As the proud owner of these awesome doors, all I can say is - THANK YOU ZACH!!! The doors are one of the first things people comment on when they walk into the house for the first time and probably our favorite element in the house. We feel very fortunate to have had Zach make these for us and he's a pleasure to work with.
Echt unglaublich!
Another fantastic video! I absolutely love how you forge the cut nails. That level of detail really sets the piece off. The handle is awesome too. Also love the copper plate finish! Excellent work!
And I'm all like....how much work could these doors have POSSIBLY been.....Annnnnnd he's making his own nails...oh man....was I wrong....Stunning my brother...absolutely stunning.
love it. just made a barn door with a mirror in it. big chunky old scaffolding boards as the edge. not sure.weather to paint or stain it. love the stained look, but paint will go with the room as it is right now.
Your attention to detail is amazing. Awesome build like always. I'm especially impressed and inspired due to your work space. I follow several makers on YT and they all have huge shops with all the top of the line gear and you accomplish the same or better quality without all the bells and whistles. Gives me hope
Was literally tackling my first ever barn door build today - inspiring to see how you tackled it with all of the awesome forged / fabricated parts. From one ZH to another - Cheers.
I really like the look you got on the metal with that copper patina - very cool. I also like that almost "barbed wire" like detail you incorporated into the handle - maybe an homage to the origin of the boards used in the project?
Thanks! That's brilliant! Unfortunately the handles/barbed wire was a coincidence. The fact that your mind went there makes me excited to see what sort of thing you end up creating.
Beautiful work. Your creativity and mastery of what you do is a joy to see. I really like the way you played with colors, too. The music adds a neat dimension to your vids as well. Good work! Vroom!
Awesome build dude. Multiple steps to patina your steel, forging your own nails and handles, using the original nails and screws to create a stain for the timber... these are the details that are taking you from great, to next level. ZH is wildly underappreciated. Just keep knocking out the quality vids mate, and this channel can't help but grow. A few years from now, you'll be celebrating a million subscribers too.
Hey Aaron, I used muriatic acid to remove th zinc playing on the bolts, I then got them red hot and dunked them in a combination of beeswax, BLO, and Turpentine to blacken them-- I have an old video on the formula titled "old school weatherproofing"
I was astonished to describe this work, believe me when I watch your work Enjoy, it's the art that expresses its friends Thank you Jaregel We have enjoyed Algeria
flawless....... adore watching you create the beautiful artistic pieces,m its so relaxing with your choice of music really compliments your work, thankyou
Buenas noches soy de Argentina, he visto trabajo pero este es de otro mundo de otro nivel estoy sorprendido por tu capacidad extraordinaria de realizar estos trabajos majestuosos.
One of the only 'Tubers' I follow where EVERY video gets a like, comment, and share...(in the words of Stumpy Nubs) because you'ved it my friend, you've earned it. BTW, I've gotten great use of the Grrrripper push block...thanks again!
Olá, moro no Rio de Janeiro (Brasil). Acho o seu trabalho muito bom, pretendo começar a fabricar móveis em madeira e metalon. Eu amo este estilo industrial nos móveis. Parabéns pelo canal e o trabalho. 👏🏽👍🏽👏🏽👍🏽👏🏽👍🏽
Wow... detail and killer design. Do you get to the point you just want the project to be finished towards the end, or is that just me? I just wrapped up one that took awhile and couldn't wait to start something new.
Thank you! I sort of have the opposite problem, I usually get so many ideas during the build process I have to convince myself the piece is done/ fine as it is.
That's amazing work, huge respect to your skills. How did you develop such good metal handling skills / techniques? Trial and error? I was particularly interested in how you achieved the stressed look on the some of metal parts with those different solutions.
Thanks Richard! I learned some metal fabrication when I went to automotive school about 15 years ago-- but I've learned mostly by trial and error/experimentation. And the distressing was pretty much as simple as it looks in the video :)
Thanks! And you're in luck buddy! I finally got around to installing the Holley carb I ordered like 3 months ago today, filmed everything. I should have it out in a week or so :) I have a picture on my instagram "ZHfabrications"

Thanks Davor, I'm seriously looking forward to the desk!
The doors are great, but the way you utilize that log for a shop tool is even more awesome.
:) Thanks Dave!
You are a true craftsman. Thoroughly enjoyed the video. And to think you did all that in canvas tennis shoes in a garage! Amazing. Well done.
Can't help but come back to these old vids. You continue to inspire my man!

I am blown away by this process and you attention to detail!!
Thanks Greg!
Beautiful build man. The ppl that dislike this build don't know the difference between a nail and a screw.
Another fantastic video! I absolutely love how you forge the cut nails. That level of detail really sets the piece off. The handle is awesome too. Also love the copper plate finish! Excellent work!
Thank you Rob!
Thank you for doing such tremendous work and sharing it with us. I'm a hobbyist welder and woodworker myself and really dig your style.
I am continually impressed to see your metal work and blacksmithing! So cool seeing just about everything made from scratch, thanks for sharing!
Thank you Chris!
And I'm all like....how much work could these doors have POSSIBLY been.....Annnnnnd he's making his own nails...oh man....was I wrong....Stunning my brother...absolutely stunning.
Hah, thanks Steven!

Love that build. Barn doors are visually appealing to start with. This is a really cool take on that.
Thanks Chad!

I'm digging the finish on those doors. The metal looks awesome. Great work Zack.
Thanks Brian!
love it. just made a barn door with a mirror in it. big chunky old scaffolding boards as the edge.
not sure.weather to paint or stain it. love the stained look, but paint will go with the room as it is right now.
Thanks! Hard to say with paint vs. stain--it all depends on the room. Go with your gut!

Awesome! And another ZH--how cool!

At 10:55, why did you treat the bolts with acid and what did you dip the heads in? Just wondering. Thank you for the awesome video!
Hey Aaron, I used muriatic acid to remove th zinc playing on the bolts, I then got them red hot and dunked them in a combination of beeswax, BLO, and Turpentine to blacken them-- I have an old video on the formula titled "old school weatherproofing"
love how you treated the metal with blackening agent and the copper patina stuff!
i'd love to know the name of the song you play in the last part :)

great work! whats that "blak magic patina" stuff?
It's just a metal patina. Spray it, give it a few minutes, neutralize it with water, then apply some sort of protective finish, usually Lacquer.
11 minutes of my life well spent, thank you.
Thank you!
F'n Awesome Build!!
Love the look of combining metal and wood!
You crushed this! Thanks for giving us this video.
Thank you so much!
this made my lunch more fun an I like how you saved the rusty nails always gota save every nut an bolt I got a drawer full of random ones
Thank you! Yeah I will I dissolved about half of them in vinegar for the weathering helical-- but that still cants as being used, right? :)
