I just did something like this a month or so ago. I picked up an inexpensive garment/drapery steamer and used it to clean and 'plump up' the foam before I started reconstruction of it. It rejuvenates the foam, and as a bonus takes away a lot of that 'old car stink'! You can also use it to tighten up the leather (if you have it) afterwards as well.
A steamer has many uses... for pseudo 'dry-cleaning' of cloth upholstery or foam, try spraying on something like carpet cleaner, agitate it with a brush (if appropriate), then steam it and immediately suck the liquid out with a shop vac (use a slit attachment on the end of the hose). I've had very good luck with this method on everything from cloth upholstery, to baseball hats, to pizza delivery 'hot bags'. I use the Folex brand of spray carpet cleaner.
I've seen that done before but didn't know you can use it on leather to tighten. Thanks for the great tip I will be using this along with what Cechaflo has shown in the repair presentation video. Again thanks DrFiero

Great video! This is how I repair foam in boat seats. At first I tried to cut the repair foam in the shape of the bad spot. This always showed threw the cover. Then I started doing it like you do and using a sander to shape it better. What kind of contact glue do you use? I can only get it to work good when I spray it on. It never sticks when brushed on.Thanks for all your videos
