Hi Jimi. Thank you for your report. Next year 2023 I will order the Long Range DM without the performance package. Hope Polestar will bring at least a software update which improves the range a little bit. Also maybe the charging power. Or is this a technical/hardware thing? Anyway. Can't wait until next summer. Go ahead with your videos. I like them. Best regards from Switzerland.

tThank you for your Comment. I think that software can help slightly faster DC charging. but I unfortunately think that the challenge with consumption is due to the car using permanent magnet motors on both axles. Thank you for your support 😊

Good review, nice car. I recently did test drive from polestar dealership in Sydney. 1st impressions were great where we decided to hire the polestar 2 for a couple of days through Hertz to get better feel longer distance. Overall we were not disappointed but a few areas which could be better but not necessary a deal breaker from our perspective. 1. The indicated range on the car was 540 km but we never got higher than 390km when fully charged, couldn’t be sure but we suspect the car was standard 2 wheel front drive, not the extended range battery or all wheel drive. Also interesting when charging recommendation on charge display to charge up to 90% to preserve battery, so guess that further restricts range compared to laboratory test figure’s therefore real world figure at best was 390kms. For the car given it’s size the driver an passenger front seats although comfortable should have more space where centre console between seats cramped the driver & passenger which gave the feeling of being hemmed in. The car we had with sunroof was nice but lack of headroom entering & exiting the vehicle was annoying where you had to duck to avoid hitting head, me being 5’8 that shouldn’t have been a problem. Lastly no idea why but high transmission/ raised section on floor middle of back seat, kind of got in the way, not sure why that was there ! Overall still the car was still really good but before shelving out around $85k on road you would still want to address usability and ergonomics, that said the car and quality was top notch. Still serious about buying but in that price range got to do homework. Ps polestar bringing out updated model year end 23, rear wheel drive and longer range so not really worth buying before unless it’s I want now. Hope this helps anyone looking.

You can now buy the software upgrade on any dual motor now, even if you don't have the performance package, at a smaller price (1200 here in the US). Kinda makes the performance package even more of a niche upgrade than it already was.

@@jimirosa Their origin is Swedish. People need to be educated. Really, the only thing Chinese behind this brand is the financing. The Polestar started off in Sweden as a racing company. It later became Volvo's sports skunk works. When it rolled off from Volvo, the Polestar 1 was the Volvo Concept Coupe and the Polestar 2 was the Concept 40.2. Nobody Chinese is involved with the design and engineering of these cars. Polestar's CEO was a top designer at Volvo and their head designer was one of three top designers at Volvo. Polestar is headquartered in Sweden where all the teams work on the cars. At some point, Volvo and Polestar will use the Geely SEA platform for some of their cars and even that was chiefly engineered by a Swede that at one time worked for Volvo. Polestar is a Scandinavian brand with a Chinese parent company. But it is a Scandinavian brand.
