    I've watched several of your videos and am impressed with your content. It's funny and very informative - perhaps the best I've seen for insights into all the aspects of getting better. Well done!

    Mate I’ve just found your channel and I’m hooked. The way you explain your experience with clubs, coaching, fitting ect seems so simple, where other TH-cam channels can make things seem so complicated. Also to find another Kiwi with a TH-cam channel is awesome. Looking forward to seeing more videos.

    I definitely prefer an outdoor fitting if possible really struggle indoors, don’t know why but that’s the case, I guess we all like to see that ball fly through the real sky ?

      Makes perfect sense, also sometimes being indoors I find myself getting stuck over the ball while outdoors I can be more target-oriented. Fortunately I've had good luck with indoor fittings so far, and I try to test clubs out outdoors before buying (whenever possible).

    I’m thinking of getting fit at the end of July. My swing has changed dramatically to where I feel that I am in a good spot to get fitted. I have regular flex stock shafts and I’ve played with a few people this summer who have let me hit their stiff 115 weight shafts and it felt like a massive difference.
    My question is should I get fit for clubs I want to grow in or clubs that my ability is. I’m still getting better and making tweaks but I don’t want to outgrow my clubs in a year or two.

      That is a great question and one we all have when we get fitted! Personally I think it's really hard to pick the right clubs to "grow in" because you don't know which direction you're going to go. If you get clubs that aren't right for you right now, you'll start making accommodations for those (because we're very adaptable creatures) and they might take your swing in a sub-optimal direction. So I would get clubs that are right for you now, because those will help you play your best golf which will give you more confidence and help you develop better habits etc.
      Also, you probably know this but just in case, note that regular vs. stiff is not the only consideration because shaft weight, material (graphite vs. steel) and brand will come into play as well, so you might end up getting fitted into heavier regular shafts or light stiff shafts. In general, it's a good rule of thumb to play the most flexible shafts you can control because those will offer the most distance (stiffer shafts give you a feeling of more control but may not be ideal because they don't have enough kick to give you distance).
      Hope this helps! Lmk what you end up picking - I'd love to know! 😃

      @@upbeatgolfer thank you so much! I was not expecting this detailed of an answer. I’ll get clubs set for my current swing. I appreciate the response!

    Where have you gone for fittings and how have the experiences been?

    • @upbeatgolfer
      @upbeatgolfer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for asking! The first spot I went to was with a solo clubfitter (he gave me the swing lesson beforehand and then recommended $6K worth of clubs!). Overall it was a pretty good experience except for the end when I was recommended to buy things that were clearly out of my price range. I learned a lot in that fitting and he adjusted my lofts to help with gapping. It was fine overall.
      I've also been to the PGA Superstore and Golf Mart for free "fittings" when I wanted to try out new clubs or check numbers. Those were great as I never felt pushed into buying something.
      And the last few official fittings I've had have been at Cool Clubs at Mariner's Point in SF. They've been great. I got all my questions answered, never got pushed into anything, and never felt forced to buy something. I started with a driver fitting there, then did irons, long game, putter, and I go back at least 1-2x a year to get my lofts checked and try out new stuff. I've also learned a bit about clubs and the golf swing in the meantime so my fittings have gotten more productive.
      Hope this helps! 😃

      @@upbeatgolferthx for that answer- who have you worked with at cool clubs? How have you found pricing? Appreciate it.

    • @upbeatgolfer
      @upbeatgolfer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry about the late reply here! I work with Clare (the manager). Pricing is about standard at most places -- i.e. not cheap but worth it if you consider how much quicker you get good and enjoy the game. I just think of it as a nice round I will forego instead!

    Where in the Bay Area would you go for a fitting?

    • @rjn1313
      @rjn1313 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      CoolClubs at Mariners Point and Club Champion in San Carlos both have top notch full fitting facilities. In both cases they are going to try to sell you their custom builds to your spec that comes at a steep premium. If your game is at that level it may / may not be worth it (eg some custom specs can be purchased directly from the manufacturer, depending on brand and components).
      Alternatively PGA Super Store in Palo Alto offers a tour van type fitting, still full component offering but they will be less high pressure and blend in more retail options.
      You could also go to Golf Mart in Colma - not as formal of a fitting offering but super friendly staff that will help you find a good match. They also carry lots of used clubs.
      So, depending on the level of your game and how much you would benefit consider from top of list down (bottom being great beginner option or just a way to try a lot of stuff out with zero pressure or bias on what to buy).
