    I have to admit some time back I gave up on playing the guitar and sold my guitar and amplifier. I guess one could say I was in Stand-by mode since.
    However lately I have been viewing many guitarists who specilize in Blues music, too which I love.
    I really like the idea of learning Soloing, Improvising, licks and more. Now here is where my interest has really picked up and that is when I came across the Boss RC-600.
    These loops over loops that one can make are a fantastic thing and when I can find the extra money, I certainly will purchase the Boss RC-600 unit. However first I have to get the guitar and amplifier.
    A Great product.

      I did purchase a Gretch Guitar and the Boss 50 Katina. However, it is slow. When I was involved in music a long time back I learned many bad habits and there was no qualified training back then. I had two brain Sub-dermal Hemotomia operations a year ago last April and my fingers are slow. @@EmilyMcVicker

    I learned "All Play" and "All Stop" are handy. No bass on the verses, nor the pre-verses is ok. I see you save the piano/bass chorus build entirely separate for the the "beatbox"/"cabasa"(which is a tremendously under-used percussion device. Shakers just don't cut it.) And I learned you could've built a background voice track too, because you were very economical with the other tracks. If you had a barisax player or even a small brass section, they could've done a quick head arrangement, on the fly, as you were building the loop to play only on the choruses. I have actually done a brass head arrangement as the singer was doing a verse, with me on trumpet (ugh!), a tenor and a trombone in a club in Vegas at an NAB convention music jam. That was fun. I think it was Polk Salad Annie.

      Oh wow!! That sounds amazing your brass ensemble! Actually on my last cruise ship contract they had built a live looping show with a brass trio and it was pretty effective! It means no one can mess up haha.
      One of those players went on to create there own solo looping show. He streams a little and we raised him once his name is Ellis Willz or EWillz

    Love watching you build songs and explain what you are doing. I like all the detail. Some people just say this is how I play it without telling how they achieved the sound. I also like the way you make the song your own and put your own style into the songs too.

    Your video has me pondering a couple of thigs about my own looping.
    I've tended to lay down my guitars and then put a beat behind it. Just looping one or two bars of rhythm like you do might save me time and up my accuracy and time feel.
    I am also wrestling with what and how much precording to do. It is true that if you do too much prerecording, you may as well be playing to backing tapes, and you are not setting up the song to the energy of the room. But saving time building loops and knowing that the basic foundation is played in time make it pretty tempting.

    • @EmilyMcVicker
      @EmilyMcVicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely recommend short rhythm. If you get good at doing that quickly, it makes the whole show so much smoother.
      drums first is always gonna be groovier than guitar first. 👍

    Hey Emily. I found your channel an it is absolutely amazing! I am a pianist and in a duo with a singer. We want to use the looper to get more energy to upbeat songs.
    I really like your way to set up the loops and how you build up the energy to the chorus. I was curious, what are you doing if a song doesn’t have the „usual“ 4 chords structure and the verse and hook are completely different? Are you recording the hook and playing the verse live?
    All the best and thank for your inspiration!
    Greetings from Germany!

    • @EmilyMcVicker
      @EmilyMcVicker  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes exactly! I rarely record the verse. Cuz I still wanna play the song live and not feel like I’m playing to shitty tracks haha. So I focus on the chorus, and I can get creative and make the verses a smaller dynamic or more acoustic in nature. Songs have to build

    Loving it.. got a 600 like a month ago and I feel like it has me playing less but because I want to to how to use all the great effects and eqs, the routing maze a that's not even the start but I want to find a way to put the same amount (at least) of time playing and uncovering the padora 600 and all its nutty dope abilities but I just keep getting stuck.. is there any opinion u might have about working through a problem I guess ud call it, like that or is there just a completely organic n individual way of figuring out how to make the scales not tip to far away from your goals of playing in the first place.
    Just a rambling thought I thought you might have some insight on.. especially since I never got into any wine house like I'm into van Morrison or dawes or Parliament but I never didn't dig what she did and thar was just a dope take of that tune.
    Ps.. I really like the different camera views.. it was another reason I thought u might not mind talking a second about ur process since u incorporate it into your live performances.. so thanks for everything..
    Peace n Love

    • @EmilyMcVicker

      Hey! Sorry it’s take me so long to respond! I think you’re not alone in this and I think lots of folks get stopped up trying to use all the cool features. But the features are only as good as the creative impulse so I really don’t worry about using them. Actually in a live performance I don’t even use the FX, but I do have a small pedal rig to make set up easier.
      Focus on ur playing! And when you invent a need that the looper can do, then take advantage of it 👍 just don’t stop playing ❤️

      Hey Kim! The biggest selling point of the 600 is the sound quality. Noticeably nicer. I admit, the extra technology has been a little temperamental at times. I haven’t loved any of the new firmware updates. It seems like they are still working out the bugs and glitches. I’m sticking with it for now but… we’ll see 🤷‍♀️
      .
      I have also heard great things about the headrush!

  • @mcmSEA
    @mcmSEA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Heya - thanks for the great vids on the RC 600! Quick question: Have you noticed really odd/truncated note decay when playing stringed things through your RC 600? If I plug in my guitar directly to the amp it sounds awesome; through the RC 600 the notes "die out" really fast like a limiter is on or something.
    (Don't mean to randomize your cool vid and comments... just curious if anyone has noticed this as well - TIA!)

    • @EmilyMcVicker
      @EmilyMcVicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes!! There is a noise suppression on the 600. It is default, but you can turn it off…
      Go to menu, input, dynamics, and on each input there is a dial labeled NS. (Noise suppression) and you can turn it all the way off if you want. Hope that helps!
