In the spirit of Easter, I take a look at the timeless Rankin-Bass special on the beloved Easter icon hopping down the Bunny Trail, Here Comes Peter Cottontail.
Rankin Bass stop motion is a lost art of awkward wholesomeness.
Same here, sure Rankin-Bass is an easy punchline by some of the animation community. But Rankin Bass truly was one-of-a-kind when it comes to animation. Heck, most of the Christmas specials were either composed by either Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass.
Ah yes, this truly does take me back awhile back Mr. Toomore.

That's right, he did narrate Vincent. But I did not know about more he has done, that you mentioned.

Glad to see you’re still doing reviews. I missed your content. Rankin Bass is still a favorite and one of the best stop motion studios (unless you count Laika) to date. I am hoping to do my own animation in time. I realize it’ll take a lot of work but the effort will be worthwhile.
I loved the video where Quinton collaborated with Worthikids on discussing the other Rankin-Bass Specials a few years back. Since both had a lot of knowledge on Rankin-Bass and Worthikids discussing the appeal to the company and it's unique animation style. Especially when Worthikids talked about how "Modern Christmas Specials that pays homage to Rankin-Bass" always misses the mark when it comes to the animation style and especially character designs.

My favorite Easter specials are the Easter Bunny is Comin’ to Town, Yogi the Easter Bear, and maybe the one with Alvin and the Chipmunks. But this one is pretty good too, especially with Vincent Price as Iron Tail. In fact, I consider it better than its CGI sequel.
Fun fact Casey Kasem also voiced Robin in some of the earlier batman cartoons

Nice Godzilla collection there Toonmore! The Rankin-Bass holiday specials are so nostalgic for me and I still have some of them on VHS.
I honestly prefer watching the Rankin-Bass Holiday Specials on live tv over rewatching them on VHS. There's something about watching them in real time that feels just right alongside other Christmas related commercials. Rewatching them on VHS and DVD just doesn't feel the same for me.

that Dr. Seuss reference as well as that clip from the Great Mouse Detective and Nostalgia Critic's Top 12 Christmas specials is totally the Icing on the Cake! btw Donna is voiced by Iris Rainer Dart who wrote the 1985 novel "Beaches"!
The one thing I noticed is since he gave the witch an egg he was *tied* with Irontail.
How funny that this is re-uploaded today and Me and my family watched it on Palm Sunday Night.^^

Every time I think of April, there are a few things that comes into mind, Easter, Passover, Earth Day, my grandparents anniversary, and the release date of A Goofy Movie.

Trying to re-edit and re-render my old reviews for TH-cam isn't easy. Because of all the files I have on my computer, and because of how old it is, it takes about 8 hours just to render ONE video. And then there's dealing with copyright claims and such, making sure the video doesn't get blocked worldwide. It's really a hassle! :(

I don't know about you guys, but I can't help but notice that Mr. Sassafras looks like a goofier version of S.D. Kluger from Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town. Am I the only one who noticed that?

Not only is it a great telling of the story overall, it also stars Danny Kaye as the protagonist (essentially using the same character model as this one). Don't get the "Hitler" vibe from Irontail at all. The character was designed with Vincent Price's voice in mind. He looks awesome. If anything, he looks like a bat. But not like Hitler.
It's mainly the trenchcoat and the haircut that gives off the Hitler vibe.
@@Hewylewis I always felt Irontail looked more like one of those old-timey villains from melodramas and silent movies, mainly because he also wore that black vest and string bowtie. I'm surprised they didn't also fashion his whiskers to resemble a handle bar moustache, kind of like Meowrice from _Gay Purr-ee_ (1962).
