    About Cleverly Simple:
Hi - I’m Lynette. I’m the sixth generation to live in my family's homestead. My desire is to help women who feel uninspired weave time honored recipes into their routines to create a sense of simplicity.
We bought our farmhouse a few years ago and restored the family homestead completely. We’re never moving. We live 25 minutes from the grocery store, but love the quiet on our 5 acre property surrounded by fields that have been and still are being farmed by our family.
Most of my recipes come from the treasured recipe box passed down from my great-grandma, grandmother and mother. And I want to share them with you. Here you’ll find time honored recipes with ingredients you’ll find at the grocery store. Most are made from scratch, some include a box mix, but all are delicious and satisfying.
After moving to the country we found that a simple home filled with tradition is possible today no matter where you live or how busy you are. Living simply can be the mindset in the moment and the kitchen is the best place to start.
    Welcome to my farmhouse.

The pound cake takes its name from the traditional recipe which includes a pound of each of the 4 primary ingredients. Also, a butter wrapper serves as an easy way to oil a pan. Simply unwrap a stick of butter and oil the pan with the wrapper.

Funny! 😆 Thank you so much for including the bloopers! Makes everything more fun!
Thank you for this simple and historic recipe!
I'd be tempted to add some vanilla extract, for more flavor....but, then it would be a 5 ingredient recipe, and Not your original!
The only stand mixer I have is from my grandmother....it's old, and features a 3-propeller mixer part....I'm not even sure if it works! The electric cord is black and fat! I'll try it first, see if it even spins that 3-prop thingy.
Thank you for sharing! Bon Appétit! 🎂

This is the only thumbnail for me that really looks like a poundcake. Most of them look glossy, like a sticky danish or something. Pound cake should be feather light, like eating a cloud.

The flavoring is missing what about extracts?

By saying, “We would send over there during WWII,” do you mean your family sent the cakes over prior to the USA entering the War? Also, this cake is reminiscent of the German, Napfkuchen. And it’s four ingredients but it’s not a true pound cake as one your not using a pound of either component and also the simplified method of mixing the cake.

@@bobbybrooks4826 That is one of the stupidest remarks I've ever read on TH-cam. I guess all Italians are in the Mafia, too? You really shouldn't comment on things you don't know about. Ignorance is not as valid as knowledge. It's disgraceful that even in the comments for friggin' cake recipe, the ignorant have to come out to broadcast to the world how little they know about just about everything.

    No flavor?

    • @e.l.norton
      @e.l.norton 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Not in the traditional recipe. No. The flavor comes from the butter and sugar.

This isn't a "traditional" pound cake.
