RIP Henry Fonda (May 16, 1905 - August 12, 1982), aged 77
You will always be remembered as a legend.
That scene is the most memorable moment in this wonderful movie. I was 11 years old when it premiered in 1981.I cry every time I see this real moment(no acting). What a talented family of actors(Fonda).What a terrific cast and crew.
I was a year younger when I saw this! It touched me in a way I can’t even explain….still to this day watching it probably a hundred times. I couldn’t relate or discuss this movie with any of my friends or people around my age and still to this day try to get people to watch it. It’s so simple yet so profound and meaningful. such an overwhelming burst of emotions emerge and I feel so good inside even watching probably a hundred times. I wish people would give this a chance. I’m surprised I loved it at such a young age. I remember when it was advertised, I even loved the trailer and couldn’t wait to watch it.
I miss the old movies like Golden Pond!
They don't/can't make this kind of movie

Of all my favorite movies…..this is in my top 5. Flawless performances by all.
Mine too I watched it several times a year.
This had to be one of the most powerful scenes in cinema history.
Another is in The Shootist where Lauren Bacall shed real tears because John Wayne was in reality dying
Same with Guess Who's Coming to Dinner ,,the scene between Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracey ..
She knew he would not be here long .
Ron Howard was also very attached character in The Shootist.

this is one of the most impressive movies I ever looked at. shortly before my father died I mentioned this movie....if he ever got the chance...please watch this one... my father was a great filmfan/movielover....he tought me about the golden oldies....and this one is my favorite.....

I didn’t know anything about Jane Fonda before this movie except 9 to 5. In that movie she was a green, mousy, prim woman dressing like a spinster working a job for the first time and in this she was a hottie for her age in a bikini, cynical, and with some serious daddy issues with an emotionally distant and equally cynical father. They were brilliant in this!
