E and I think still more expensive. Love seeing the polestar 2 out and about though.

    Thanks for yet one more good review. The PS2 is (or, was) almost perfect. Especially when it had the Pixel LED lights in the front. It is a shame that they took those away, probably because they wanted to put the components in the expensive SUVs. Which brings me to the major flaw of this model : it's a disguised SUV on an ICE platform. Just imagine what a genuine Polestar sedan with the efficiency of an Ioniq 6 could have been...

    • @Michael-jf9dw

    • @izo77
      @izo77 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Michael-jf9dw Well, like said before, being on an ICE platform is harmful for the efficiency, especially the way the BEV components had to be accommodated and the high ground clearance that is bad for the drag coefficient. Otherwise it’s a very interesting proposition. It would be much more so, if the refreshed version has a significant bump in range and bring s back the pixel LED headlights.

    • @Michael-jf9dw
      @Michael-jf9dw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@izo77 ok, drag coefficient is a good point. But neither do I like the more efficient Tesla design, nor the Merc design. I guess any new version of a car will become more efficient and has a bump in range. It's the only selling point for a new version. All the assists are very poor in quality, very expensive in costs and for most people unnecessary. And what else would discriminate models and versions...

    • @izo77
      @izo77 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Michael-jf9dw I like the body stile on the Polestar 2, especially the fact that it is compact. If only it wans't on an ICE/SUV plateforme, it would be really great. But I heard that a big bump in autonomy, as well as RWD, is in preparation for the 2023 refresh (like it's Volvo sibling). Depending on the final consumption numbers and if Polestar brings back the adaptive pixel LED headlights, the 2 will become a serious contender, in the narrow segment of BEV sedans...

    Considering especially the technical side of the Polestar 2, e.g. the consumption versa the performance, or that there is still a transmission tunnel (in an EV, which shows that shows that a car it is NOT designed as a pure EV), dual motors BUT both are PM motors (which always run along and thus use power (not in a Tesla!), and more are all issues which are central for ANY EV! And IF you want the performance edition with all the whistles you have to pay more for several packets....Thus the Polestar 2 is NOT at all a Tesla killer, rather one still to catch up with Tesla

    The Polestar 2 is quite a Tesla killer according to it's initial carbon footprint !!! 25 tons CO2 to build a Polestar 2 against 12.5 tons for a Tesla Model 3 !!! For those who don't know what is 25 tons of CO2, let's say it is equivalent to 125,000 km with a gas car having an average consumption of 8,6 l/100 km. What a clean car !!!

      Tired of these fanboys... The goal is to bring as many electric vehicles on our roads as quickly as possible for the good of our planet. The difference in CO2 emissions must be made by also taking into account the manufacturing of the ICE vehicle. So, the CO2 offset is 50,000 km in the case of the Polestar using renewable energy compared to an ICE vehicle. They published a study on this subject. Moreover, it is part of the company's mission to be carbon neutral within a few years. Instead of wasting your time bashing other EV models besides "Tesla's", you should try to convince ICE vehicle owners to make the switch to wathever model and brand they would like.

      1.) I would not trust that the numbers can be compated directly (e.g. different methods).
      2.) Gas needs to be drilled, refined, transported and pumped, and partially evaporates. The true carbon footprint per liter is thus much higher.
      3.) Burning of fuel causes much more (toxic) emissions than just CO2

    • @sylvainlaurin1012
      @sylvainlaurin1012 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christiandufour4152 EV initial carbon footprint is very important because it is 70 to 100% higher than a comparable ICE car. For instance Volvo said that the XC40 Recharge built in Belgium has a carbon footprint of 17 (metric) tons of CO2 while the gas version of the same car has less than 10.
      I don't know if the 50,000 km difference mentioned in your comment is true because Polestar has no ICE car !! What is the comparison car ? Anyway this number may be credible as long as electricity is 100% green. If not Kms required will be much higher. For instance it's not green in the USA (on the average 60% is from fossil resources), it's not green in China (85% is from fossil resources), it's not green in India, in Australia, in Canada (BC, NFL, Quebec and Manitoba excepted) and so on. Most of the planet generating plants still use fossil resources to make electricity. Among all human activities electricity is the one making the most CO2 across the world (www.statistiques.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/edition-numerique/chiffres-cles-du-climat/7-repartition-sectorielle-des-emissions-de). This certainly won't be carbon neutral in few years !!
      So if you really are environmentally friendly, you'll buy the car having the smallest carbon footprint (ex : Tesla 3 instead of Polestar 2) and drive your car in a country where electricity is 100% green otherwise you'll need many years before beeing carbon neutral with ICE cars.
      By the way, it is not true that ICE cars should be replaced by EV's as quickly as possible. For instance if you buy a Polestar 2 having a carbon footprint of 25 metric tons of CO2, it is equivalent to an ICE car with 27 MPG driving 77,000 miles (125,000 km) !!! And depending where you live you have to consider CO2 coming from «black» electricity used to recharge your EV in the «use» phase. That's the main reason why it's better to keep you ICE car a few more years instead of buying an EV car now.
