For about a year before the Mini 4 Pro release in September 2023, I was looking for a Skydio clone since Skydio wasn't available anymore; as it could fly around objects while tracking you "flawlessly." Tried the Autel Robotics Evo II Pro Enterprise V3 and DJI Mavic 3 Classic. Both are incredible drones, but could not match the performance of the Skydio. When the Mini 4 Pro was released, I bought it right away. My static test: Track my car just sitting in the driveway and orbit around it while missing the surrounding trees and my house. The Mini 4 Pro did this perfectly! It dodged the trees and up over my house and back down again. To make this test even harder, I cranked up the speed of the drone to maximum. I got to tell you. This little drone is like a Skydio on steroids! By far the best drone I've ever owned.

Nice! Yea, you can't really go wrong with any of the mini models, the SE has been out for a while but it still shoots amazing quality, and then of course you have the mini 4 pro which shoots just as good quality as some of the bigger drones, but it's super travel friendly
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464after watching your video i stopped right after the master shots and went out to try it! That was cool !!!!i wish i can get more shots but its hella cold.
Hey thanks!! There's probably a few more features that I could have included but I really wanted to hit the highlights that most drone users will be using this for. And yes! Always as cautious as I can be 👍
I used to fly Autels BUT, they ticked me off when they discontinue some of their older models and they do not continue to carry batteries. I just received my Mini 4 pro yesterday, thank you so much for the explanation..
See I've read two different sides of that. 1. meaning they won't work at night and 2. They are not as effective at night......"I'm not about to test it".......Now in my opinion you shouldn't be flying too close to any objects at night. I do fly at night from time to time, but I'm usually 200-300 feet up in the air out of harms way. Shouldn't be flying close to anything such as trees, power lines or anything you can't clearly make out.
I use a hard care too. If your hard case has a foam lined lid, you don't need to remove the RC2's joysticks ( I never do and its been over four months of flying).
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 When I received the Mini 4 Pro last September, I installed the joysticks and never took them out. Impossible to lose them.
Good review! Note about camera quality, since the camera is not really a 48MP camera and just does some interior upgrading, you can get much better quality starting with the 12MP image from this drone and upgrading with Topaz Gigapixel AI software if you need the added quality. The in drone upgrading is quite poor compared to the Topaz software.
Great review, and I really appreciate your tips. I made some custom changes in my drone/controller while they were connected based upon them. I hope you GF isn’t to angry with you about that vibrator comment.
Hey thanks! its nice that they allow for customization on the remote being that everyone has their own preferences.............she wasnt too mad.....but she'll get over it haha
Just to set things straight. ND filters do not remove glare og anything else. ND is used to control the exposure so you can manually set the shutter speed and follow the 180-degree shutter angle rule. If you shoot in 25fps the shutter speed should be at 50. Always double the framerate. That is to make sure that you get the right amount of motion blur, so everything looks natural and like the real world. If you shoot in auto, the ND have no effect at all, other than the drone will bump up the ISO to compensate for the lack of light you let in to the sensor. And that will give you a lower image quality in the end with more noise. So, ND is only used when you shoot in manual mode and want to control the exposure to maintain the right amount of motion blur.
Kind of....If I'm correct altimeters measure the distance above sea level. and this drone will tell you your height from where you take off. you can set it to either metric or imperial
Hi Jessie I have a question , I dont think i have EVER seen the obstacle avoidance lights on the controller any other colour than red and they are turned on on the new remote, the light today is overcast , yet its bright here, it's not in sports mode and still that top right still reads red , any idea please ?? what would you do ??.. any idea what might be causing that ? thank you , appreciating any anwer I get always, and thanks in advance :)
Technically you can fly near airports if you have the proper authorizations and your drone is registered and you are licensed, but yea, I would say most places you can fly, never hurts to check the airspace though before you take off
Hey no problem! You will not be disappointed! It's a fun little drone that shoots some astonishing video and pictures, feel free to ask me any questions if needed! 👍
Awesome vid on the mini 4 pro. I got the mini 3 pro and interested in getting the filter. Does the company also make the nd filters for the 3 pro or just specifically for the 4 pro?
I think that company only makes them for the Mini 4 pro, but go on amazon and look up ND filters by the brand "Freewell" I know they make them for the 3 pro, and I've purchased ND filter from that brand before.....very reliable 👍
I had bought the Mini 3 Pro late, but the photo camera was washed out and the video didn't work at all. DJI told me that it was defective and to send it back. Didn't buy another because I figured it was a bad manufacturing run. Glad I waited. The Mini 4 Pro came out a month later. It works so well, it's my favorite drone!
