Street Epistemology is a civil way to explore the quality of one’s reasoning.
Street Epistemology is also a movement that encourages our communities to engage in this exercise with each other and with ourselves.

    Hidden Claim:
Recommendations for Hidden Claim SE beyond the normal ones:
Have the person write it down so it doesn’t fluctuate throughout the conversation. We want them to update their conclusions if they feel like it’s warranted, but for the purpose of the exercise, it’s recommended that they stick to it and reflect afterwards.
It sometimes seems to help if the claim is a statement about the world we share. This avoids claims about personal preferences and this step can actually generate a great exploration about objective reality.
It’s recommended that the conclusion is meaningful to them. The more meaningful the topic, the more meaningful the interview is likely to be.
It’s recommended that the conclusion they hold affects their behavior. It’s more impactful that way. I’m not that interested in claims that don’t affect their behavior.
It’s recommended that they form the claim in a positive form to avoid double negatives and confidence scale clarity. Example: “The grass is green.” (positive) instead of “The grass is not red.” (negative)
It’s recommended that the IL is open to changing their mind about it if they find out their reasons/verification methods are insufficient/unreliable to their own standards. This can also generate a great conversation.
I recommend informing them that their claim can be specific but the main reason should be very general. One example might be, instead of quoting a specific scripture in their holy book as their main reason, encourage them to be more general by saying something like, “scripture”.
Make sure to tell them that the idea is not for you to be able to guess the claim. The purpose is for them to reflect on their epistemology. It’s all about them.
    Advantages of Hidden Claim:
    * It focuses on the IL’s epistemology
    * It lowers the likelihood that I insert my views and biases
    * The IL understands that I don’t know the claim which allows them to think more openly without the need to get defensive
    * It can lower the anxieties of both ILs
    * The tendency to bloviate is lower
    * It forces the IL to think about the claim, reasons, and epistemology in ways they may not have before
    * It’s disarming
    * It achieves the goals while avoiding some common pitfalls
    * It offers new ideas for SEPs open to improving their SE
    * The claim can be kept confidential
    * It can be done with many people at once

This college kid seems honest and kindhearted. The guy in the blue hat, on the other hand, reminds me of the snake in the Garden of Eden.

The word selflessness shouldn't exist because it can never be a reality because it's impossible to escape your own self interest. One of the first things they teach in philosophy class. At least it was one of the first things they taught in philosophy class in my area.

But there are people out there that want to harm you in all sorts of different ways. There's people that choose the evil path.

Life is ultimately subjective and not objective because objectivly and logically we shouldn't exist something cannot come from nothing. Something would have to already exist to give birth to the universe but that starting point can't objectively exist because a starting point would have to exist to give birth to the starting point.
Yet here we all are. Existing in a universe that we consciously acknowledge and cannot deny. So logic and objectivity can be shattered. And even if certain things (appear) to be objective like the laws of physics and the speed of light always staying the same, it doesn't mean that they actually do remain the same constant. Maybe every 1,000,000,000,000 some unknown force changes the laws of physics. Technically we shouldn't exist but we do do anything is possible no matter how impossible it may seem. Empathy sits in the Realm of illusion because even if two people go through the same experiance, it doesn't mean they'll both experiance it the same way. Maybe I like orange juice and maybe you do too. But maybe you like it WAY more than me. We cannot verify weather you do or not. 2 + 2 = 4 That is a solid objective truth. But there are a great many things that actually sit in the Realm of illusion or we just hope or assume is objective truth. Bit we are just fragile human flesh creatures. There's so much we don't know and will never know. How can one perceive, understand, and handle all the endless knowledge of infinite time? Just try to focus on being thankful to God or the Gods for creating us and the beautiful gift of concioudness. Always try to be as nice and kind as can be always chasing virtue and righteousness. For this is the only path of no true regrets. The path of optimism and positivity instead of the pessimistic path of constantly trying to break everything down to just science and brain chemicals. What are you hoping to find? Proof there is no God looking out for our souls and that we instead live in a Godless universe that has no care for us and that we become nothingness forever after death or whatever? Not me my friends. I pick a higher path. Thē path.
