I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music were my coping mechanisms from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and my love for the genre has stuck by me ever since. The genre, along with artists like Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, Britney Spears, etc. then motivated me into becoming a hip-hop/pop dancer, which was a very active lifestyle for me literally throughout my whole 20s. (XTRA DANCE 411- I danced for, trained, and performed with 4 different dance teams. My first and main dance team who started my "dance life" was with Marvelous Motion (who later became IaMmE, America's Best Dance Crew Season 6 Champions). A lot of my dance training came from Di "Moon" Zhang, Brandon "747" Harrell, Emilio Dosal, SOREAL, and from attending many dance classes in Houston and L.A. (from amazing local talent to widely-known talents such as Parris Goebel, Keone Madrid, Kyle Hanagami, Lando Wilkins, Mister Wiggles, Rino Nakasone)
Unfortunately, I took a huge break from Korean music and dance around 2015 when I was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis, seizures, and a heart murmur. I was receiving and battling years of chemotherapy and dialysis along with taking 32 pills a day, so I had no mental/emotional/spiritual room to keep myself updated with Kpop or dance. Luckily, I'm in remission now. That doesn't mean that lupus and seizures are gone because I am still very capable of frequent flare-ups if I don't take care of myself, but I make sure to do so enough to manage and live as "normally" as possible. I am also not capable of being an active dancer like I used to be due to my chronic illnesses, but I’m still a dancer in my mind, heart, and soul.
ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear- me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" does NOT mean that anyone who's listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛 Sooo I am currently and actively keeping a weather eye on the KPOP horizon and also using what I’ve learned from my dance years to give credit where it’s due!

I've noticed a weird thing of Aespa, and this is something more on me than anything else since I do it with more than just music. I sometimes will feel jarred by a song they put out initially since it feels like their music starts throwing hands right out the gate, so the first listen I'm always thrown off by everything at first. After a while I'll go back to listen because I know the magic will set in, and I'm more able to focus on everything and end up loving their songs. They get stuck in my head really easily, and I appreciate the experimenting they do with their sounds because it's always really cool to listen.

80% of the background music for this song gives me a bit of the vibe of a British producer/singer/DJ 'Sophie'. She always made electronic music like that... i miss her

Wow, where do I even begin with aespa.. They're incredible. I haven't felt this way about a new group in a longggg time. I love everything about them. This whole project is fascinating.. the concept and execution leaves me speechless every time. And even through all of this storytelling in their universe, you can still apply the meaning of their songs to real life. I really felt that dynamic you described, about the lyrics feeling like a response to negativity..And the role of naevis in the bridge definitely feels like a shoutout to the people who support us in life, in a general sense. And what a bridge that was. aespa is soooooo SM haha, I love it.

NAEVIS "Butterfly that appears in all mv's", SACRIFICED ITSELF😭 and as it was shown in the MV, they thought they defeated the black mamba and suddenly released a "what?" which is when that amoeba appears telling us that it was the black mamba who won this battle. Ive been an SM Stan since Shinee debuted, and me ulting exo and nct, the grps whom people call it "weird song".
Ive seen people saying sm songs lack artistry, and its overrated
But the truth is, music is subjective, theres no such thing as RIGHT ARTISTRY, right sound etc...
As for Savage; I really love the song even in first listen...i like the weird robotic instrumentals, those futuristic phone sounds..the rapping suits the song aswell as the powerful vocals, I like how Ning and Winter harmonizing on the chorus along with Karina and Giselle talk singing...

Your interpretation of the lyrics is so pretty and it makes sense too!! A lot of people get thrown off from them because of the lore references but I personally like it, and obviously there's also some room to personal interpretation outside of the theories just like what you did 😃. I am honestly waiting for your reaction and I am glad that someone knew how SM sounds like from the early days. Their songs are so unpredictable and they are not afraid to go experimental. I agree with you when you said that aespa has the SM trademark sound, but it is the future.

Yeah, I agree with the idea that they're aware of the people trying to bring them down. Kinda like Lemonade, you know? NCT talked about the ones typing bad things about them but at the same time obsessively looking them up. And this whole zuzuzuzu thing -which is basically a tsktsktsktsk- is pretty much a "Shame on you, loser" lol. Truly savage. Also the idea of "get me now or I'll become more savage" makes me feel it's really for the ones that, as you said, "don't get them." Basically, get on board while you can, otherwise we'll be too far gone for you and you'll miss out.

I was kind of underwhelmed with the chorus after listening to the teaser but it grew on me IMMENSELY. This was definitely a better first listen than next level! The second rap verse was way too good and the aggressiveness and growl in winter’s voice in the second pre chorus also! I wished they added the glass breaking part in the first pre chorus in the original audio on Spotify and all that but its ok!

Aespa 1st Mini Album, very show all they skill and talend, they vocal, rap, dance. They title track so cool, and ofc experimental, always, but they slayed.

The Ningning’s scene got hate emojis, Deep Fake, Making Fake of You, mocking up etc. I kinda feels the song is talking about the current social media.
While naevis is MY, because they become soft when meeting naevis, naevis is helping them fight Black Mamba,
other part they’re being savage while battle with Black Mamba.

OH MY GOODNESS YES YES YES!! Aespa is seriously on another Level with their Vocals, Visuals, Dance, and their Rap is Insane just WOW, they're just absolutely INSANE! Ningning and Winter with the Vocals just WOW no joke they can definitely be one of the best Rookie Vocalists in K - Pop maybe even the best just WOW, and Giselle and Karina are absolutely crazy with the Rap and Dance just Wow and even though they are mainly Rappers they can SING like really SING and it is just Crazy SM really knows how get great Vocalists, Rappers, Dancers, and Visuals in their Groups (every K - Pop group has Insane Vocalists, Rappers, Dancers, and Visuals K - Pop is just Insane overall!) I'm always surprised when people think it's not SM style or shocked by it. Most of SM's groups or all have had at least one song like this.
But I do think Aespa is their first group to have it as a signature sound though :)

I think sm has been tinkering with futuristic sounds for quite a while, and as time goes on, and more people like it, they get bolder with it. Shinee was experimental, but they still had a lot of traditional music, exo started very experimental, but wasn't well received so they moved away, then with nct they made a bolder step with it. Futuristic sound isn't completely their concept, but its definitely a big part of neo culture. Now we have aespa going all the way. And I can't say I'm mad at it 😌

For me it's like Red velvet and Exo had a daughter group with the expiremental sound (red velvet does it too) and the space concept (Exos concept is space based) and they have a NCT vibe as well with the heavy bass and honestly I love all of sm town groups :)
