Great video! I repaired my cord about a month ago and yesterday I had to do it again! I guess I didn’t tie a big enough knot on the handle side so it yanked right out. I was able to come back to your video so I could mend it again! Thanks!
Good video- took me a couple of times to figure out the smaller diameter spring that sits under the small housing against the outside cover had lost tension. $13 spring, $3 rope and we’re good to go.
Thanks for this. I was struggling to get the spool to catch on the spring. What I wound up doing was making a gap in the head of the spring and dropping in a little piece of trimmer string to make the head of the spring stick out more so the notch in the spool could catch it.
@@WesternEquipment Yes. The little hook on the spring was just a tiny bit too far away for the spool to catch it. The piece of trimmer line pushed the spring towards the center just enough to wind the spring up. Without your video, I would have struggled to figure out what was keeping the spring from winding. Most other videos have the model that uses a C clip, and the bottom spring is exposed.
You did a great job , very thoroughly demonstrated !!! I made a comment, if you could answer me, I am so disappointed with the repair service I went to with my SF94R STHIL weed trimmer, I thought it needed a new Air filter, they said no, but it is filthy in the SPONGE SIDE, the guy said the cardboard side is the one that needs to be clean and mine was , then he went in the back and sprayed the whole thing down with Carburator fluid! And it was so hard to start, and the whole thing VIBRATES so bad I can not hardly hold it, then while trying to start it , the handle came off, now I watched your video, and will attempt to repair it, I think that the Knot was not tight enough !!!! Can you tell me what you think about all of these things and is there a cure ?????
Always good to know. Starter ropes are funny. I've a honda hrx217 that has electric start and a pull rope. The pull rope broke at the pull handle, but I'd never even used it,lol.
@@ciphercode2298 That could be it. Just struck me as funny that it broke from just being there. My weedwacker pull string is hanging on by a thread, that's how I found this video

The best explanation I’ve found after looking at probably 15 videos! Good job!
I was able to fix my broken pull starter thanks to your great tutorial. Thank you very much!
Awesome! I am glad I could help and get you back going!
N
Awesome video. I know why it keeps breaking. I know overtime it will eventually fail but they notch where the knot sits is sharp.
Fine video! I just found it and, as luck (or lack of luck) would have it, I need to fix the rope on my Weedeater this afternoon! Thank you!

Pretty creative! Did you get it fixed that way?

Yes, they can be a real pain!
Sounds like crappy rope, if it broke from merely existing
@@robs1852 only thing I could figure is that where I haul it around in my pickup and wind vibrates the rope it wore in two.
