Thankyou Alfons I have greatly enjoyed working with your videos. I felt as if my circuits were about 80% switched off in December, and since completing this introductory somatic education am now switching on again. Less pain. I am living in South Africa and nearly 80 years old.
Hi Alfons, I did whole 9 days and I would like to say one big thank you! It was really interesting to invetigate and observe my body. Especiely when I alowed it to move "body way" not "my way". Body know what to do I just needed to let go and lear. Once again BIG, big, bIg thank you!
Hello Alfons I have just finished to do all your "getting better day by day" lessons. It has been a very nice trip and experience. I will watch and do more lessons. Unfortunately Germany is a bit far from where I live. Otherwise I could have come to take a lesson with you. Thank you very much for your work and passion. Keep on going !
Hi Alfons, I know this is an "old" video from you but I just "discover" you very recently. I returned to my readings and research about Feldenkrais and that is how i found you. I like very much the simple way you explain movement and I will explore more about your material. Thank you very much for so much valuable free sharing on movement and life
You are a wonderful teacher, Alfons! I just finished this introductory series and I truly felt better every day. I'm much more aware of my movements throughout the day and feel more emotionally balanced as well. Thank you for sharing these amazing teachings!
Thank you for creating your videos. Since discovering your channel, my personal movement practice and my teaching practice have benefited by what you are doing. It is exciting!
Hi Alfons! Thank you so much for this introduction series, I have completed the exercises by practicing daily and I would like to share with you that I am felling my body much better and realized how interesting it is to find different ways of movement and all the possibilities we have and also how much I have neglected my body. During the first lessons and until around day 7 right after finishing the session I had a tingling sensation in the right leg, left arm, and neck... Funny :) but now After completing day 9 I don't have that sensation anymore. Anyway just want to thank you for sharing your knowledge with your great personality I wish I lived in your town to attend classes with you :P Liz.
Having completed this very helpful sequence where I bought the accompanying book, I now purchased your second book "How to do somatic exercises". I can highly recommend both. Every day I feel better following your instructions.
Hello my dear Alfons!!!!! You have become my best german friend (that’s a punt, I dont know many Germans!) Thank you for sharing graciously the Feldenkrais method with us. I have sent your info to all my contacts and friends and will continue to do so. I now have some kind of request for you. I work in a public environment and stay standing or sitting for long periods (Imagine a traffic contrôler for example) and I would like you to suggest lessons for busy and public people so we dont look like fools and still can do some exercices! Thanks in advance!
Good morning, or perhaps evening where you are, Alfons! I appreciate this wrap-up lesson. Here are some things that came to me while listening. I have also wondered what frequency, what to do when, and about other exercise practices. I wake-up and want to do a video every day. This doesn't seem to overwhelm me though often I'll do a lesson several times in a row. I already have a habit of a daily meditation practice (established within a Buddhist tradition) and find that the Feldenkrais lessons are a good alternative to that, and as you say, develop body intelligence as well as calmness of mind. About your basic fitness recommendations these things you suggest seem to be so little to you! As someone much older (72) who has not been very athletic, those "basics" set a pretty high bar.. at least, that is how it seems now. Maybe I should get down on the floor and try a push-up and see how I can do it now. I am more fit than I was when I was younger. Still, there is lots of information in the world that is basically in line with what you suggest - do some strength training, do some aerobic conditioning and keep a strong core. (By the way, the Core Method by Peggy Brill is a nice 15 minutes a day practice for keeping a strong core and I think I'll go back to it now with my new understanding of how to do some of these postures in a different way.) Most of all, thank you so much for this series that enables those of us who would not pursue classes for lack of a nearby teacher or lack of funds to learn, enjoy and expand our understanding through the Feldenkrais Method.
Thank you very much for this videos, beside the other benefits i get my vision more brite, i'm working with Bates metod and toghether with Feldenkrais it's accelereting the results!
Thank you for the book recommendations. Googling feldenkrais I found he practiced joy jitsu and judo.. I love both and have some injuries from them.. Will learn more about his methods of movement and healing. In time I’ll update. If anyone reads this in months past, please do remind me to update. Thanks,
Deat Alphons, I still would like to go further into the question of somatic education and having to repeat lessons. If it is neuronal learning we are talking about and education is by its means an aqisition of knowledge, which hopefully we do not forget again, then at some point we should be educated. No? I think this is an important question when telling people about the feldenkrais method
I don’t know, I’m not Moshe Feldenkrais and I’m not an ambassador of the International Feldenkrais Federation. I can tell you only from my perspective. There has been done an enormous amount of research in the past decades in the field of learning and education. It’s really interesting to look into it. For example if you look at secondary language acquisition (in contrast to learning grammar). With *extensive* reading of self-selected literature and comprehensive input we acquire language. I guess similar things can be said about movement acquisition. One thing is sure though: we don’t retain vocabulary and expect to know every new word forever the moment we heard it just once. Or as Frederick Vesper put it so nicely: Denken, Lernen, Vergessen. (thinking, learning, forgetting) .... Big topic, fills entire libraries
I was going to say only minutes, wow. I definately overdo it, when i hurt myself. Do you have many resting videos, I learned too many ways, do you find it best to lie straight on back with knees bent, up on a chair, I have used my exercise ball, or flat on the floor. Just for your experience, thanks

One more thing. Or will we always be victims of loss of somatic memory like Hanna describes?
