    Counter clock wise to remove looking from the top side of the trimmer head is, when viewed from the other side, the bottom of the spool, clockwise. You loosening the head by turning it in a fashion that would be tightening for a standard nut and bolt. In short it is a left hand thread and should be turned counter to the standard threaded nut/bolt. Once these guys get tight from heavy it is not so easy to be sure.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well said! If you change heads out frequently, you don't have to think about the reverse threads.

      markthomasbuilder don’t forget to put a bit of penetrating oil before unscrewing. Some people don’t take the head off very often.

    My old trimmer head spun off a couple of times and I thought I lost something. I had the plate upside down. I bought a new trimmer head and was a little bummed out when I figured out what I'd done. You proved having a spare is a great idea, a speed loader so to speak.... Thanks...

I'm pretty Mechanically minded And can figure things out pretty quickly but by following your instructions you are saving me a lot of time I just want to go home it's 12 midnight and I've got to get this done before the water level rises. Trying to replace the head on a trimmer but couldn't figure out how to get the head off. This video helped.
    Alternatively to this gator makes a quick loading head. You just pull 10' of wire through and twist it to wind it. The whole process takes 60 seconds and you only need one head.

    I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
