How to upholster a car door trim in vinyl (Door panel insert)

Usually modern plastic car door panels are just upholstered in the upper central trim where the armrest and handles are.
The old upholstery was done in automotive fabric. This time the customer requested automotive vinyl.
It was necessary to add an extra new padding for this piece. A 3/8" of an inch foam was useful.
As you can see it was not really an easy task due to the concave area. I tried to lay the vinyl in a gentle way stretching it where it was necessary to avoid a future unsticking.

With what I learned from you, I upholstered my 1986 alliance convertible completely in black genuine leather. I used my grandmother's Singer 301 machine. I couldn't have paid an upholsterer to do a better job. keep up the quality content

It is not a drilling bit. It is just a punch the drill is turning it around to cut the melted plastic excess to let the plastic post free.

Es una engrapadora marca Senco de "naríz corta" Las grapas que uso para este panel de puerta son de 4 mm de alto. Estas grapas también sirven para los asientos de motocicleta, para evitar que traspasen. Hay grapas mas bajitas de 3 mm son mucho mejor.
Para otros trabajos. como asientos de sillas y muebles uso una grapa mas alta de 9 mm de alto.

Que material es lo que usas de color ladrillo para que no se pegué el vinilo? La otra parte del panel de la puerta que no tapizas en este video, si se requiere tapizar se le coloca goma espuma o no? Saludos desde Venezuela
El material color ladrillo es vinil. Cualquier material sintético plastico, es útil.
A los dos paneles le coloqué hule espuma bondeada. La espuma tiene tela de respaldo por uno de sus lados y debe ir a la parte superior.
Si desea puede hacerlo sin hule espuma. Una recomendación es que la superficie del panel debe estar bien lisa. Cualquier protuberancia o hendidura se refleja en la parte superior del vinil.
Como se puede apreciar la unión o ángulo del panel no es recto sino mas bien cóncavo(curveado), por eso aquí se puede ver que el vinil se estira a los lados en esa parte. El corte del material es a lo ancho del rollo para que la tela de respaldo se estire. Para facilitar la labor puede estirar esta área de antemano (antes de aplicar pegamento). Sujetar la pieza de un extremo con una prensita y jalar con la mano hacia el otro extremo. Hacerlo varias veces y el vinil adoptará una forma cóncava que se va acomodar al panel de plástico con facilidad.
Ok una última pregunta y duda, ese vinil color ladrillo obviamente no tiene pegamento y por ende no se pega, cuánto tiempo hay q dejar secar el pegamento? No es necesario activar el pegamento con calor? Que tipo de pegamento es, es la popular "pega de zapatero"?.
@@javiernava6907 El vinil ladrillo no debe tener pegamento. Su función es simplemente proteger el área que cubre. Luego se retira total o parcialmente para continuar con el pegado.
El pegamento se aplica en ambas superficies, la del vinil y la espuma por el lado que tiene respaldo de tela.
El pegamento que se usa regularmente es el amarillo de tapicería.

Es un simple sacabocado ajustado al chuck (ajusta brocas) del taladro. Al girar el scabocado su filo corta circularmente.
