Another great video, Marcus. Your videos featuring RTH or mentioning RTH during the flight have given me confidence in this DJI feature. When I first began flying I was constantly concerned about losing the drone for any number of reasons. But you have demonstrated and my flight experience has shown that unless something catastrophic occurs, the drone is going to come home. Cheers, buddy.
Dang this is what I needed! Did my first flight on the mini 4 in El Nido, I could not figure out how to get drone back and I had no idea where it was 😮. Found the H on screen but I wish I knew how to RTH. This was the most important video I have seen!! Ty
That was a thorough run through of all the RTH features. I do have two questions: 1. What was DJI's thinking for making the drone just land when it is less than 5 meters away? Why not just come back to its home point? 2. When in Sport mode, OA is turned off. When it is in RTH does it automatically go back to Normal mode for speed and to change to OA being on? I found it interesting that the drone didn't know where the controller was located unless the controller was connected to a phone. A fear I've heard expressed about RID is that thieves or Karens are going to be able to home in on a flyer. I guess a person could take off and then move away. Those people would go to the Home point and no one would be there. Perhaps you could make a video exploring RID?
Hi Marcus, a very nice tutorial on RTH. I don't think that recent DJI drones need to go up to seven meters to memorize its home point. That seven meters requirement was for older DJI drones. Turning off the controller would also be a good test for RTH. These new DJI drones are much smarter than me. vbg
Last video before Santas arrival? I love the Mini 4 Pro abd Air 3 Firmware presents we just got! I am not getting very dynamic "Auto" flights with Active Track. LOVE having the 360 wheel on Air 3! Wishing you a Joyous and a Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Good video Marcus with such a great little drone. I'm really enjoying playing with mine and so much to learn. I want to play with Hyperlapse and Waypoints. I found, like you, how good the RTH is on the Mini 4 Pro.
Hey there , thx for the video :) A question plz : how come u have more than 120 mt altitude, aa far as i know that the max altitude for dji mini 4 is 120 mt ! Any tips here :D thx in advance
Dji mini 4 pro would be my first drone ever and this was very detail. Watched it every minute. I have one question. When rc is loosing signal just for 900m to 1 km what is tht 20 km range dji claims?
Thank you! Signal strength is dependant of many factors and can vary with terrain and RF interference. In this case I lowered the altitude of the drone to induce signal loss for demonstation purposes.
Great video you got a like from me for having the settings on metric not imperial like every American does when they are making a video for the world 🌍 and the world using metric and they make it in imperial so great
Thank you! The metric system is great, and I wish we'd use it in the US! I'll make one exception though. I prefer fahrenheit to celsius because it is a finer gradient.
Another great video Marcus. I was curious about changing the home point to the location of the controller not being able to get GPS lock without internet. My cell pones and tablets always have GPS even when they have no SIM card or internet connection. So if the Mini 3/4 have RID doesn't that mean they should have built in GPS without internet? Just like the Goggles Intergra does.
I wanted to describe something I did with my mini 3 pro and get your thoughts on how a mini 4 pro would react. In Phoenix AZ there is a mountain which is sort of in the middle of the city called Camelback mountain. I was wanting to fly up to the top and maybe see a few hikers. As I few up the side I kept having to increase my maximum altitude until I was at about 1400 ft. I was in a golf course parking lot next to the mountain. I would guess I was maybe 150 ft above the mountain when I reached the summit. I did see some people and began doing a manual orbit around them when my drone suddenly lost signal. I got quite a boost in my heartbeat. Only maybe 15 seconds later my signal returned and my drone came back. I had to manually adjust my altitude and got some wonderful views. I have a mini 4 pro now. I’m thinking of redoing that flight. What are your thoughts.
Hello Marcus from GA. Merry Christmas my friend. 2 things, when the drone is landing, does the camera face downwards until it lands, and what the heck is RID this fellows bring up here?
I recently brought the mini pro 4, When I flew recently I didn’t see the option to return to home just only land option. Any suggestions for enabling the return to home option
I recently upgraded my Mini2 to a Mini4 Pro and I miss the fact that the Mini 4 can't rotate the camera backwards when I return in RTH mode. I can rotate the camera vertically but I can't rotate it horizontally. Maybe there's some setting option but I haven't discovered it yet.
Thanks for this sir. Just got my first DJI drone and I'm still scared of doing too much. This was helpful. Extra marks when I hear Americans talking metric....haha
That's weird that you don't have the option of choosing the satellite layer on the map for updating HP from the map. It's available for setting waypoints, so why not for the home point?
Thanks Marcus, we don't have that in Australia. Love that Snake River area mate, lucky you, I reckon the Air 3 chasing a speedboat up that river again would look really beaut mate.@@IdahoQuadcopter

Thank you George! I always tell people, "your drone always wants to come home". 🙂
Hi Marcus, great tutorial on RTH, you explained a few things I was not sure about especially in regards to Drone Heights.😊
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you!

