Lovely Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you considered - Trentvorty Safe Vehicle Theorem (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good one off product for discovering how to repair your car the simple way minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my buddy finally got cool results with it.

I owned a 2010 Buick Lacrosse. I love it!!! The moment I laid eyes on it, I knew this car belongs to me. My daughter called me and asked me if I seen the new Buick Lacrosse and I said yep! And, I’m going to get it. She said, she wanted to get it too, but it doesn’t makes sense having two Lacrosse’s in the family. I then said, I guess your gonna have to find another car. So far no problems. Basic yearly inspections. Pass every time. 70K miles after 13 years. I’m retired and don’t travel much. It rides new every time. It still looks great. Needs new rear shocks. $60/parts, do it yourself buying the part online. Otherwise, it still running great. Many mechanics at the dealership compliment me on how well the car been taking care of. When you’re blessed with a nice car by God, you really should take good care of it and it will take care of you. No serious…out of the pocket money yet to put in this car. That’s a blessing! I tell everybody to buy this Lacrosse. It’s a great reliable car. I’ve been a Buick owner all my life.

I have a 2014 Buick LaCrosse Premium 1 3.6 FWD and thankfully, I've been able to fix the issues myself like replacing the vent valve solenoid in my vapor canister box that caused me to fail my emissions test, fuel rail sensor, camshaft position sensors, spark plugs and ignition coils and my two front wheel hub bearing and assembly, sway bar links in the front and of course change my own oil regularly. In addition, i did my front and rear rotors and brake pads.
Now, the next thing is replacing my struts in the front and shocks in the rear and cleaning my fuel injectors. I hope i won't need any new fuel injectors. That'll be $400 for 6 of them.
Owning a car is a big responsibility. Being able to fix quite a bit of your own issues is a big help and something to be proud of.

I would change out the antifreeze vent line (not exactly sure that is the term). It is a small plastic line that runs from the antifreeze reservoir to the passenger side of the engine. The new ones are metal and not plastic. Ours broke and luckily it didn't toast the engine.

2010 Lacrosse best car I've ever owned, 205,000 miles (many of that on rural gravel roads and on oil field lease roads) and still runs like a top. Only major repair has been to replace the AC compressor at 140k and the starter at 195k the key is regular maintenance and maybe a little luck. will have to replace the rear shocks before long

Sadly, I had to retire my dad's 2011 Lacrosse which I inherited 4 years ago when he passed away. My dad had no problems with the car. He did replace the tires and battery. It was downhill for me. The computer system went out without warning 2 years ago and was replaced. Last week same problem, dead computer. The mechanic also found a leak in the oil tank. I sent the car to the junk man with a tear in my eye. It was a beautiful car, 75,000 miles.

My '02 Regal recently stalled out and left me stranded. The lights on the instrument clustered flashed on and off, and the engine failed to crank. After sitting for a couple of days of sitting, the engine turned over. The tow truck driver mentioned that a faulty alternator can cause unusual electrical symptoms.

2012 lacrosse with 72k i got it at 50k only had 1 issue Ac compressor went out. Had a aftermarket warranty company fix it no outta pocket for me. Other than that great car i did alot of proactive maintenance. Trans flush, coolant flush, evap cleaning, throttle body cleaning, new spark plugs, new battery, new water pump, regular oil change of course and new tires/rear shocks i work at a dealership so i get everything discounted and techs work on my car for dirt cheap. Overall the lacrosse is a good car but you gotta fork over the money when its due and sometimes its good to just be proactive and do routine maintenance. Aka more than just oil changes it cost to maintain a reliable vehicle always remember that

Not bad at all. Only issue I have with mine is the infotainment system, that it sometimes goes mental when playing mp3s from a flash-thingy. Often, it'll "forget" where it was and play one saaaaaaaaaaaame song (to the point where you get sick of it) vs the one that was last playing. That, and forever "indexing..." when restarted.
When adding new songs, be sure to change the volume name so it'll reindex the whole thing as a new "disc". Otherwise, you may run into an album that plays duplicates, ie, song 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, etc., instead of 1, 2, 3, etc.

