I came for the looper I stayed for your beautiful voice!!!! I can listen your voice all day and all night long!!! Damn so good. Your voice is so charismatic... Well done girl!!!
Hi Emily. My name is Bridget and I am from New Zealand. I just bought an RC-600 to use for gigging last week. Have my first gig next Saturday so it is a quick turn around to figure everything out and your videos have been so helpful so thank you. They are super engaging and fun to watch with an easy way of getting info across. With the drum beats, I assigned button 8 to be the rhythm start/stop which makes it super accessible mid song. Still trying to figure out ways to make it sound more natural way of incorporating them. Thank you for all your videos - I have watched so many in the last week. You are incredible at what you do.
Oh Bridget! This is such a nice message thank you for writing! I’m so glad to hear my videos have helped you! I hope you have a great first gig with it and let me know how it goes with the rhythms. If they have work well for you, they can make a big difference! Keep in touch my friend 🫶❤️🤗
A little advice: 1) Try to switch on the "fill-in" and it will sound more like a live drummer playing with you when you switch drum variations. 2) Connect some external switches like: volume pedal for drum volume, and a double switch like Boss FC7 for drum variation 3) Assign one of the knobs 7 - 8 or 9 as drum stop/start so you never have to bend down anymore while you're playing live. *I even assigned patch increase/decrease in "mode 3" to 2 of the pedals that I don't have to bend down to turn the knobs when I want to change to next or previous song.* 😉 I hope this helps you. Have fun! 😊
I love the depth of understanding you demonstrate. You've obviously spent a LOT of time getting fluent with all the different knobs and settings. What you were saying at the end there about accessibility: this is something I find with pedalboards in general. I'm surprised that no-one has really addressed this issue any further than just offering foot-switches to rack or desk-mounted gear, or offering computer apps to edit all those parameters (not so helpful in a live situation). I kinda like the idea of a rack or stand-mount device that has all the knobs and displays and is fully integrated with the pedals that do the kinds of functions you most need in a live situation. Thanks for your videos in general. I'm an older guy (nearly 67) who is getting into (trying to get into) looping for the first time ever, and yours are amongst the most helpful guides I've found so far.
That’s so awesome! It’s great to hear from you. Yeah, I’m surprised about that too. It seems like the companies beef up their products with all kinds of capabilities, but so few people actually implement them in the live game time situation, the accessibility seems looked over 🤷♀️ But my loop pedal has enabled me to play all kinds of gigs that I wouldn’t have been able to previously. so I am always considering practicality. The Looper is supposed to work for me lol it’s not my job to show off all the things it technically can do… well… Except for here on this channel lol
@@EmilyMcVicker Yeah. I've got a Fractal FX8 pedal (which I love!) and its architecture is at least as deep and formidable as the RC600. In fact, the guy I traded it off just found it too complicated, and I totally get that. Like the RC600, it has a small screen, with small buttons to select parameters. Unlike the RC600, it has a great little app to tun on the computer that gives you relatively simple access to all that functionality. So simple. Sit or stand in front of the computer and experiment on the device at your feet That makes all the difference. I'd love to see Boss come up with something similar. Hey... you're something of an ambassador for Boss here. Maybe you could have a word with them? ;-)
Cheers m8, wanted to know if I could turn off the drums but not the loops without bending down, shame we can,t, althought I've an external footswitch that I've set to toogle with my beat and just the highhat on A and 2 more dirrent beats on B, using the highhat to strip it back. I've just shared all my knowledge xx One Love xx
I have the RC 500 and I use the FS 7. On the FS 7 I have the B switch set to Rhythm Start and Stop. I use that for 1 bar or even 1 beat Rhythm Breaks. Of course this is all start and stop, but I sometimes just want Rhythm Stop Start. You are right about the figiting that is required to move through the Rythm stettings with your hands can be cumbersone and not so conveinient in the live moment, but If you know a track and a beat you want to use for a specific song then You obviously have to put it into a memory bank and know what you have set there. You can set different Rhythmn Variations for different tracks so if you want a Chorus variation beat you can put it to a different track. You are awesome, Love your energy and your channel. Keep on Looping in the free world.
Thanks friend! You sound like pro. It’s pretty clever some of the work arounds people have and how everyone chooses their own tricks. I always try to make my transitions smooth as possible so I don’t really want to be messing with the pedal at all. So it feels natural. But if I wanted to use the drums, I would either have to pre-plan my arrangement a little more, or I would have to futz with my settings. That’s probably the main caveat for me
Hi Emily! You can actually record the drums to a track like a normal instrument. Another option is to trigger each sound via midi and play the drums as you want :)
Hey! Thanks for the comment. I played with having one track with just plain drums. But I’m pretty sure it doesn’t record the sound of the drums, it just plays along to an empty track. Because it will allows you to change the style after you’ve recorded. I’m interested in how you use the midi!