Nice demonstration of the RTH function, Marcus!
Thank you John!!
Nice tutorial, everyone loves RTH. It seems like a few behaviors have changed. Thanks for sharing Marcus. Merry Christmas.
Happy holidays Ron! I always learn something when I do these RTH videos.
Excellent tutorial on RTH. Seen a lot of videos, but none compares to you. A big thanks and looking forward to checking out your channel 😁
Thank you very much! I appreciate your compliment!
Great stuff Marcus, great fan of your videos, very informative. Gives me a lot of confidence in flying my M4P here in the UK. Keep ‘em coming👍😊
Thank you Keith! Yes, much more to come!
There's thorough, and then there's that ! :) Great job.
Thank you kindly! I appreciate it!

Hello Marcus -thank you for a great video-Have a great Christmas-Mike in Australia.
Happy holidays! Thank you Mike!

Yes, I need to experiement more with RTH to controller. As soon as I hotspottted to my phone it worked. You make a great point.
Excellent tutorial Marcus, Merry Christmas.
Thank you very much!

Thank you Richard. I appreciate the information.
Wao I know you gonna drop this video. Good work and enjoy your Xmas holidays
Thank you Welbeck! Happy holidays!
Hi Marcus.....The Mini 4 Pro is a great drone........👍
It sure is Jim. I'm in Oregon for the holidays and would love to fly it, but the weather has not been good.
HA!....Your in my back yard. Welcome to the great northWET.....LOL@@IdahoQuadcopter
Great tutorial Marcus... Cheers
My pleasure! Thank you!

Thank you Gerry! The Mini 4 has earned the name Pro.
Thank you so very much for showing us RTH and it’s nuances.
Thank you, I'm glad you found the video helpful.

A question plz : how come u have more than 120 mt altitude, aa far as i know that the max altitude for dji mini 4 is 120 mt ! Any tips here :D thx in advance
I'm not sure what you are referring to. The highest I flew was 30 meters. And yes, max legal is 120 meters. Thank you for watching! 🙂
Dji mini 4 pro would be my first drone ever and this was very detail. Watched it every minute.

Is optimal rth going to save to use in an urban residential area with trees power lines etc?

You make a great point. I need to experiment with it and see. Thank you.
Awesome 👌🏿🛩️
Thank you David!
Merry Cristmas to you and all your subscribers
Thank you Derek! Merry Christmas!
Mini drones should not have RID
It's no big deal.
I wanted to describe something I did with my mini 3 pro and get your thoughts on how a mini 4 pro would react. I'm glad you got your drone back. 👍
Hey Marcus, would you be kind enough to help a guy out with your microphone and camera setup is for recording the videos? Action 2 camera ?
I use a DJI Action 2 for most of my work, and the the DJI Mic system. It works quite well, and I recomend it.
Hello Marcus from GA. Merry Christmas my friend. 2 things, when the drone is landing, does the camera face downwards until it lands, and what the heck is RID this fellows bring up here?
RID stands for Remote ID is a new requirement from the FAA. As for the camera it will face forward just before the drone lands. 👍
I recently brought the mini pro 4, When I flew recently I didn’t see the option to return to home just only land option. Any suggestions for enabling the return to home option
You can change the emergency settings in the safety menu to hover, land, or RTH. 👍
I think they changed that yaw feature because of obstacle avoidance on the 4 Pro.
With RTH due to low battery, can you pause it and update the landing spot to where you may have moved to?
I've never tried it, but I'll bet you can.
Thanks for this sir. Just got my first DJI drone and I'm still scared of doing too much. This was helpful. Extra marks when I hear Americans talking metric....haha
Ha! Thank you! We need to switch to metric in the US. 🙂
I wish dji would have satellite image for the waypoints so you can be exacting in the landing point very frustrating 😮
hi,Can apple airpods pro be connected to rc2 and record sound?
Not that I'm aware of. 👍
That's weird that you don't have the option of choosing the satellite layer on the map for updating HP from the map. It's available for setting waypoints, so why not for the home point?
I see your point. I had not thought of that.
My return to home disappeared from my remote, all it shows is land. Does anyone know how to fix that?
Yes, you need to update the settings in the safety menu on the DJI Fly App. 👍
what happens when you switch to return to controller ?
It comes back to where you are standing with the controller.
By the way, I am still here in the drive thru at in and out burgers.please some one help me,lol 😅
I just can’t make it through this.
I won't make you. 👍
Merry Christmas everyone,I trust my dji air 3 more than my piloting skills.i am an idiot and should not ever be flying drones,😂😅
Yet here you are
All these reviews of the mini 4 never tell us that you have to deal with RID! I'm sick of hearing the reviews
Is what it is man. Don't like it? Fly mini 2
Ha! This video is a RTH tutorial. RID doesn't figure into it all. Thank you for tuning in!
What is RID?
@@waynegreene6405 It's an FAA requirement for drones over 250g or .55lbs. It broadcasts your flight data. RID stands for Remote ID.
Thanks Marcus, we don't have that in Australia. Love that Snake River area mate, lucky you, I reckon the Air 3 chasing a speedboat up that river again would look really beaut mate.@@IdahoQuadcopter