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 I’m super new to this. I’m 40. My dad also needs it to shoot long range target shooting beyond what spotting scopes will see hits at.He’s 75 lol so it needs to be user friendly. 2000m is what we need it to see targets at but obstacles for the old man make me nervous so needing obstacle avoidance seems necessary lol. Mini 4K seems like a deadly option!
Everyone says they offer 4k Video, but they don't. 4k is actually 4096 x 2160 pixels. Does the DJI mini actually do 4K, 4096 x 2160 pixels or UHD which is 2840 x 2160 pixels?
Does anyone know how to lock the auto exposure compensation (EV) on the mini pro 4? I can't figure out any way to do it. I assigned manual EV up and down to the C1 and C2 buttons, but even though it allows me to adjust, it goes right back into auto and removes my adjustment. I don't get it.
Buddy I had that same problem. Here's how you lock it in. Press and hold down on the screen until it shows the lock 🔒 icon . That will lock it in, and I do believe to "unlock" it you just have to tap the lock icon or press and hold it down. Try that and let me know if that works!
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 Thanks for the reply. I just took my drone outside and found some interesting stuff (none of which really solved my issue...). These seem to apply to both photo and video mode: 1. Pressing and holding on the screen didn't give me a lock icon at all, nor did the function appear to become locked. All it really did was change the autofocus point if I hit it briefly and if I held down, it brought up the gimbal control slider. 2. In "Auto" mode, I have full control over EV, but obviously no control over ISO and shutter speed. (And no lock.) 3. In "Pro" mode, I can actually gain full control over EV, but NOT if both ISO and shutter speed are in manual mode. If either of those are on Auto, then the EV is fully controllable, but still not lockable. This is weird and what I really want to do it have full manual control over all three variables - ISO, shutter speed, and EV - at the same time. It doesn't seem like I'm able to do this, which is frustrating.
Hey if it works, and does the job....no need to upgrade. Also kind of depends on what you need it for. Heck, even though I have the Mini 4 pro, I still use my mavic mini, and Mavic air 2 from time to time
Been there! Take the Memory card from your drone, put it in your computer/laptop. Then plug your phone into the laptop, and then drag n drop the video files to your phone. Or you can copy and paste the video files to your computer and then connect your phone to your computer and drag n drop them that way.
Hi bro this is a complete review of DJI mini 4 pro drone. Are you a teacher? This is lovely. I just ordered my m4p to replace my m3 which has connection issues. Can you treat each segment separately? I'm Welbeck from Accra Ghana West Africa Stay blessed and safe all the time Amen 💐💞🙏🙏
hey thanks, I am not a teacher, but I know how I learn best and I try to convey that in my tutorial videos......what part of the video are you referring to when you say segments?
Jessie, I just joined your YT channel as if I'm not getting over a dozen new ones to watch every day already. I am in the market and was looking for the right DJI model that would meet my needs and/or desires. This one looks fantastic with the fly more combo and the larger batteries. But I do have one question or maybe I missed it in your video. Suppose you are flying a mile away in a wooded area and the drone goes down for whatever reason. Does this drone have any kind of application from Microsoft Play Store that you could put on your cell phone that would lead you to your crashed drone so you could potentially retrieve it if not way high up and hung up in a tree? I hear of people losing their drones all the time and wish to have one that I can track using GPS connected satellites. Understood that I may have to find it in a hurry before the batteries die and you lose its signal. Just a very nice to have feature. And don't try to tell me they never crash far away. If this one does not have that feature, what would you recommend? Attach a GPS tracking device that adds extra weight and cost? Or, look for another drone model that has this feature? Just learning so much in such a short time it seems overwhelming to me. I don't want to make the same mistake my friends have made. They buy a drone, then they sell it for much less and go buy another with more features. Some seemed to have a newer model drone every month. I wish to avoid doing that if possible. They are not that inexpensive. Happy flying.. No big hurry on an answer and my questions are open to anyone. But I will likely be buying one soon. I don't know how many more TH-cam videos from you and Dustin I can take....Not to mention all the other channels out here.... LMAO
lol, I think I can help you out, so this one does have 360 obstacle avoidance so it will lessen your chance of crashing the drone....but YOU are Right! they are not crash proof and it can happen, I've crashed my mavic air 2 at great distances before, However, you dont need to download anything from the playstore because the drone and remote have the tracking software built in. so if you do crash, the remote will be able to pinpoint pretty close to where it is "within a few feet" that being said, you usually want to avoid flying that far away, but if you do, just make sure you leave enough battery life left so that way you can make the drone Flash and beep "makes it easier to find" also, if I feel like Im going to crash, or I know its about to happen, I start recording IMMEDIATELY, so that way I can play back the footage and look at the surroundings, to better gauge where it is....... again, its better to not put yourself in that situation in the first place, but hey , live your life how you see fit lol. I've just been flying long enough so I can kind of tell when its ok to fly at far distances and how high ......Hope this helps and happy flying!