@@EmilyMcVicker if you mean creative advantage, I think that's up to the musician. The only reason I mentioned it is that you mentioned in your closing comments that it is not possible, if I recall correctly.
Thanks Emily, for being back, and for another great video. I lovedit! That being said, i have been worried about you... I felt something was wrong with you... Very glad you are better now... Take care!
You’re very thoughtful Hroar ❤️ ya I was sick for a few weeks. I’m still a little raspy when I recorded this video, but I’m feeling much better now and back to performing. Stay safe out there!!
Really great video!! I' m running a home studio, lot of (rack) synth's, keyboards, workstations, digital piano's, acoustic and electric guitars etc. Have a Presonus 64S mixing console , in combination with Studio One. I realized that I was slowly making or creating music whithin the computer. So a couple of weeks ago, I decided to buy a Roland SPD-SX Pro Sampler / Drum pad. Just to record my own rythm's. No longer use Superior Drummer for the drum parts (MIDI patterns). Just create them by myself. I'm playing a little bit of guitar also, but, always recording in Studio one, and then, you know, using the mouse for copying, comping etc. No creative process anymore. So I Googled for a looper pedaL. There where two best pedals, for me. The Boss and the Headrush. So, I'm a guy who's reviewing everything. And a lot of reviews about the Boss, lot of reviews about the Headrush. But I decided to order the Boss, because of your review. Why? Because how you're presenting your video, just great!! Your're not always in tune with your voice, but it doesn' t matter. It is just how you present you'r creativity with the Boss pedal. Regards, Mark Hofland
Hey Emily. Great video. I'm glad you're better and back. Most of your concerns with regards to operating the rhythms are addressed by using a footswitch and some simple assigns.
Excellent demo, Emily! You are charismatic and so easy to watch. And what a voice! But your spirit is perfect for this. And the editing is perfect for your spirit. Bravo. I'm going to watch you other videos.
First, Boss should hire you as a spokesperson…. Great demo. Second, I love your passion for your music and your tools… your beautiful and it shows in everything you do. Smile is killer!
@@EmilyMcVicker You are welcome! Just a huge fan. :) @bossinfoglobal - here is your chance to get a true legit fan of your product. Oh and listen to the drum comment. :)
This is a fantastic demo.. I've been researching this model for some time. I do simple loops with the VE-8 Boss pedal in my acoustic shows, but I'm wanting to go further. My problem with loop performances is that you sit there and watch a person, build, build, build.. and then finally get a song going. It's interesting to me.. the musician in a crowd, but I can tell that normal folks are losing focus. So.. I want to loop more and keep it fun, but don't want to get too caught up in it. Your songs seem to be just right. You take a moment to build (but not too long), and your energy is high throughout the tune. Great job! Great vids. I've subscribed and will be watching your content. 🤘
You’re very sweet! Ya the builds can’t be too long. They should be part of the performance or integrated with the song. So many ways to do it! Keeps the game exciting :)
Gracias, mañana mellega una RC 600 llevo 2 aos con la RC 300 y le cargo mis percusiones analogicas en las pista y canto encima, es interesante tu aporte y todo. gracias
You are the excitement I need to write. I am constantly amazed at your energy, feel and groove. I'm trying to arrange "It's Probably Me" (Sting) for my Jazz Ensemble. We're talkin' MAJOR feel here. Thank you.
Great video and energy! I was hoping to see how you can vary the drums with fills, and variations by using pedal control. I have a Beat Buddy pedal that is incredible with very realistic sounds and it can do this. You can synchronize the BB with your loop pedal and create amazing rhythm combinations. The only problem is the pedal dancing aspect. It would be great to emulate what the BB can do on the 505Mk2 or RC-600 with the internal drum machine.
Hi Emily, without a separate footswitch you are very limited with possibilities to handle the internal drums. For example, there are midi boards, witch you can program f. e. fills, breaks, different drums while you play live. What I agree is the sound from the drums, don't like em that much, that's the reason why I use the "beatbuddy" foot pedal with really fantastic sounds connected in my case via midi with the Boss rc - 500. At the end, it's all a matter of taste. Everyone can see and feel your passion for music. Thanks for sharing🙏I enjoy your videos.... Thumps up and go on doing your music.....with or without a drummachine 👍😉🎶Greetings from Germany, Thomas
You can use the software to create your own tracks and set everything there (intro, fills, variations, song parts, pauses, etc.).: it takes some time but if you always stick to the same patterns to perform the same things it will do the job. A way to have more control for improvisation could be to use something like a beatstep (midi in ch 10) and play/sequence it live.
