    This is a really useful tutorial for beginners who want to end up with a nice scene, and it has a lot of scope for personal touches on top.

    When working with textures, instead of opening a photo and adding it and duplicating it etc. just click on the principled BSDF and type control shift t and you can open the whole file at once and it automatically hooks it up.

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it’s way more efficient, thanks.

    Hey man great video, i noticed one tip with node wrangler addon you can press ctrl + shift + T and select all the maps you want and it will hook them all up to the principled bsdf for you so its even easier. :) try it out. but you have to be hovering over/ select the principled bsdf for it to work

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I started doing that and it’s an awesome time saver! Thanks! It’s cool how you can select whatever you want and it will JUST apply those. NW should be enabled by default in the next build :)

    Hey Kev, that brings a new perspective to a cave scene. Sure beats the "hugely subdivided, proportional edited cylinder" which we've all done at some time in our modeling career's & thought it looked wonderful lol.
    Really like the way you did the lighting on this one, it really works well for this scene.
    Hope you're surviving ok, thoughts are with you 👍😉

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Nigel! I’ve done the hugely subdivided approach too, and it still works, but after seeing all the stuff done with quixel, I though, hmmmm.... it works lol.
      Things are great here. We’re in lockdown again, so hopefully the numbers will drop and the vaccine will come and we’ll be done with it all. I hope things are well there too man!!

  • @rizerphe
    @rizerphe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    With node wrangler you can just select the principled BSDF node, press control-shift-t, select all textures at once - and it will generate the whole node setup for you

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d forgotten about that, thanks! I didn’t want them all in there but I could have just selected a couple and sped that up. Great tip!!! Thank you.

      @@KevBinge Let's mastermind! I learned a lot about mixing over the years from some great people. I actually did a tutorial on how to create 808's bass drums with one of the Arturia synthesizers for virtual workshop the other day. In a blender, I am constantly learning because of my dev background. I see you have a course I will check them out for sure. Thanks!

      Awesome!! I’m game for that once things calm down a bit. I actually don’t have anything for sale aside from a Patreon account. I will be creating courses at some point when the freelancing slows down. I need to make them packed with massive value first.