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 Understood. Risk level is low, but still there. I also just watched a DJI Air 3 video that had a video built in controller. It was at more than half the price of the 4. Would you have a video comparing the 2 or just one on the Air 3 so I could determine the differences... Half price seems attractive, but may not be so much in reality. Thanks... dlg
@@davidgrubb354 I'll be honest I dont have any experience with the DJI air 3. but whether you get the remote with the built in display screen or not, it will still have the find my drone feature
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 Thank you. I will research much more on their 3 model as it is much less expensive and may be adequate for me and my non-professional needs as far as video and other features. Happy flying... Can I ask why you have not reviewed the DJI 3 models?
Excellent point on the difference the Extended batteries make on the weight. But you should also note that with the latest firmware, which you are required to install, that the drone will NOT fly without lots of workarounds and flashing warnings requiring you to have a RID installed! So beware of those extended batteries that push the drone over 250g and into that nasty requirement.
Thank you! The battery weight was something I really wanted to make sure I understood before I made the purchase, as I use my drone for many commercial purposes, and I figured many others had that concern as well. And I did not know that about the firmware. Looking into it right as we speak! Thank you! 👍
Excellent video havent bought one yet, waiting to see if they are going to release a number 5 version. lots of rumours on line . but any hoo i have liked and subrcribed to your channel. i shall wait until end of sept and decide to purchase dji 4 or an updated version ( a lot of money to make a mistake ) thanks again for a Fab video , shall be watching and learning from you . Cheers. Geo From Scotland
Well thank you! glad you enjoyed the video. I'm pretty eager to see what features the DJI mini 5 will have. whatever decision you make, I know you will like the drone! Cheers!
Don't particularly like the way they activated real id with the last firmware update they put out. now if you use a plus battery, it will automatically enable real id transmission. guess I will not purchase the plus batteries and just use the standard flight batteries.
I have to look more into this....so does this mean that by putting in the bigger battery, it automatically activates Remote ID and if you have the smaller battery in.....it doesnt?
Are you FAA licensed? just recently the DJI's are getting FAA RID compliance. Had to ground my DJI mini-2 b/c it is not FAA compliant for use other than "recreational" flying. Cannot post. Flying over people is a NoGo.
If that's what you want .....go for it. I usually only buy a new drone if the occasion calls for it. I had a mini se for about 2 years, then I upgraded to the Mavic Air 2 because it could shoot at 4k 60fps and had some collision avoidance, but then I upgraded to the mini 4 pro because it was the best of both worlds. The camera quality of the Mavic Air two, with the size convenience of a mini....Win!
Thanks but for anyone who has the RCN2 controller which professionals use with a large tablet, amateurs and newbies tend to go for the RC2, the video was useful but doesn't obviously include the specific differences between the two controllers, I think you assumed everyone had a RC2, not true as stated, for full flexibility you do need the RCN2.
I’m curious as to what “full flexibility” means. I do not currently own a drone but did in the past. I always used my iPhone, but kinda like the idea of the screen on the controller. Seems like having a large tablet would be very heavy and cumbersome unless you were in a vehicle or sitting,
Thanks for the tips. I just got one and I had any ideea what I actually bought until this video. I will have so much fun with this 😅 About the case... I have slightly different model but mine is child prof beside waterproof 😂 (I mean my child can't touch the drone, not what you thought
Tip on charging the batteries - I have three of the Plus batteries. Also have a 100 watt charger per outlet (2) and two 100 watt charging cables (can charge batteries and controller at once) . That big Plus battery charges in only about how long it took to drain while flying. Do you lose battery capacity charging fast like this? Yes, but only 0.01%. I've got over 45 flights on each battery and the Mini 4 Pro still flies about 40 minutes like it did when it was new.
@@PeterFaulk-v4o normally yes -- you see the lights on the charger moving slowly. takes hours to charge the drone battery. When I connect it to a 100 watt charger with 100 w cables, the flashing movement is much faster (3-4 X). Takes 35-40 minutes to charge each battery.
Max recommended charging, I can assure using my 65w charger it charges considerably faster than with my 30w charger. Not twice but certainly 50% faster