@@EmilyMcVicker Actually no: I don't like how those drums sound very much so through the years I've recorded various tracks with real drum kits and when I play in front of people I always follow the same arrangements for the same "official" songs. At home, when I try new things I usually record some beat live with an e-drums kit and start from there.
Nice Vid. Your harmonies are awesome. I Just got a RC600, but been using a RC500 for ages and use the drums a lot. Defiantly recommend assigning rythem start stop to an external switch like a boss FS-7. The RC600 had 2 ctrl switch inputs. Total of 4 switch so you could use one for Rhythm start & stop, another for variation etc. I think the RC600 drums are ok wish, maybe for practicing. but not great. I don't like any of the snares, but the cajon is cool. Personally one of the main reasons I got the RC600 it to use rhythms I've made in Ableton. I will use channels 1-3 for guitar and bass, then 4-6 for rhythms I've made. eg 4 for high hats, 5 for kick and snare, 6 for percussion (congas). Then I can control the feel of the drums and use 64 bar loops with lots of variation like a real drummer.
@@EmilyMcVicker The RC600 has better drums than the RC500, or at least more presets, and the drum editor. But I think all the RC's sound a like a drum machine and not a real kit, but still amazingly useful to pull up a drum track of a specific genre of choice. Personally I like the plugin Addictive 2 drums by XLN audio, I use it in Ableton. So I can also make drum loops in Ableton and put them on the RC600. I'm gonna watch more of your vids, you are so talented
I think the drums are considered to be their own track that can be controlled via other tracks. Have you considered adding an external pedal to start/stop the drums? I use a Roland HPD to trigger the drum sounds in the RC-600, I set the RC-600 to record the drums into the loops, and then I can layer those drum sounds how I choose into whichever tracks I want.
@@EmilyMcVicker Yep, I had to alter a few settings to record the drums sounds into the loop, but it’s working exactly as expected for me. Thanks for the inspiration.
I think you can stop and start the rhythm when playing by adding a foot switch controller and setting that to Rhythm start/stop in the system settings:
You are awesome, and make this look so easy...but the truth is I'm still struggling trying to figure out how to record different tracks, assign them a different rhythm and control the trigger and stop events between them. Thank you for this work!
Sounds like you’re a real techie! The pedal can do a lot that i don’t even really need it to. I try to make my arrangements as simple as possible so I know I can reproduce them anytime.
It might be easier if you don’t want to go to all that trouble routing to save what ever beat you like to a memory. Then you can use one of the CTRL pedal inputs to trigger it on and off when you need it. Love your work.
Would you please do a video on using a click track live? Is there a way to route the click track to in-ear monitors without going to the main outputs? I'm learning a lot from watching your videos. Thnx so much for all the time you put into making them and the great content!
Yes I would like to know more about using clicks, thank u for asking. Perhaps also the best way to go back/forth on a guitar to bass effect? (no keyboard here). Great video!
@@EmilyMcVicker First of all, I wanted to say THANK YOU for the great content, I'm new to looping and your channel has been really helpful. Second, I went looking for the video on click tracks that (I thought) you were referencing here...but now, re-reading your comment, it seems like you might have been referring to the FS-6 video, which I did find. Have you done a video on the click track? If so, I'll look again, if not, please consider it. In any case, thank you again for the great videos.
Hi Emily, I love your videos! Lots of inspiration and tips, thank you! On the RC 300 I had a click track on my frist track (with a one bar count in). I havent found a way to set my 600 up the same way. Well, I have figured out how to make a click track and set up the count in, but i havent found a way so that I can record directly on the other tracks (with out waiting for a bar and then hearing the click again). Hope you understand what my problem is, and hope you can help. All the best from Norway! -Christer
It's complicated for sure. As you say the drum rhythms are a good idea when streaming or practicing at home. However, for a live show when you need to stay connected with the audience, not a good idea. Just my opinion. You can't beat humans playing drums and a bass guitarist pun intended. Still love these behind-the-scenes vids. Thank you, Emily
I totally agree! Its easy to get too into the gear and the toys and forget that it’s really about connecting and expressing yourself in a performance. 🥰
Great video! You did alright with the drum machine, and I can sure use that for my new 505MKII, thanks! Wish there was a volume for the drum machine, maybe there is!
