  • We’re part-time residents of Coronado Island, but to be perfectly honest, we rarely make it across the bridge to San Diego proper. So when we decided to do an ultimate food tour of the city, we met up with local expert and native Bianca Beale, who’s the founder and owner of So Diego Tours, a local team that produces amazing food, drink, and cultural experiences for tourists, families, and larger groups.
    (You can learn more about So Diego Tours and book your own experience at SoDiegoTours.com and follow them on Instagram at / sodiegotours )
    Over the next 6 hours, Bianca took us around the city to try some of her favorite San Diego restaurants and foods. We tried Little Italy San Diego restaurants, Gaslamp Quarter Restaurants, and the world-famous Cali Burrito in Ocean Beach. We tried fantastic lattes, tacos, seafood, cocktails, Greek foods, vegan cookies, and more.

    ABOUT US.
    We’re the Lockwoods: a family with 3 kids, 5 careers, and endless passion for adventure. Two years ago, we decided it was time for Phil's ad agency to abandon the in-person, 5-day workweek. So they 86’d the office and work hours, allowing our own family to start traveling almost constantly. We now work, school, and explore in a different place every week-from our own mountain and beach homes to exotic villas, resorts, and yachts around the world. As we experience and support diverse cultures, we hope to inspire more families to design a life of freedom and adventure.
    Because there’s a new American Dream. It’s one that’s void of templated expectations, templated career paths, templated education, templated families, templated homes, and templated lives. Freedom is no longer an American tagline-it’s just the new, global way of life.
    Every day that you spend doing something that doesn’t fulfill you to your core, you’re living your life on pause. You’re deferring genuine family time with no guarantee that there will be a tomorrow or a someday. Some people follow that mentality their entire lives. We’ve chosen to never live that way again.
    We appreciate you following our journey. The more our channel grows, the more time we can spend traveling to more locations, contributing to these cultures, highlighting local businesses, and sharing inspiring stories from these communities. So please consider liking, commenting, and subscribing so that you can stick with us for the long haul.

    Pleased to find this in your back-catalogue. I had a happy two years in Coronado Cays and am ashamed to admit that all of these places were new to me. Most memorable meals? Lunch at Peohes, dinner at George's at La Jolla, and brunch at the Hotel Del Coronado.

      It’s been years since we’ve had brunch at the hotel Del. We loved doing that for special occasions but it just hasn’t occurred to us since the pandemic. I haven’t even checked to see if they started that back up again. I’m sure they have.

    Oh!! There’s a new restaurant on the island called The Islander. It’s next to The Henry. I’m in San Diego! Mission Hills, to be exact. I’m a realtor in Point Loma. I’m a native San Diegan, holler if you ever want to relocate.. I know real estate && FOOD all over SoCal 😊. Can’t wait for your Bohol upload. Safe travels!

    • @AlwaysBeChanging
      @AlwaysBeChanging  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! The Islander was one of our favorites back in the day so we were so excited when Blue Bridge decided to open it back up in the Leroy’s spot. It’s a great beach concept and will do very well ❤️ Let’s grab a drink there soon!

      @@AlwaysBeChanging oh wow.. glad they brought it back! Yes, Let’s! And you know what else is up & coming is Oceanside for dining, among other things. I know, kinda mind blowing, but it’s like how IB got a multi-mil facelift. There’s a Michelin star chef at one of the restaurants in the hotels on the pier. I mean, personally, I think that they’re just giving away Michelins, but I believe this guy chef to be 👌

    Wow... San Diego looks like a food paradise, complete with great weather and beach. Ceviche is a fav food of mine, and the Greeks know how to make great food.... surfer approved burritos? Hello! Thanks for sharing.

      @@AlwaysBeChanging Yes Greece would be amazing to visit, the closest I got was a Turkish beach haha, but many Greek restaurants in Canada, always a favorite option. Never been to SD, but definitely on bucket list too.

    I’m from San Diego and with Hispanic background change the part that your wife said about cheddar being traditional Mexican food , it’s not it’s gross 🤮 cheddar is not part of all or any Hispanic food
