    200hp in a tuned ls with amazing engine response and only weighing in at probably 950kgs 980kgs tops will absolutely shit on alot of performance cars on a circuit track. Power to weight ratio and balance is key to racing this civic doesn't need any more power then that. People are forgetting that Hondas were originally made for the corners not to go in straight lines.

    My Japanese girlfriend in Cali, back when we were in high school in Santa Barbara, CA, was given a 1st gen Acura Integra in 87. That was the first time I made the Honda/Acura connection. I just KNEW the Acura line would blow up! My 94 Integra LS (non-vtec) has almost 200grand and still runs great with routine maint.

    @imports247 Exact. The most powered NA hondas using Vtec engines as base, are upgraded without Vtec. See for example BTCC (British Touring Car Campionship) K20s: Their camshafts doesn't have the Vtec lobe. they are like Toda Vtec killer cams. Just high lifts and larger durations, as any NA rally car, kit car, etc.
    Keep in mind that the Vtec is the key to run large durations in high RPMs without losing too much torque at lower range of revolutions. But it is not worth on highly mod'd engines.

    it doesnt matter wether a car has 100hp or 400hp....if its built right and driven well it can be a very fast car....i have no problem with domestic cars, however, i do have a problem with most of the people that drive them because the only thing they can do is sit around saying that hondas and ac's are "gas savers" or "grocery getters" because theyre pissed off that on our way to the grocery store our little four cyl. that we spent maybe a 1/4 on the whole car that you spent just on gas last

    @donvitolover182 who needs VTEC when you can get a proseries crower stage 2 or skunk 2 camshaft. This way the "high lobe" is always engaged and power is more even and readily available across the whole rpm band. Just my 2 bits

      That makes no sense. The same air speed your trying to achieve by locking high lobe at lower rpms just means the engine is over working itself. The whole purpose of VTEC is to achieve optimum air velocity at certain rpms. Unless the engine is a full spec race engine your wasting your time and power

      There is a non vtec head for the b18 that has the same size valves as the vtec head, I believe it’s called the pr8. That should be comparable to the vtec in flow but harder to find them then the normal p75 heads.

    No Acuras have slightly different engines but Acura and Honda are the same maker, Acura's just like a more luxurious version of Honda's , just pretty much the same thing.

    hey man. if you could explain to me what you mean by building an ls motor that'd be awesome. my ls engine has 172K miles on it and is burning oil really fucking fast and i have feeling it's got about 30K miles left till it dies. what would you suggest? like just another ls b18b and get it installed? or what? i wanna bring more power out of this time but no turbo shit. got any ideas?

    Haha, I already do. '11 GTI. Did you know when you change out the ECU software the engine produces 300 pound feet of torque at 3k RPM?
    Instead of replacing every part on your Civic to make it go faster, why not just replace your Civic with a car that already goes fast in the first place?

    What type of work is done to the head to get it to flow that high? Making power above 8k RPM with an LS head is not easy without forced induction so I have to give credit where it's due, this is certainly a well built/well thought out setup. I've always used VTEC heads for my all motor builds simply because they flow better in stock trim, and I'm kind of a maximum effort kind of guy. If I think I can get 200whp with an LS head, then I'm going to automatically be thinking howMuch more I can make with a VTEC head, and go that route. It's just how I operate. For the same reason, the only B series I have left is in my DC2 daily driver. My track toy now has 88x99 K power, just because I saw the maximum potential in that combo over any B series. Nice build man, props.

      An all motor b20 with a p8r head would give most K's a surprise.... p8r heads flow as much air as b16's so you get the low, mid of nonVtec and top range of vtec... basically a nonvtec head ported out and polished from honda with bigger valves ...
      I got my b18b up to 190hp @ 6800 (7800 redline) and 163 tq with OEM p30 pistons and a built head still on 93 and stock b20z manifold.... I'm the other end of the spectrum, I'm the underdog type....Givin the LS some.love, goin down the road less traveled.... mated it to a LS trans with GSR final drive and a quaife LSD and it's a competent, fun car. trackable, but my daily.

      WT0311 the extent of it was in my first comment....all motor, just a built head: bc0022 cams springs and retainers and p30 pistons, stock b18b crank and rods..... Really the tune and all the ancillary things that make it work right....hondata, cam gears, 7lbs flywheel, b16 crank pulley(factory undedrive with ac and p/s since it's smaller than b18b one), a stock b20z manifold (the weird lookin one with the torque box/resonance chamber on top) port matched, ported and polished with a 68 mm TB, CAI, biggest filter that fit in my bay(10"x6" really helps up top),colder plugs with 10mm wires,FPR, prelude injectors but with a walboro cranked up so the 290s really more like 310s, 2.5" exhaust to a mugen ITR twin loop, no cat, 4-2-1 comptech headers, and custom 3/4" TB and intake gasket made to help keep shit cool, blocked off all the water passages on the manifold too... bet there's more I'm missing cause I literally upgraded everything possibe but motor was basic...wanted a OEM/reliable daily so mixed and matched every possible honda part; crv,prelude,ITR, civic ... made a oem frankenstein that pushed165 hp/156 tq stock-ish w/just p30 pistons and the b20z head....
      the p8r head and swapping everything over to a b20 is next, should be good for 220-ish since it basically a factory ported head and more displacement

    it's a little funny how people are mentioning vtec, when the b18b is nonvtec. if it is then it should say lsvtec swap all motor. Either way its still impressive

    What car do you drive? In your favorites are a bunch of civic videos and a how-to on repairing a carbon fiber hood. You probably have a Civic or Integra with 20hp worth of JDM on it. Whooptee-friggin-do.
    The Minecraft videos should be a dead giveaway. Creative people have attention to detail. As a result, we're most likely going to buy the car that exhibits great attention to detail. Right now, the Mk6 GTI is one such car. And if I can afford that, is a $600 ECU flash improbable?

    I guess you've never heard of APR. They're the ones racing GTIs and winning in the Grand-Am series. GoAPR dot com, go look for yourself. While you're there, check out the numbers for the K04 turbo tune, I'll be upgrading to that sometime next year :)

    And to those saying you will never duplicate an LS torque curve with a VTEC engine, as soon as you equal the playing field and use an 89mm crank/stroke in a VTEC B series you get nearly identical power curves. This is one of the main reasons hybrid builds like LSVtec and B20VTEC are popular; better low and midrange power vs a standard VTEC b series but also the immense top end that a VTEC head provides.

    The Miata is the slowest RWD car ever made. The GTI isn't exactly a fast car, and even when it was stock it was still a hell of a lot faster than a Miata.
