I have a 2019 regal. Here in Jan. 2022 2032 batteries have become unobtanium. What a pain in the rear. Love the car, absolutely hate the keyless ignition. Thanks for your excellent explanation.
You're welcome. And in case it helps, CR 2032 batteries can be bought in nearly any retail store that sells any batteries. Just picked up two a few weeks ago (obtanium!). In the meantime, you have a back up plan...
Thank you!...I have a 2017 Buick Lacrosse with the removable key and could not determine what I had to remove on the door handle to reveal the lock until I watched your video which showed how to remove the cover!....and then how you showed the placement of the fob in the console for recognition by my car!...Great Job!
Thanks for doing this video. I have the 2020 Buick Enclave SUV and you covered all the steps well. You know, I really don't think the salesman understood this procedure because he said something like... one doesn't have to use a particular spot to place the key fob, because the car would recognize the fob (even if dead) if I just sat in the driver's seat. I didn't question him much on this, because I figured he most likely knew more about the vehicle than I did. Thanks for this informative video. 👍
@@DashboardSymbols Yes, I thought he might be wrong on his advice, but I figured I would eventually learn all I needed to know about the vehicle by studying the manual and doing some research. Your videos tend to bring the manual instructions to "life." I think I have a pretty good "handle" on things now.
Thanks man, the Key fob form my 2017 encore died at the supermarket and my car was telling me to put it in the transmitter but was showing me the layout of a different car (the picture showed I think the regal with the cups side by side instead of the buicks front and back)
Ah yes, I've found the image on the inst panels in GMs to be quite confusing. Glad to help. German mfgs mark the correct spot/cup holder. What a concept...
Thx you for sharing this video i Had this issue yesterday my key fob did not work and I have no keys so I wish I would’ve seen your video sooner but I did not have a problem anyways thank you
Hi I know this is probably a dumb question but if I've put the key in the spot and the vehicle still doesn't respond is it safe to assume the vehicle's main battery is dead?
No! There could be a problem with the fob itself or the start system. If you have ANY power -- lights, radio, etc. -- find the spare fob (if you have one...). Otherwise, yes, the main start battery is likely the issue...
question i have a buick encore i tried the stuff in the video my car started but it won't lock I've changed the battery how do I get it to lock with the fob
My FOB is already on the charger plate but the FOB needs a new battery so the car will not start since the battery won’t charge. I was hoping there was a manual valet key start but nope. 😖
There is not a charger plate for the fob. The batteries are not rechargeable. Dropping the fob into the back up start location in the front cup holder will allow the car to start!!!
Sure there is. Assuming a start problem, look in the center console for something that looks like it will hold business cards. Can't prove from where I am, but bet its there...
Getting in is the same, but the start spot is different. It appears I missed that in the vid. Its a small depression at the rear of a tray on the center console, just in front of the center console storage area. Have it on the website...
@@DashboardSymbols ok cool. I knew where the indentation was on the door for the lock & tested it after buying the car, but never knew where the key reader was... Thanks for the info!!
Too many possibilities, but start with -- is there any indication of power? Interior lights? Is the instrument panel lit? If not, you need roadside assistance...
You are a life saver. Thank you very much.
Glad to help! Can we add the comment to the website? TH-cam requires that we ask...

You're welcome, and not surprised by an uninformed salesperson. And it was your request that spurred the video!

Glad I watched this. Now I know what marked ledge inside the cupholder is for in my Buick Regal. Even Buick couldn't explain what it was for. Thanks!

Make sure the battery is properly installed, and the new battery is actually good. Otherwise, there is an issue with the start system...

Where is it in the buick encore 2018 ?
Stated at 2:30 in the vid. Front cup holder...
How do I stop the alarm system?
The alarm will stop when the car is started (part 2 of the vid)...
No option for Buick regal gs 2012
Sure there is. Assuming a start problem, look in the center console for something that looks like it will hold business cards. Can't prove from where I am, but bet its there...
I see now that it is one of the cup holders. Take the rubber liner out. The pocket will be seen. Drop in the fob and start the vehicle...

What about a Buick LaCrosse 2016
The question is answered at 3:05 in the vid...
Except the 2016 Buick verano does not have a push button manual start !
Of course it does. Its in the front cup holder. Take out the rubber mat first. 2:30 in the video...
What about a 2012 regal
Its in one of the cup holders. Remove the mat at the bottom for access, just like the Verano. I missed it in the vid!!