Very good and information Video. For me as German too. :) But only a little bit difference I think. From EASA to FAA. We have both 120m maximum altitude i know same as law or? but the rest is So complicated with the laws... but if you have a bit of stamina after a short time anyway. Here, for example, you always have to register your m4p with the Federal Aviation Office. Simply because it has a camera and is therefore not classed as a toy. Without a camera, it wouldn't matter. But I understand that. Just like attaching the pilot ID to the drone as a license plate. (A wafer-thin laser-cut anodized aluminum plate. Not big and doesn't get in the way. In my case, for example, it contains the mandatory ID and my cell phone number in case I lose it somewhere. But that's not a requirement. I don't know what it's like in the USA... For example, we have the Wi-Fi CE protocol, which reduces the range to 10 km. (But FLOV is mandatory here anyway) In the USA i mean you have the FCC Wifi Protocol? with is 20 km. Here in Europe you can't even buy the Flight PLUS batteries. Even import is impossible or not easy.. But the good thing here is, maybe it's the same for you in the States. There are many clubs and associations here in Germany. If you are a member of one of the 2 large model aircraft associations (DMFV and and MFSD) here, the EASA rules no longer apply to you. Just like the C classes and A1/A2/A3 categories. However, you are only allowed to do this in Germany, i.e. national law. They have negotiated this with the aviation authority. So I'm allowed to fly up to 12 kg MTOM in the A1 category. :D Thats so crazy lol..Germany and their many laws.. (I'd better not say anything or I'll puke )but as a pilot you are still fully anytime responsible for it! But thats good so :)
Glad you enjoyed the video. I can't speak to rules and regulations outside of the US but I know it can get very complicated depending on where you live......I've even read that buying a drone, registering it and getting licensed in the US is pretty simple compared to other nations....but of course it does vary. Thanks for checking out the video 👍
lol, well thank you! im glad you enjoyed it! i tried to make as educational as i could without being super boring....figured a little touch of comedy couldnt hurt
It's different for both ...based off of my testing....the normal ones that get 34 minute flight time only take about an hour and 30-40 minutes, but the 45 batteries take on average 3 and a half hours.....but I did buy more batteries......can never have enough flight time with a drone!
Does the case, full of equipment, float? I have a rafting trip down the Colorado River in mind, and it would be awesome if it floats in case things get western. It would suck to watch that kind of money sink to the bottom like a rock.
Funny you should ask! So, to my knowledge it does, and to do you one better.....check back in a few days, because I plan on doing a separate video where I review the drone case, and two of my tests are going to be, submerging it under water and seeing if it floats. I should have that video up in the next 3-4 days. But I'm more than positive it does float, because it is air tight
Oh. My. God. This is, by far, the best product “once over” I’ve ever seen. I do these constantly with apple stuff. Daily. Never seen one this close. Fantastic, man. I just bought this drone. My first. I have a plethora of DJI stuff but my first ever drone purchase of any sort, I’ve never flown one & have only been close to one. Very cool. We are in the mtns of nc but also have a place in Cave Crk! We may have to run into each other sometime! I, too, am an “idiot”…😂 (I think you understand exactly what I mean). But I don’t ride the long board. They always made me ride the short board to school. Or something like that. Thx for this. Stellar stuff. 💪 Much appreciated
A cool change in night mode. When flying in a pitch blackness (zero ambient light), it's like flying blind. However when it snows (blankets the ground), a cool change happens. You can see the ground for miles! Filming becomes amazing. To fly in pitch blackness at other times, go up high; far above the trees and mountains (250 to 394 feet or 76 to 120 meters) and pan around looking for distant lights. Then fly towards them to explore. When you are done exploring or your battery is low, either press RTH or fly towards the home point's "H." -- I live in rural America (nearest neighbor half mile away) so I fly this way a few times every week (when your camera normally sees "black"). When I first tried this, I thought that night flying would be impossible. Instead its It's very exciting!
I'll have to try this. We don't too much snow here in Arizona, or at least in the part of Arizona that I live it......Next time i see snow, I will have to give this a try
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 Just make sure its pitch black outside when you do. Only then will you see this amazing transformation. Its like daylight appears in a drone.
@@Diantane I can't wait now! makes me miss Minnesota a little bit......but I never bought a drone until I moved out to AZ, but even in the parts of Arizona that do get snow......I don't think its enough to achieve this effect...but I appreciate the tip!
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 are there mountains in Arizona? Here in he US recreational pilots are allowed to take the Mini 4 Pro up to 1,640 feet about the starting point to get over the mountains. I do this at night so I can see the drone up to 2.5 miles away using a "Firehouse" strobe light attached at the bottom of the drone forward of the battery. I bet when people on the ground see that strobe they must think its a UFO or a new star - lol.
I'm a recreational (USA) drone pilot (retired). Could care less about the under 250 gram limit. I bought the Plus Fly More package. It took me 5 minutes to register this new DJI Mini 4 Pro for free (recreational license is $5 US for an unlimited number of drones per three years). There is a label on the drone with the recreational license number on it (another 2 minutes). Big deal :)
Nahhh you'll be fine. And yes, it's pretty amazing to be able to fly a drone out here in Arizona, but if you are nervous or scared about flying your drone, just start off by going to a big open field.....like a baseball or soccer field or at your local community park
Wish the mini 4 pro have dual camera with tele lens. Cause digital zoom lose quality. I will wait for the mini 5 with dual cameras. Sometime you need to zoom at things cause you cant get too close to the subject.