Great tips and insight ! You are really talented. Love the demos. I just bought the RC600 myself and am excited to explore the possibilities. Do you happen to know if you can record the drum rhythm audio to a track so that you would then be able to layer percussion tracks and start and stop them independently as with any other track ? Just a thought. There's gotta be a way of doing that internally without patching the audio outs to the inputs I would think, no ? If not.....that's DEFINITELY something Boss should correct in the next firmware update. Keep making great looping videos !
Great demo, just ijust want let you know that you could asign number 8 pedal to a stop and play rytme. tha way you would not have to go and rech the rytme buton with your hand. Keep the good work, and your smile ;-)
Thanks for the tip! Absolutely true! I could assign it to one of my switches if I really wanted to use it. But I would have to sacrifice one of my other functions that I constantly use. if someone was serious about using the built-in rhythms, maybe an FS-6 could be a good supplemental control switch. For me, I think I prefer to beatbox my rhythms after all
Hi Emily, just one question about something that I tried yesterday but was not able to make work. Let's say you have 2 tracks, #1 for the verse and #2 for the chorus and at the end, you repeat the chorus a couple of times, and then you want to have a repetition only with the percussion or rhythm so the audience can sing along, and then at end of the song a repetition of the chorus with the track 2 and the rhythm on. So I tried pressing button 9 in mode 1, for "Start/stop all" function and it worked to stop the track, but when I pressed it again to restart it, it always sent me to track 1 and wouldn't resume the last track that was playing....is there a way to do it? I know I can press the particular start/stop button of track 2, but I was wondering if such a central start stop button existed, because, you know, I could have multiple tracks in parallel and want to stop/start all at the same time. Thanks in advance
Im confused do you want ur recorded “verse” and “chorus” to play at the same time? Cuz that’s what would happen if you pressed the all start- right? Are u using the built in rhythm? And you’re trying to play the rhythm without using ur recorded loops? There’s an option for that in the rhythm menu. What I would do, is just hit track 2 like ur saying. Sounds like you’re trying to do something else also… but i might not be understanding why that isn’t doing all u want it to. I have mastered the technique of “double tap” which really comes in handy. You can start and stop again really quickly to reset where in ur loops you are. But you HAVE TO DO IT IN TIME so the audience is none the wiser. Sounds like if you let the audience run the show for a second, you might have to do that to get back on the rails. Please clarify if I am misunderstanding you!
@@EmilyMcVicker Hi Emily! Thank you so much for your reply. I hadn't read all at first on my phone. Sorry. I'm trying to cover "Chasing cars" from Snow Patrol, and the song has a moment where the chorus continues without the guitar, right? during that time the voice continues singing but this motivates the audience to sing louder...so, I will always have control, but yes, you mentioned the point of the double tap, sometimes it doesn't work for me and it was simpler a single click of the "All start/stop" button. I'm using the onboard rhythms. In my tests of a couple of days ago, when I pressed "All start-stop" everything stopped but only track 1 (verse) would always start. I was expecting that the "All" meant "all current/running tracks and rhythm" so when you press All Start, all the ones that were muted (active tracks) get triggered again. May this be due to a system bug? Thanks again.
I think that the possibilities of the rhythm machine will be better if you use a midi controller, you can also use it on iOS. I recently installed the touchOSC application, very convenient, there is an opportunity to use 16 assistance on boss rc 600
Anybody know if there's a way to add a drum roll after a few measures, or did the brainiacs at Boss think it wasn't necessary? I'm hoping my limited knowledge is the reason I can't figure it out.
does anyone know if theres a way to actually change the rhythm sound "patches" and import your own drum sounds? Im basically trying to change the sound of the "guide" patch that I use as a metronome to something better. And I don't want to waste a track just to be using my own metronome sound with nothing else on it.
NICE to hear the "cons", it really does not concor a multitracker but it seems to be far more faster to do things with. Could you consider to record an album of songs just with that machine?
In regards to the rhythm functions; how does this compare to the Boss RC-10R? From looking at the specs, I can't tell if maybe the 10R actually has more features?
Hmm I’ve never worked with the rc-10 cuz it’s just one track, right? I’m not sure when it came out. Are the rhythm options similar to the ones u see in my demo? Others have asked about it too
Supposedly, the 600 has the same sounds as the 10-R. Looks to be the case so far. The 10-R is easier to dial up what you want and add intros, fills, endings, and fades. However, the 10-R does add an auto fill every 4 measures that cannot be deleted, is limited to 2 tracks, and you cannot save the name of the memory. Still a great unit! The 600 gives you more control over all the parameters of the drums, but it takes more time to program them all. Still learning, but drum control plus more tracks is why I bought the 600 too. Still the 10-R is nice to have for quicker sessions. Hope that helps!
