You're complaining like you've just heard your monthly rent or mortgage has increased. Ps5 pro is a luxury. Not a need. If you have a standard ps5 you're good. Going from ps5 to ps5 pro is not the same as going from ps4 to ps4 pro. Both ps5 console variants are native 4K machines and will run the same games and will only be as good as the games the developers make for them. The way cross gen has held back the games we've been getting so we never even saw the full potential of ps5 and series x this gen is the same way games for the pro models will hold back the potential of the ps5 pro. They're not going to make games exclusively for it. Developers have to make the games run well and be optimised for both systems. It's just Sony reselling you the same gen console the way Rockstar resold you gta5 for the ps5 and series x after selling you the game for the previous gen on ps4 and xbox one which was a small upgrade, same with naughty dogs last of us 2 and all their other remasters being small upgrades that you need to run side by side to see the difference.-me

It will definitely have a disc drive (add-on). The Pro version will mostly be bought by hard core gamers and those are especially the ones who still like disc games and have a huge selection of them already.
It's how they'll make more money and make the console look cheaper. Buy the digital console for £599 and then sell you the disk drive for an extra £100. And you've bought a £700 console without realising.
Every time I looked on Amazon the PS5 with a disc drive was the best seller hardware. Then, I had to scroll down a bit to find a sponsored listing of the digital version. It's really hard for me to not believe my eyes and trust PS is pushing the digital version bc of the demand.

So how long should they still cater the demands of the disc heroes? At some point theyll get rid of it anyways
Fun fact... the release of the external add-on optical drive will also be compatible with the PS6. There will not be a bespoke PS6 with optical drive upon release due to the reduced production of both the media as well as the lack of improvements to the optical technology for the foreseeable future. It will be strictly for backward compatibility with PS4 and PS5 physical media as well as bluray movies.
Actually, I think it's a really smart way to upcharge enthusiasts by forcing them to buy the add on disc drive. If this machine costs $600 digital only, they can basically then charge enthusiasts almost $700 since they want the disc drive.
If you already have a PS5 there isn’t a compelling reason to upgrade unless you like owning the latest and greatest. If you don’t have a PS5 yet then getting the PS5 Pro makes sense. The only issue for me is if the Pro doesn’t come with a disc drive and it’s digital only. Even if you have it to buy the drive separately that’s better, but it should come with one if it’s the “Pro” version.
come on think about it realistically, every past version has had a disk version so this will have it too. if they want sales to tank they’ll not add it
@@ToiletGrenade I don't think they won't make it compatible. Previous leaks indicated a separate drive like for the slim. The question is if they will release a digital box and a drive box, like for slim. They might actually not, but that won't be much of a problem provided they make a sweet and easy deal with the separate drive, like discounted when also purchasing a pro, or similar.
@@ToiletGrenade Have you looked at the slim edition? The eject button sits on the drive, not the console. You don't have to worry about the eject button because that is not an indicator of anything at all. I play on PS5 & PC. Basically Steam & PS Store only. Digital only wouldn’t bother me at all but I know tons of people have physical media. Disc drive add-on option is likely there, but I would definitely expect a transition to a digital only platform in the next few generations. Microsoft & Sony both have the intention of transitioning to a Steam Store like environment.
I REALLY hope it will have a disc drive. There are many people buying physical games as well as many people that own PS5 games physically. It would be very naive of them to release only a digital version. Let alone if they go digital only it will backfire them because many people will decide not to buy just for the sake of being digital only. I hope they will show smart and release 2 versions or 1 version WITH disc drive
Its going to take a lot to get me to go for a PS5 Pro. When i got PS4 pro it was because the improvements looked and felt notable and substantial. But ive not once felt like my PS5 was slow or like graphics and performance needed improvement. I genuinely dont see any reason for this product when we're very much still in the era where PS4 versions of games are still being produced and used
I mean, I am old school so I want my model to be a TRUE Disc Edition. But if they are going the route of Disc Add-On, I’ll just comply this time. If they release a PS6 Digital Only, then I will no longer game with Console and just convert to PC all together

I only got 1 Physical Copy PS5 game being Tekken 8. Making the PS5 Pro Digital only is stupid but Sony knows what they’re doing cuz the physical copy players are gonna have buy the separate tray thing.
PS5 Pro in general is a pointless purchase now, they already made you buy a whole generation and did nothing with it, now they're going to make you buy a pro version and do nothing with it. while it's held back because the PS4 will still be there and the Xbox one will still be there and the PS5 will still be there, so what we do in here?
Sales marketing for Sony may see a window option for optimum sales to be digital only. There will be a resale option back to Sony or possibly in the future a fellow Sony Plus member on your friends list. Obviously the option would be months or even years later at an incredibly lower price, but Sony would take a say 5% take on the transaction 🤔

I would only consider this IF they launched it with backwards compatibility for PS3/PS2/PS1 games as well as PS4/PS5....so no disc drive would be an automatic PASS.
Any backwards compatibility they may be working on would be software based, in which case there's no reason it couldn't come to existing PS5 models. Emulation performance is almost entirely tied to the CPU, and the Pro's CPU is barely an more powerful than the base PS5's.
Pretty sure 61 million people who bought it are using it. It's just funny to me that people use a different standard for PS and Xbox. Xbox exists even after like 8 years of all Xbox games being day 1 on PC. And people think PS has a hard time selling consoles lol.

