Excellent video and correctly showing how to fix the slack! Unlike most videos that get it wrong. Was a bit quiet at times though, but helpful and simple explanation.
I had mine into a repair shop, but they did not tie the cord properly and the handle came off, how can I put it back ,I just need to find the end , push it THROUGH and tie it better !! But the whole thing VIBRATES LIKE CRAZY , I. ALMOST CAN NOT HOLD ON TO IT !!! AND, the repair guy sprayed the whole inside with carburator fluid !!!
Thanks! I realize it has terrible audio, but I literally just watched my own video to remember how to replace the cord properly. That's the reason I originally made the video, so I could remember how to do it when I had to do it again!
What is really annoying is when you painfully explain that the soft start does not require a full travel pull, just a constant pressure until the spring kicks motor over to a person borrowing trimmer and they give it the he-man pull and snap the dang rope! Then when they decide to replace the rope they make a mess, don't get the snap ring in right and the next he-man pull tears out the recoil spring. So, never again will I lend this baby out!!! This time I was able to get recoil spring rewound, rope in properly only to realize the snap ring is gone! GRRR!!!
@@johnheywood9826 Yup! Thank goodness it only financially cost 59 cents for a new snap ring. I love my Stihl! I have the plastic propeller head. I never have to deal with string again! A little known factoid, keep trimmer string in a zip lock bag and every few months put a couple of tablespoons of water in the bag. The string needs hydration so it doesn't get brittle. Have a great day!

Thanks much! Terrible audio, I know, but glad it helped.
Thank you fixed exactly what I needed to fix!
Good tutorial man. Helped me fix my fa56rc pull cord. Keep up the good work.
Right on!
Some one get this man a microphone
What groove? You didn’t show it just mentioned it. Can’t fix based on this video as can’t see how you wound it up and caused tension from the spring
Sorry man. At 40 seconds you see I pull the cord into a groove on the wheel and wind it around.
Must be different then my FS 50 cause it doesn’t work for it

Could you possibly let me know what length the pull cord needs to be? Thanks for your help.
I can measure it later and let you know, but you can always shorten it at the handle.
My cord pulled all the way out measured 22 inches. I'd start with a 24 inch piece of cord.
Excellent work
