after a while i noticed the formula, it kinda killed it for me. i asked my brother if season 8 (that was the next season coming to netflix at the time) had any of the formula in it and he laughed, saying it happens twice. once in the first 5 episodes and then again throughout the season. it goes like this: barry will lose his powers, regains them, learns a new thing he can do, a beloved character will die, a much less deserving character will survive, iris will have something wrong with her, someone goes into a coma, a friend becomes a foe, a foe becomes a friend, time travel shenanigans, barry will not know what's going on for much of the season (even if it's obvious to everyone), everyone levels up. it's not in any particular order, but every one of those things happen in every season, twice in seasons 8 & 9.
New drinking game: Take a shot every time a new speedster shows up who is faster than Barry. Take a shot every time a new Harrison Wells shows up. Take a shot every time they time travel. Take a shot every time they say “Run, Barry, Run.” Take a shot every time Barry could have saved someone but didn’t.

definitely sounds a lot better in a recap, but damn things really did go downhill from season 4 onwards, to be more specific the writers seemed to write themselves into a corner that only the power of love of frienship could pull them out from lol, but honestly the flash is one of the hardest heroes to write stories for, the fact they were able to go 4 seasons with top tier writing and 5 seasons with a range of meh to pretty good writing is a feat imo
I don't know how you did this recap while staying serious. I nearly died after hearing "the power of love" because that's what the show really was after season 3
Kudos for pushing through this. Despite this being a really good recap, it shows how disjointed so many of these arc are, how often the solution is overly simple after a whole season of trial and error and new (and sometimes old) characters never appear again without consequence. Barry, both as a character and a superhero, hardly evolved in the show just for the sake of otherwise becoming too overpowered, too experienced, kept repeating the same mistakes... Crisis made an even bigger mess of all the DCTV shows, and while it served a purpose in the comics, it was just something that happened in the shows - the consequences often being contradicting or just being there for an episode of two, but often the results being completely ignored moving forward (same with lots of Barry's time travel, that only served for a few episodes of drama or when the writers remembered it to be a thing). Why they made a point in the crossover Crisis to have all DC heroes end up on one Earth when they then obviously didn't have the budget or logistic means to actually use it, is a mystery to me (just so they could use and market a famous comic book event?); Crisis was pointless and inconsequential aside from the narrative plotholes it left [in DCSG it resulted in essentially nullifying the first 4-5 seasons; e.g. a flashback added on that Prime-Earth Kara had been using her powers (incl. flying) as a teen, so the very pilot should have happened differently and she had a bf who knew about her powers then which would also have changed many many of the character driven plot points about both her romantic life and double-identity issues in the earlier seasons]. Even in the Flash there were some later throwbacks to earlier season that should not have happened, several characters should not have remembered them, either due to Barry's time-travel changes or Crisis, while other times it was used as a handwash short-route to explain "well, it must have happened in the new past". Because of Crisis aliens did exist alongside meta--humans from the start. And, oh, don't get me started on all the arbitrary ways they kept bringing the Reverse Flash back, when he previously was supposedly defeated for good... ...somehow I watched the whole series, so despite all my complaints it was entertaining. But oftentimes it was like watching a car-crash happening in slow motion...

I was a fan of Flash early on I even managed to get to the Mirrorverse season. I think what hurt the storylines and creativity was really after the Covid hiatus. The show was never able to regain momentum and the storylines became too repetitive. The cast and crew did well while it lasted tho..
I honestly miss when Barry would look at a crime scene and the clues would be shown on screen as he dismantles the villains get away and motive like in the first episode. Made me think he was incredibly brilliant AND was honestly setting up a super cool detective style of not only the Flash being a good hero but Barry the Forensic Scientist being super observant and good at beating bad guys even before his powers. Missed opportunity for the rest of the show tbh I think. 😪
I know whoever controlled the story of this show has a connection with the future and maybe even other timelines from a higher source even if it's just divine influence. I say this because there's specific connections from this show to me that nobody should currently know unless they're pulling leaked information from the future. There is hidden meanings behind many things within this show that only I would currently know. I'm sensing that both good and bad intentions are behind this attempt to alter my mindset and therefore alter this timeline from their source's future.

The longer you listen to this video, the more ridiculous you realize the series is. It’s also hilarious seeing all the comments of people talking about when exactly they gave up on the show 💀 I think I made it to 5 or 6 before I clocked out hahaha
Some villains from the earlier seasons would have easily be perfect villains for the later or even the final season.
Fantastic recap!
Thank you for this.
I've watched the first 5 seasons like, 5 times and always start getting tired of it, but still wanted to know what was going on, but couldn't bring myself to do it again XD
Best Soap Opera ever!
Thanks for the review.
10:26 this is wrong Jesse didn’t stay, She left with her father
Thanks man you just saved me from wasting my time for 6seasons
I was a fan of Flash early on I even managed to get to the Mirrorverse season. I think what hurt the storylines and creativity was really after the Covid hiatus. The show was never able to regain momentum and the storylines became too repetitive. The cast and crew did well while it lasted tho..
After watching the whole show, you make it sound WAYYY better than what it was
POWER of love. LoL. Can you do the same for arrow and legend of tomorrow and supergirl ?
34:14 DEATHSTORM from BLACKEST NIGHT!!!! Awesome reveal!
Would love to see all the other tie ins to this series on here.
You could tell ridiculous he know it is getting when he says “in season 9, the final season of the flash” in that tone
Season 7 was the last season I could sit through lol
For real😂😂
you are truly amazing. outstanding work!!
Watching this in 2024 is crazy. This is supposed to be the year that the flash goes missing 🤯
When I first saw bart.. I was like damn he got a gay son
Season 1 reverse flash moments up to zoom's times were the best.
The more you go into the series youll realize everything started relying on "THE POWER OF LOVE"
you’ve got something wrong, the one you call “the real jay garick from earth 2” is from earth 3 not earth 2, jay garrick doesn’t exist in earth 2 cause henry allen exists in earth 2 so there’s never a jay garrick, he’s from earth 3 and even says so in the last episode of season 2
This was a pretty good series, I only got to see up to the point were the thinker guy was stopped, and like a season after that because I don't have money. But it was pretty nice watching while I was in college n stuff for a short time.
I love how harrison wells or the eobard version are found in almost all the seasons they just wanna keep reintroducing either the real Harrison wells or eobard thawne for reverse flash
39:45 you come down the stairs and see these mfs what’s your next move
After powering through all the seasons of The Flash, I think I've developed super speed too! I can now finish a season in a flash!
Season 1- Barry gets power
Season 2 to Season 9 - Villains comes and flash defeats it and now this repeats
for real season 7 and up are INSANE LOOOOL WHATR WAHT WHAT
Can you recap all the Arrowverse shows? There were just too many to keep up..
Fact
Take a shot every time he says "With Central City saved again"
The Flash is my favourite superhero of all time. It was so difficult to watch this adaptation start off strong and then slowly go downhill. (I'm my opinion.) Grant Gustin is a talented actor and anchored the show until the end.
Apparently not everyone got powers in CENTRAL CITY.
I finished all seasons of The Flash so fast, even Barry Allen couldn't catch up!
You know how hard you have to throw a mf for buddy to land 5 months in the future?