I tried what you did. Before, I upgraded the firmware and tried what you did but there is no sound coming from it. I tried hooking the wire from my computer to the Boss RC600 and couldn't hear the sound. Then, I unplugged it and now could hear the computer but still no sound from the Boss RC600. What am I doing wrong? I am a true novice.
No worries, friend! This Looper is not super user friendly if you haven’t used Looper before. I am wondering what plugging your computer into the Looper is for? Plug an instrument into the input and Plug a speaker into the output. The computer cable is only for firmware updates.
Hi Emily, this is a wonderful tutorial. From a drum standpoint I’m planning on using my Maschine mk3 as the drum section where I can just play a drum loop on the Maschine and then record said loop if desired on the RC600. Also I can have different banks easily switchable on Maschine for my keyboards or pads/whatever. Obviously you need Maschine standalone or maschine and a PC. Any thoughts on this ?
Oh nice! Are they able to sync their clocks with midi? If you have a separate drum machine doing the main rhythms, it’ll be like having a 4th track available. Sounds like it could be really cool!
@@EmilyMcVicker so I managed to hook them up. I used Maschine as my Midi Clock out (midi cable out) and used RC600 as MIDI clock in. I can now tap my beat on my Machine and it correctly syncs to the RC600. I can use the drum beats on RC600 and they follow what I tap out on the Machine. Nice and easy to get a beat going!! Ie RC600 a slave. MIDI in only.
For those who are interested Re: Maschine/RC600 sync To use Maschine MK3 and RC600 together you can use Maschine as the clock master and RC600 as the slave. This allows you to tap out the tempo on Maschine and RC600 is automatically at the same tempo. You can use “Loop Start” button on Maschine to play everything on RC600 as well as whatever you have on Maschine. This will cause all loops on the RC600 to play (and if you have the rhythm switched on that will play too). If you have nothing on RC600 then the rhythm will play if you have it enabled. There are 2 modes I’ve played with that seem to work well. 1: Machine records synths loops (the usual machine workflow, record drums/synths/pianos/etc). Once playing you then record to RC600 through a footswitch press to a track, effectively storing a bounced loop. 2: you use Maschine as a synth input device and you just record to RC600 as you would any other instrument. Using Quantize on RC600 really helps. I’m sure there’s a possibility of using RC600 as a clock master and it can then tell Maschine to play whatever you have loaded (eg a whole song with parts etc). I need to play with this. I have a NI keyboard too that integrates really well with Maschine for the record.
I connected minilab 3 to rc 600 via 5 pin midi cable. i could play the drum kits in rc 600 via minilab. But rc 600 does not record the drums? Any insight. I can only hear the faint unusable drum sounds playback.
Hmm I’m not sure if I’m picturing ur set up correctly. I dove into the drum sounds in this video, but in my own show I don’t really use them. Do u use them?
There is a ton of hands free control possible if you change a switch assignment or two. So many options are there! ...I think for you though, beat boxing is more your thing.
Ha! I think you’re right. If I was using the rhythms in the machine, I’m sure I’d find a way to make it work. But I do like and prefer making my own grooves and working that way 😜👍
Cool video. I need to fade the rhythm at the end of the track when I press ALL STOP. I have faded all other tracks but the rhythm track pays at full volume to the end of the loop. I am stumped any ideas?
@@EmilyMcVicker I think the problem is that I haven't actually recorded the rhythm so I am just listening to the machine not a track. So maybe you can show me how to actually record?? Or is it the case that the drum machine is not really part of a loop but playing along behind the loop? In which case it will never go along with a fade but will need to be coded stop with loop.
i feel that the included drums are good enough for practicing, jamming. but also they sound a little gimmicky , and i doubt they take you anywhere. not a game changer but still a welcome bonus i guess.
Hi! Very informative video. Seems like RC 600 is a dream looper. Here is a quick question. Can RC 600 do this? Memory 20: 1 simulstart , 2, 3, 4 as slow fade in ... I tap out ~ 100 bpm. Original tempo is 114. I end the section and want to change. I cue up Memory 21. Change is immediate Memory 21: 1. 2. 3 simulstart, will record on 4 after one loop. Tap from 100 bpm to 105. Cue up memory 20 again. Change is on the beat A bit more elaborate: Some time ago I've bought RC 50 thinking it could do everything I need . I play keyboards and I wanted to have interactive playback device with occasional looping. Something that could replace ableton live and all interfaces, software problems, etc. Fatal bug for me in RC 50 was its inability to switch between memories in time and keep global tempo. You see, I would like to change tempo during playing and I want whole system to follow along. I like to organize my songs into multi mode with tracks fading in, using volume pedal etc. So I use 3 loops for just one section of the song and I would like to switch memories back and forth for different sections. Is there a way to make it work seamlessly in RC 600? Is it possible to do this hybrid playback/recorded set? Is writing to memory fast and seamless?