I still think a Pro console at this point is useless. Games are still being held back by releasing cross-gen and haven’t taken advantage of the PS5’s full power. It’s like having a Corvette, never taking it over 60, so you add a supercharger thinking it’s not quick enough…
That may be true, but games are held back by poor optimization mostly. There are plenty of first party and third party games that play well on PS5. I also thought a PS5 Pro would not make sense, buuut RayTracing has introduced yet another drawback. You want RT on, you get whatever resolution it is there and only 30 FPS. When I read about the specs of the PS5 Pro, I said I would buy it. I really hope the price won't be that high, especially since they could reuse the existing external drive.

the problem with the pricing of the ps5 pro is that the xbox already increase their pricing without anyone making a buzz of it, the xbox with the disc driver and 2 tb will cost 650€ ( and almost certain take the normal xbox out of stores ) so a ps5 pro with the same 2 tb that people are talking, will never cost less than that

Im so worried, please let there be a disk drive edition. Sony should know that they have a huge base that still supports physical media. And also this is about the time in a console generation (actually we're a year late) that we start seeing official price drops. The base PS5 disk edition already frequently goes on sale for $450 anyways (and digital for $400,) they might as well at least make that official. I just don't see it being $600 dollars, and people should not accept that either.. that's how these companies take advantage of us, when they see that we are easily accepting of their shady practices. Then they experiment what else they can get away with afterwards. This should be no more than $550 for a disk based model, and $500 without one.

You know you don't have to buy it right? It's just Sony reselling you the same gen console the way Rockstar resold you gta5 for the ps5 and series x after selling you the game for the previous gen on ps4 and xbox one which was a small upgrade, same with naughty dogs last of us 2 and all their other remasters being small upgrades that you need to run side by side to see the difference.-me
It’s for whales only not regular people

It will definitely have a disc drive (add-on). The Pro version will mostly be bought by hard core gamers and those are especially the ones who still like disc games and have a huge selection of them already.
It's how they'll make more money and make the console look cheaper. Buy the digital console for £599 and then sell you the disk drive for an extra £100. And you've bought a £700 console without realising.
Still better than a 700£ pc
Every time I looked on Amazon the PS5 with a disc drive was the best seller hardware. Then, I had to scroll down a bit to find a sponsored listing of the digital version. It's really hard for me to not believe my eyes and trust PS is pushing the digital version bc of the demand.

There are no actual official details, not one.😂

I mean this guy is talking about it like he's got actual information.
I think it's a typical anti consumer decision a lot like a lot of PlayStation's decisions lately, Its a bit of a scam. To be honest I'd like a refund because my PlayStation says it can do 8k and 120 frames and that's how it was marketed same with the Xbox just all lies.

@@davidabrams6482Microsoft has done much shit over the last decade. But besides the fact that the consoles still support physical games, getting rid of it wouldnt be a huge mistake in todays time. How long should they still hang on to it? Till PS6? Some people will still complain then. PS7 in 2035 or sth? Physical media has been a declining market in forever now.

This is exactly how the design for PS4Pro was revealed too, a sketch.
It won't be digital only. The disc version has outsold the digital edition about 3 to 1, it would be brand suicide if they did.
I just hope the fan is quiet and good again, the slim fan sucks
.... all the Xbox consoles are silent
The PS4 Pro was like running a hair dryer.
Meanwhile my pc silent af :)
Actually, I think it's a really smart way to upcharge enthusiasts by forcing them to buy the add on disc drive. If this machine costs $600 digital only, they can basically then charge enthusiasts almost $700 since they want the disc drive.
If it is digital only and they expect the consumer to spend $80 extra then they have lost the plot. A pro should come with more, not less.
Even if you have it to buy the drive separately that’s better, but it should come with one if it’s the “Pro” version.
come on think about it realistically, every past version has had a disk version so this will have it too. if they want sales to tank they’ll not add it
Not making it compatible with their detachable disc drive would be idiotic.
@@Henkibojj The no eject button on the console itself is a huge red flag to me
@@ToiletGrenade Have you looked at the slim edition? The eject button sits on the drive, not the console. You don't have to worry about the eject button because that is not an indicator of anything at all. Worrying about whether or not the pro will be able to connect a drive onto it is another thing, where I also don't worry, but the eject button situation on these sketches is not any argument for either side.

I genuinely dont see any reason for this product when we're very much still in the era where PS4 versions of games are still being produced and used
It's going to be digital only and charge you to buy a disk drive. So they can say they saved you money. Might just wait this time.
I mean, I am old school so I want my model to be a TRUE Disc Edition. But if they are going the route of Disc Add-On, I’ll just comply this time. If they release a PS6 Digital Only, then I will no longer game with Console and just convert to PC all together

I just hope they ship 3 months of PS+ for free with the PS5 Pro. It would help justify the cost a little bit.
Not true. PS5 at this point is very underwhelming with many games with muddy graphics and stuck at 30fps. We need a more powerful console earlier.