Well they thank you very much! I'm glad it helped! The drone is a piece of cake to fly and learn, after a couple flights you'll catch on pretty quick!

Nice job mentioning all the nice features of this drone! Please be extra cautious when scaling to new heights in some of that terrain.
Hey no problem! have fun flying. It's a great done! 👍
Hi Jessie, enjoyed your vid, Im sure you know collision sensors don't work at night.
If your hard case has a foam lined lid, you don't need to remove the RC2's joysticks ( I never do and its been over four months of flying).
true! I always remove them....just a habit i suppose
Thank you!
Nice and informative video. I've decided on my first drone. Thanks!
No problem! Glad it was helpful! You will love this drone!!
Agree 100%. This guy lost all credibility with me when he showed that he has no clue about the rationale for using ND filters when shooting video.

Does the DJI Mini Pro 4 have and altimeter, if not, can one be added?
Kind of....If I'm correct altimeters measure the distance above sea level. and this drone will tell you your height from where you take off. you can set it to either metric or imperial
Hi Jessie I have a question , I dont think i have EVER seen the obstacle avoidance lights on the controller any other colour than red and they are turned on on the new remote, the light today is overcast , yet its bright here, it's not in sports mode and still that top right still reads red , any idea please ?? what would you do ??.. any idea what might be causing that ? thank you , appreciating any anwer I get always, and thanks in advance :)
are you referring to the lights "physically" on the drone, or the red indicators on the remote?
What are the rules here in AZ? Obviously not near airports but can I fly just about anywhere in the city above cars and building like you have here??
Technically you can fly near airports if you have the proper authorizations and your drone is registered and you are licensed, but yea, I would say most places you can fly, never hurts to check the airspace though before you take off
Best mini 4 video I've watched so far, perfectly presented info with a dash of witt..im going to return to this eveytime I get the drone out

This was a great video. Love the deliver. Stay on that path

Great video. Informative and not too much waffle. Slightly distracted by how much the presenter sounds like Howard Hamlin.
Thank you!......I was going for a more....Walter Cronkite approach
These seem to apply to both photo and video mode:
(And no lock.)
In my Rc 2 i don't have the Resolution option ? in mini 4 pro!

Hey if it works, and does the job....no need to upgrade. Also kind of depends on what you need it for. Heck, even though I have the Mini 4 pro, I still use my mavic mini, and Mavic air 2 from time to time
@jessiesdroneadventures7464 I understand. Now my debate is between air 3 and mini 4 pro...
How do i transfer videos to my phone if i don't have the DJI app
Been there! Take the Memory card from your drone, put it in your computer/laptop. Then plug your phone into the laptop, and then drag n drop the video files to your phone. Or you can copy and paste the video files to your computer and then connect your phone to your computer and drag n drop them that way.

Thank you! 👍

Hey thanks!!! 👍👍
Im still flying my dji mini 2 se. Maybe ill keep going up in quality every year with a upgrade.
I will have so much fun with this 😅
About the case...

I think max battery charging on the mini pro 4 is 30W
@@PeterFaulk-v4o normally yes -- you see the lights on the charger moving slowly. takes hours to charge the drone battery. When I connect it to a 100 watt charger with 100 w cables, the flashing movement is much faster (3-4 X). Takes 35-40 minutes to charge each battery.
Max recommended charging, I can assure using my 65w charger it charges considerably faster than with my 30w charger. Not twice but certainly 50% faster
Very clear this video👍
Thank you!
Very good and information Video. For me as German too. :)
But only a little bit difference I think.

You must be using a very low power battery charger. My battery is charging just over an hour for the normal ones.
It's different for both ...based off of my testing....the normal ones that get 34 minute flight time only take about an hour and 30-40 minutes, but the 45 batteries take on average 3 and a half hours.....but I did buy more batteries......can never have enough flight time with a drone!