Hey! Wow I’m impressed with your planning skills. Sounds like you’re wanting to go seamlessly from song to song - is that right? Writing memory takes 3 clicks: press exit/enter together, click yes, and then click write. Then its saved. There are some settings that are system settings and some that are specifically saved to a memory. I bet if you played around on this looper (or any looper) you’d figure out how to make it work for you. But i don’t think it has a global tempo for example.
@@EmilyMcVicker Yeah, I want to seamlessly switch songs. I've overgrown 3-phrase looper RC 50 and looking if this would what I want. Global tempo is one think I look for. Another one is seamless switching. RC 50 does annoying 'hiccup' when switched. Even with same tempo it adds 1/16ths when switching. So unmusical.
@@micindir4213 You can switch memories with an assigned switch and write them too if you want to do it on the fly. I believe this is the video where I saw this. th-cam.com/video/eR9niFBUaOc/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Teej
Hi, Thank you for making this and giving examples on how it sounds and works. I have a question. When you stop the loop, why do you double click on the third button?
There are a couple ways to stop loops. You can click stop on the specific track that you recorded while the other loops play, or you can assign a button to be all start/stop. Depending on what I want the music to do, I use both. Does that answer the question? I’m not sure what you mean by ‘third button’
This machine - like most pedals is a faulty design. I have a lot of knobs, switches, and sliders I need to use my hands on and I have buttons I need to step on with my feet. Why the hack do I put all this into a single box which can only be placed wrong - either I put it on the table and can´t operate the buttons with my feet or I put it on the floor and constantly have to bend down. Why don´t I simply make a device that I can operate with my hands and connect it to a footswitch to use the buttons to step on?
You know, that’s kind of what I’ve been working with on my live stream set up on Twitch these days. Rc-505 with a control switch. Check it out! My newest 505 videos are using it that way. What’s your current set up like?
Hey Darren! In the rhythm section, I mentioned there are 3 screens of options. On the 3rd screen, there are fill intros and endings, but I didn’t mess with them in this demo. I don’t know if there are organic drum fills for between sections.. If i find, I’ll let you know!
I'm learning a lot from you, in addition to going going through the relatively useless manual, and the somewhat more helpful parameters PDF 👊🤣 From what I gather, if you have fills activated in the menu you mentioned, the unit will automatically trigger fills for you if you trigger another track before the current loop ends. Surely we can assign one of the 9 foot switches to toggle rhythm on and off, or trigger a fill. I don't really have room for an fs7 LOL. Great job, and thanks for your help. I'll post a picture as soon as I get my board sorted. (I'm a reasonably accomplished guitarist who pretends to be a singer, I bought the RC 600 because it essentially replaces my mixer, and it will hold the backing tracks that I've already made. But what a learning curve LOL.)
Wow!! Totally cool. Nice drum machine on the RC- 600. I've got the RC-30. Which i've had for years. RC-600 has a better drum machine, among many other things, i'm sure. 👍💪👌
Would it work with an external expression pedal to turn the volume up and down of the rhythm sound? Can 2 volume pedals be connected to the unit: 1 for the general volume and 1 for the rhythm part only? That would really create a real dynamic on the entire sound or the music as a whole!!
I came for the looper I stayed for your beautiful voice!!!!
I can listen your voice all day and all night long!!!

*I even assigned patch increase/decrease in "mode 3" to 2 of the pedals that I don't have to bend down to turn the knobs when I want to change to next or previous song.* 😉
I hope this helps you. Have fun! 😊
👍
Hi Im looking forward about this advice and now i found it. Is there any video tutorial about this methods?
@@ardhachandra5921 I'm glad it helped you. I don't really do video tutorials except if Roland or Boss ask and pay me for it. 😄
It seems like the companies beef up their products with all kinds of capabilities, but so few people actually implement them in the live game time situation, the accessibility seems looked over 🤷♀️
But my loop pedal has enabled me to play all kinds of gigs that I wouldn’t have been able to previously. so I am always considering practicality.
So simple. Sit or stand in front of the computer and experiment on the device at your feet
That makes all the difference.
