    Hi.Of course it's only about GPS.Thats why you have to wait for enaugh satelites and than it's setting your Home Point.Remember..You can change the Return to Home Point,wile flight:-) It does not matter what you put under the Drone.The landing Pad is just dust protection or taking of in rough Terrain.The Picture the Drone is taking,is just for the extra precison and not for the landing in general.

      Exactly right. I was scrolling this vid and the last bottle cap one and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what he was testing. I got the Mavic Pro 1 I early 2016 (from overseas, because they didn’t sell them in the states yet), and never had a landing pad, launched from random spots in the desert without identifiable artifacts around it.. always landed on the original launch spot purely based on GPS 👍🏼

  • @JJDrones
    @JJDrones หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    As far as i know, the precision landing does take a picture of it's landing area, however, it uses the GPS location from the spot it took off from. I knew it would choose the bottle cap each time, because of the GPS lock from the launch location. But it was still entertaining and now I want a bottle cap

      As you well know, my tests honestly mean nothing in the grand “scheme” of things. Matter of fact, they’re all “schemes” created by We’re the Roberts to get views. Hence the click bait titles and title wording. At least that’s what I’ve been told. Hahaha. Hey, when we go camping together, we can share a case of Mountain Dew and we’ll each take home 6 bottle caps. And Michael, you’re invited, too. lol actually Kristi may want some, too so we might as well bring 2 cases.

    I did the same kind of test with my mini 3 pro if I manually took off it would miss the pad by a foot or 2. When I did the auto take off it would land on the pad every time!! You got me doing some testing now. Always enjoy your videos!!

    • @WeretheRoberts
      @WeretheRoberts  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      lol I wonder why it’s such a difference. I guess precision landing is just a bonus and as long as it’s within a few feet or so it’s all good. Like with the Mini 2. But I do wonder how manual vs auto take off changes things so much. It’s above my knowledge. lol. Let us know how your tests work out, brother. Thanks for watching as always!

    Another interesting video Kevin 😀
    I too always thought that it took a picture.. and I still think it does. If it relied on GPS alone, then it wouldn’t need to hover for a few seconds before flying away. The GPS location would be the same on the ground.
    So I gather it uses both GPS and a photograph 😀
    Thanks
    Steve

    Can’t comment on mini 4 pro, but my old Mavic definitely took at picture for precision landing so the technology for this is known by DJI.

    • @WeretheRoberts
      @WeretheRoberts  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really have no clue how it all works but how else could it match the terrain without a picture? Someone said they get precision landing at night, too though so how’s it taking a picture in the dark and still maintaining precision landings? It’s confusing!!!! lol.

    • @ivo_huth
      @ivo_huth หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a mini 3 pro, that one doesn’t do precision landing. But the overall position holding seems better than my old Mavic. When the Mavic was landing it would correct the position at a height of about 5m. I guess the GPS technology in the Mavic was not so precise as in the newer drones and without precision landing it would be landing about 3m off. With precision landing it would always be on spot, but at startup I needed to go straight up so,it could take a good picture of the landing spot. It didn’t work on grass or a landing ground without detail.

Of course I almost got injured and Jack nearly crashed a couple times, but it was still a good one. Hahaha. I’m still trying to figure out the easiest way to catch the Mini 4 though. It’s a little different than the 2. Something about the 4 seems a bit more fragile than the 2 is. Who knows? I’ve caught Dwight a few times lately and it’s getting easier each time but he seems a bit more sensitive on the bottom sensor than rose and Jack.

    What's the problem with you guys? Do you really believe that the drone "looks" where the pad is? It simply uses GPS. Nothing else. By the way: does it look down while starting. No. So: how should it identify anything.

      Hahaha. There’s too many things wrong with us to name so I’ll let you use your imagination. Regarding the picture, I think most of the people who watch our channel regularly know we aren’t referring to the front camera taking a picture but rather with the sensors beneath the drone which are essentially cameras, also. It seems like the picture idea though has been debunked so I’ll agree it seems like it’s more gps/GNSS related. My only question is how does it “match the terrain” as it says in the manual without some sort of “picture”? Also, I’ve noticed pretty much every time the drone starts to descend, it’ll make some micro adjustments to fine tune the precision spot so maybe it is using the bottom sensor for that, too. It’s all above my head of course. I just fly the things and ask a bunch of questions. lol. Thanks for watching and commenting. We hope you have a great week. God bless! Kevin

      No we’re gonna stay out. We oughta be good but I’m sure we’ll lose power as always. If we were near Tampa we would’ve already left. Hahaha.

    all of this is pointless . You should only use "return to home " in complete emergencies . To be a real drone pilot you should fly the drone manually . in a long one this will make you far better drone pilot instead of just being lazy ....

      lol I’ve noticed you usually don’t have anything good to say about our videos but you continue watching. So I must thank you for your support and comments. Anyone who watches our channel regularly though, knows I’m admittedly not the best drone pilot out there and I’m pretty lazy but most of all we try to have fun. I hope that comes across as enjoying life is way more important than being perfect and having all the answers to life’s problems. Wouldn’t you agree? God bless and thanks again for watching.

    Is that the racist general lee hat.. not cool,..

    • @MountainSideProductionz
      @MountainSideProductionz หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The dukes of hazard was about two fun-loving Southern race car drivers who enjoyed defying authority. When the show was made, it was still socially acceptable to view the Confederate flag just as a symbol of “Southern heritage” and resistance to overweening authority, rather than racism and slavery. So it was natural for the “Dukes” to call their car “General Lee” and fly a “Rebel” flag on it. Wearing there hat is not a symbol of racism in the slightest. If you think a white guy wearing a certain hat is promoting racism you may in fact be racist yourself.