Great video. The problems I've had with my 2013 buick lacrosse, purchased in 2016 with 42K miles were (and this in order):
    1. Water in trunk (it was either the sunroof or tail lights that had a bad seal) covered under warranty thankfully, dealership said around $350-$500, between there i cant remember
    2. Hub bearings in the front (I got the abs/stability system error but noticed it driving weird) also covered under warranty, don't recall the price
    2. Alternator went bad, $500 fix plus the battery, not covered under warranty
    3. Water pump went bad, covered under warranty, $500 to fix if i had to pay out of pocket
    4. Catalytic converter went bad, $630 fix out of pocket
    5. Mass flow index senor went bad, this set off a check engine light, $200 fix out of pocket
    6. Rear view mirror fell off, had to be re-bond by a glass company, $20
    7. Right rear shock broken, $500 fix
    7. Water in foot well of passenger and rear right passenger, $ to be determined. 2 weeks later and $700 later, it was the rear windshield seal and rear passenger door firewall
I have 120K miles on it now. Idk if I'd get it again honestly, maybe it was made on a Monday. I love the way it drives and looks and I'm very thankful the engine and transmission are all great. I hope to get another 120K miles out of it

Oh, the drain hoses from the sunroof. Completely plugged. Bracket that holds the hose on the sunroof side has a bar across it so I can't get a 1/8" snake down it, at best I could only poke a brake/gear cable from a bicycle, which "bottoms out" at a bend somewhere just before it exits. No idea where's the outlet near the wheels, either, as there are no obvious holes, else I'd snake the hoses from down there, upward. Roof area floods and ruined the sunroof switch after leaking so much, even stained the upper area of the A-pillar.

So i changed the vvt sol myself and problem got fixed. Also started to see that the dash said a problem with the power steering and problem is that this car power steering is part of the trans, so you need to give the trans its maintnance, got fixed. electrical issues, i believe it has charging issues because everytime i have the headlights ON and i flip a switch inside the car the headlights dim, but it really isnt that big a deal because everything works. What would be great is a ballpark estimate of how much the repairs would be, especially the timing chain. I know that there is a difference in the cost of getting it done at the dealer vs an independent garage/mechanic but the reason isn't always the labor rate but that the dealer will replace ALL the parts that can/should be done while replacing the timing belt/chain; like the water pump for example. I am looking to buy a used vehicle but clearly, while some are fantastic vehicles the potential problems outweigh all other considerations.

    • @bhough410
      @bhough410 ปีที่แล้ว

As you mentioned the mechanic/customer service should discuss what additional parts that shop thinks should be included in a timing chain replacement. This service would vary by hundreds of dollars from shop to shop, maybe more than $1000 depending on what part of the country. Simply no way the cost could be estimated in a YT video.

My wife bought a 2010 3.6 new. Within two months the first problem started... You would get in the car and the battery would be dead. It would jump off, but you would never know when it was going to happen. This went on for 10 years... GM would do nothing. Then in July 2020, the ECM went out. I went to move the care in the driveway, but it would not start. It was December before the dealer could get an ecm and install it. Since it was sitting up, we had to replace the battery. Since paying over $1000 to replace the ecm, we have not had a starting problem. Next problem, the radio loses its time and the station it was tuned to after the car sits for a couple of hours. No fix for this yet. Now we have a tire air pressure sensor warning. I replaced the sensor, but no luck.
We do not trust this car to go on a trip and it only has 49,000 miles.

I have a 2014 Lacrosse with the 3.6L V6. It's been a great car so far. Had to do a complete valve clean by pulling the intake off... that was a whole day job but wasn't that bad. I didn't use walnut shells... I rotated the engine so valves were closed, then soaked in gas/starting fluid to dissolve deposits. On bad areas I gently used a brass brush. Sucked it out with turkey baster, blew it dry with rag/compressed air, and let evaporate before rotating the engine to the next 2 cylinders to prevent hydrolock. I thought it much safer and cleaner than using walnut shells. For the record catch cans on Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI engines) is a great idea to prevent carbon buildup on valves- just have to remember to drain it out every once in a while.
You also have to pull the intake to change the back three spark plugs. Takes a 15 minute job and turns it into a 2 hour job.
You will want to avoid the 4 cylinder models. They put them in the Regal, Lacrosse, Impala, and a whole slew of other GM products and they were garbage. From what I've heard they had many problems; the worst of which being holes in pistons due to them being aluminum and high compression. They don't seem to have that problem on the V6's.

ECM is mounted in the wrong spot on the v6 3.6 next to the engine under the hood. Bad idea. ECM get way to hot and overheats the computer and car shuts off. You have to wait to it cools to restart the car. Simple fix. Relocate the ECM in between the grill and radiator and mount it. The ECM will then stay cool to the touch and car will not cut off believe me the harness will reach. That's the most common problem with the 2012's and other Buick lacrosse's thank me later

My 2011 Malibu had same problem as it began to run very bad but Impala never had running issues. It did hesitate every so often though on acceleration. The diagnostic system on GM's are horrible. Won't let you know when your battery is bad. My Impala was running on a 6 yr old battery and it started fine the cranking amps went bad (tested bad)causing transmission problems. I replaced battery and all was good drove car car another 33,000 miles no issues with trans.I noticed water pumps are an issue on these cars seen Carfax on one that had pump replaced twice in 30,000 miles.