I'd love to see Boss come up with something similar. Hey... you're something of an ambassador for Boss here. Maybe you could have a word with them? ;-)
First time viewer ...and I'll be back. Very helpful, and good pace.....most importantly, short and sweet. Not too long. Thank you.

Very helpful demo and my god beautiful setup, everything nicely laid out. Good work!
Oh good! Thank you!
I love it. I’ve had my rc300 for 4yrs and it’s the rhythm section for me.
On nice! Ya I love how that one has all the knobs accessible at all times! Such a great pedal 🤘🤘🤘
Oh that’s very clever! I bet that is a nice touch 👍
Emily. Always so generous and brilliant. Thank you. Have a good day my friend
Alberto!!! Good to hear from you friend. You too :)
That’s probably the main caveat for me
great review and critique - very musical !! many thanks
Many thanks!
Thankyou for this you answered all the questtions i had in that 1 demo
Oh! Good! I love that 🤘😆
@@EmilyMcVicker if you set rhythm input, under routing, to loop, you can record the rhythm to a track.
@@NickleRock is there a musical advantage to doing that?
@@EmilyMcVicker if you mean creative advantage, I think that's up to the musician. The only reason I mentioned it is that you mentioned in your closing comments that it is not possible, if I recall correctly.

Thanks Emily, for being back, and for another great video. I lovedit! That being said, i have been worried about you... I felt something was wrong with you... Very glad you are better now... Take care!
You’re very thoughtful Hroar ❤️ ya I was sick for a few weeks. I’m still a little raspy when I recorded this video, but I’m feeling much better now and back to performing. Stay safe out there!!
lovely exposition. Lovely and graceful yourself.
Thank you Lucio! You’re sweet to say it 🥰🥰🥰
Really great video!!

Hey Emily. Great video. I'm glad you're better and back. Most of your concerns with regards to operating the rhythms are addressed by using a footswitch and some simple assigns.

@@EmilyMcVicker are you planning on doing another video on this?

@@EmilyMcVicker The best one is the live performance from Fields of Japan with incredible "Sister Moon" at the end.
This is a great idea! Maybe this video needs a follow up…
@@EmilyMcVicker Can't wait to see it!

@@EmilyMcVicker can't wait!! BTW I'm typing up a chart for you...
Nice! Is that what you do?
@@EmilyMcVicker Actually no: I don't like how those drums sound very much so through the years I've recorded various tracks with real drum kits and when I play in front of people I always follow the same arrangements for the same "official" songs. At home, when I try new things I usually record some beat live with an e-drums kit and start from there.
Amazing!
Thanks!
Oh nice! Thanks for sharing all that! Sounds like you don’t love the 600’s drums, but the 500 had better ones? Dang.
Great job. Looking forward to more videos.
Thanks so much friend! Coming right up 🤘😆
Hey, great looking video!
Hey, thanks! 🙏
That sounds like a great idea! And that’s working for you how you want it?
@@EmilyMcVicker Yep, I had to alter a few settings to record the drums sounds into the loop, but it’s working exactly as expected for me. Thanks for the inspiration.
I think you can stop and start the rhythm when playing by adding a foot switch controller and setting that to Rhythm start/stop in the system settings:
Yes that is a good idea! That’s what I will do if I start using them more regularly

Hi Emily, I love your videos! Lots of inspiration and tips, thank you! On the RC 300 I had a click track on my frist track (with a one bar count in). I havent found a way to set my 600 up the same way.

@@EmilyMcVicker Thanks!
I bet there is a way to do that. But I haven’t gotten there yet! Haha lemme know how it goes :)

Aw ya rock on!
Oh interesting! Do you bring a computer or iPad to work your looper?

Yea!
Have you used a foot switch to work with it? Do you have any tips on how to work with all these variations?
Anybody know if there's a way to add a drum roll after a few measures, or did the brainiacs at Boss think it wasn't necessary? I'm hoping my limited knowledge is the reason I can't figure it out.
Lemme look! Do you need a drum roll specifically? Or some kind of fill would work?
does anyone know if theres a way to actually change the rhythm sound "patches" and import your own drum sounds? Im basically trying to change the sound of the "guide" patch that I use as a metronome to something better. And I don't want to waste a track just to be using my own metronome sound with nothing else on it.
Oh, that would be a really cool feature! I don’t know if it’s possible, but if you figure it out, I’d love to see and hear!
NICE to hear the "cons", it really does not concor a multitracker but it seems to be far more faster to do things with. Could you consider to record an album of songs just with that machine?
I don’t know why you would do that. This machine is for live. There are better tools and Daws for recording albums.
@@EmilyMcVicker I haven’t tried to sync clocks yet. Will let you know if I suss that out!
For those who are interested Re: Maschine/RC600 sync
To use Maschine MK3 and RC600 together you can use Maschine as the clock master and RC600 as the slave.
@@EmilyMcVicker yes

Thanks ❤️❤️❤️
There is a ton of hands free control possible if you change a switch assignment or two.
So many options are there! ...I think for you though, beat boxing is more your thing.
Ha! I think you’re right. If I was using the rhythms in the machine, I’m sure I’d find a way to make it work. But I do like and prefer making my own grooves and working that way 😜👍
Cool video. I need to fade the rhythm at the end of the track when I press ALL STOP. I have faded all other tracks but the rhythm track pays at full volume to the end of the loop. I am stumped any ideas?
Oh man! So you programmed a fade, but the rhythm didn’t fade? That seems glitchy … hmmmm 🤔
Wow Awesome sauce xxx You have an Amazeballs Voice xxx great info, great help xx One Love xx
Thank you friend! ❤️🫶❤️
nice video ty
Oh good! Glad you dig it!
i feel that the included drums are good enough for practicing, jamming. but also they sound a little gimmicky , and i doubt they take you anywhere.
not a game changer but still a welcome bonus i guess.
Yea I feel that was about all the synthetic drum sounds in general. Sounds karaoke ish…. I prefer to Record and loop my own rhythms usually
Change is immediate
Memory 21: 1. 2. 3 simulstart, will record on 4 after one loop. Tap from 100 bpm to 105. Cue up memory 20 again. Change is on the beat
A bit more elaborate:
Some time ago I've bought RC 50 thinking it could do everything I need .
It does have capabilities of presets to set up a gig
Yep. 100 presets 👍 although certain settings are per track and others are global
So Cool Maestra! Cheers From México City Phillter/Sista!
Hermano! Aww you’re so sweet! Thanks for the love! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
What do you think of the 605 using the footswich in order to not climb down every time with the 600?
I think a suplemental foot switch would be a good idea if you’re serious about using these drum rhythms.
The accessibility can be enhanced by adding some extra pedals
Very true! I would recommend that to anyone who is serious about using any of these rhythms
How do you do rhythm drum fills? Will the accessories foot switch do it?
You are awesome 👌
Hey Darren! In the rhythm section, I mentioned there are 3 screens of options. On the 3rd screen, there are fill intros and endings, but I didn’t mess with them in this demo. I don’t know if there are organic drum fills for between sections.. If i find, I’ll let you know!
I'm learning a lot from you, in addition to going going through the relatively useless manual, and the somewhat more helpful parameters PDF 👊🤣
From what I gather, if you have fills activated in the menu you mentioned, the unit will automatically trigger fills for you if you trigger another track before the current loop ends.
👍💪👌
Some of the beats are nice. Some are better than others to my ears
Also, do you recommend using like an Electronic Rhythm Pad instead of the RC-600 for Rhythms?
For me, personally: I am a beat boxer and auxiliary percussionist. So you’ll notice in my performances I like to make my own beats
It needs a separate hand controller that can be placed higher so that the performer doesn’t have to bend.
Ya that would be such a good idea 👍
Awesome
Thanks 😊 🙏
You can trigger the different drum instruments with a midi pad . 😉
Well sure. You still need a free hand to do it 😉
Would it work with an external expression pedal to turn the volume up and down of the rhythm sound? Can 2 volume pedals be connected to the unit: 1 for the general volume and 1 for the rhythm part only? That would really create a real dynamic on the entire sound or the music as a whole!!
Yes I think it can! It has 2 inputs for expression pedals. I have played with it a bit but didn’t commit to using one yet
Lovely video, thanks! Please can you share more about click tracks?
Yes! Thank you! Lemme play with these options and I’ll make a video I think 🤘😄
Great Demo Emily PS You are super talented!!! I would love to see your live show on Video. Got Any? Thanks
Hey! I do a live stream on twitch 3 days a week 🤘😆 and if you’re ever in Seattle I gig out too 👍
Great video! One guestion-where is 7/8 rhythm pattern?
Lol I think u have to build that one urself with the loops 😉
@@EmilyMcVicker but it's written in rhythm patterns under "fusion"..
grazie dall'italia....bravissima....
Yay! Thanks for writing, my friend! 🤗❤️
Great! Thanks very much for explaining all of that! What's the name of the main song you did?
The song where I’m demoing how the loops trigger? It’s a Sia song called “Cheap Thrills”
You’re hilarious and completely entertaining…
Hahaha! Thanks Darrell I try 😂
