As a trucker and a traveler, I’m here to tell you San Diego is hands down the best city for food on the planet for any type of food. But a lot of ppl don’t know where all the good spots are. Like I saw in another comment Luche Libre ain’t a top 30 in the city but prob top 10 in the rest the country 😂
I respectfully disagree. Los Angeles would be the winner. They have a more diverse population than San Diego, although San Diego's food scene is improving. SD has a lot of good food spots, but it pales in comparison to LA. Chinese food in SD is still really bad for the most part after all these years.
@@warblade044 As much as I dislike the getting to and getting around LA...I agree. First time viewer, but excellent choices. I'd like to try them all. But Im here to talk about Tortillas de Harina or Flour Tortillas. They're made of 4-5 ingredients: wheat flour, water, vegetable lard/oil and salt, some use baking powder too. So, I grew up in Mexicali, Baja Mexico. My mom made flour tortillas every night. She said the flour (how it's made) is the key ingredient. Flour made in the US is not made the same way as in Mexico. Costco sells uncooked flour tortillas called FRESCA, they are to die for. Thanks 👍🏽
I've eaten at 11 of these restaurants, and Jeremy Jacobowitz's assessment of those 11 eateries is perfectly right on. Use Jeremy as your restaurant guide, and you won't go wrong!

Great list! Next time you come out try Bahn Thai, royal mandarin, or animae if you happen to have a craving for Thai, Chinese or fancy Filipino fusion food. And then check out some old town Mexican restaurants
More so because a real flour tortilla needs to be made with lard and not chemicals and a real corn tortilla is made with natural maize kernerls turned into masa harina, kosher salt and some use a lye process.
As a SD resident for 20+ years you nailed it. Nice job. I'd say you missed out on some dinner spots in general, but gives you a good reason to come back. As a San Diegan local, the one thing I recommend if you like Italian is Filippis Pizza Grotto. And to authenticate this choice, my dad is from New York and he's 100% Italian. Its our favorite Italian here in San Diego and I wish we could eat here more than we already do.
Great work! Some suggestions: Old Town Mexican Cafe- Old Town (crispy carnitas with corn tortillas made to order). Bull's Smokin' BBQ- Bay Park (Beef rib, Cole slaw with candied almonds). Sandbar- Mission Beach (Juan's Street Taco: crispy pork adovada, roasted pineapple, onions, cilantro, jalapeño crema). Neighborhood- East Village/PetCo Park (Hood Burger- double smash patties, smoked gruyere, blue cheese, bacon onion jam, fries, with a side of the best special sauce you've ever had)

Not a huge fan of Lucha Libre. You did miss a couple places. Tacos Asadero in Rancho Bernardo and TJ Tacos in Escondido are Tacos El Gordo offshoots that are just as good if not better. TJ Tacos adobada is better in that it is less sweet and has a nice kick to it in terms of heat. There is also Smokin J's in Poway that has really awesome barbecue. Their brisket is really good.
Strange. Really focused on Asian and we are far more Hispanic or Italian/ Greek here and all the real home spots other than Tacos de Gordo are not where regular folks eat you went full tourist and not on the things we would go for. Maybe get a local San Diego restaurant owner like the Bussalacci's.

Rubbish. The best restaurant in SD is Adrian's surf and turf on Clairemont Mesa blvd. bar none go straight to Adrian's. How could a professional food blogger not be aware of this place?
Why don't you try smaller bite portions. The quantity you shove in your mouth in one bite borders on disgusting. At Herb & Wood you ate an entire carrot whole.
Whatever. Your obviously leaving out good restaurants because they belong to certain communities. Do you go beyond Japanese, Italian, Mexican and a select few...
An experienced food vlogger would be prepared for cash only businesses. Even though Tacos El Gordo isn't, many of the best places are. Rookie mistake. Also you have to have cash when you travel for tipping in various scenarios. Again, rookie mistake.
San Diego sucks ......the food second rate ........every restaurant can`t get people to work .........taco shops are gringo`d out ! .........tacos el gordo ok but way too pricey .........everythings like Mc donalds .....it sucks !!!!
Yelp and redit did you dirty. You caught all the trending places with a better alternative that locals prefer. Also, you don’t get burritos at cuatro, you get their bowl of chorizo and a stack of tortillas.

Their brisket is really good.
appreciate it!!
Sonnyboy Biscuits taste like you put a whole stick of butter in your mouth.
as it should! lol
@BrunchBoys too much for me
Chicken Pie Shop
1. Chicken Pie Shop
2. Carnitas Uruapan
3. Michelines Pita House
4. Tip Top Meats (located in
Carlsbad, though)
thanks!!
Tip top is the bomb! Old school diner vibes. Also, everything north of the bay is also San Diego including Carlsbad lol.
Strange. Really focused on Asian and we are far more Hispanic or Italian/ Greek here and all the real home spots other than Tacos de Gordo are not where regular folks eat you went full tourist and not on the things we would go for. Maybe get a local San Diego restaurant owner like the Bussalacci's.
You made it sound that the only restaurants in San Diego are mostly Mexican restaurants.
did you watch the video? but yeah, if you go to SD, def take advantage of being so close to mexico
@@BrunchBoys Man...how do you (and every/all content creators) deal with all the negative stupid comments throughout ? I live in SD and lived all over the world, and enjoyed the video. I read these comments and am reminded of how so many in this world are broken and deeply unhappy. LOL It's sad but also cracks me up geeshsh. Thanks for the great vid man.
How about next time you do a review you wear a Padres cap instead of a Yankees cap 😒
He must haved
listen he has a SD hat on later
No Italian? Little Italy? Hello?
I live in NYC. I don't need Italian in San Diego lol
Seriously, if you think the light-green sauce at Oscars is spicy, please do yourself a favor and do not go to Thailand.
Not into BBQ huh?
neither is San Diego. Except for Abbys and Coops, there is not a good BBQ selection here.
@@malcorub
He's not into Italian too despite San Diego having a little Italy.
Started the vid with soggy fries. Delete vid. Sorry its way my TH-cam is set up 🤣
Rubbish. The best restaurant in SD is Adrian's surf and turf on Clairemont Mesa blvd. bar none go straight to Adrian's. How could a professional food blogger not be aware of this place?
Best mexican in san diego is los tacos in encinitas by far if you have not been your missing out
Why are you out here lying to people. 😂😂😂😂
There IS no food here. If you’re visiting, bring sandwiches.
@@Msfifisquarepantz you made this comment on a video where I'm showing you 17 spots. you know that right?
💋❤️🙏✝️💯
Lucha libre...lol... you took this list from somewhere else that also didn't know where to eat.
Gotta watch again and take notes ! 🤤 - 26:00 lucha libre..... There was a fly on the taco..... 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Won't be going there.
Please stop saying God's name in vain. Makes it hard to get through your video.
Why don't you try smaller bite portions. The quantity you shove in your mouth in one bite borders on disgusting. At Herb & Wood you ate an entire carrot whole.
@@tomlarge3065 or I can just enjoy what I do
Whatever. Your obviously leaving out good restaurants because they belong to certain communities. Do you go beyond Japanese, Italian, Mexican and a select few...
dont be stupid
Tacos El Gordo is like Taco Bell on Covid menu ! Tacos el gordo suck!
no
San Diego is not a city for food. It's low on the list compared to other cities.
An experienced food vlogger would be prepared for cash only businesses. Even though Tacos El Gordo isn't, many of the best places are. Rookie mistake. Also you have to have cash when you travel for tipping in various scenarios. Again, rookie mistake.
I look up every restaurant I need cash for before I go. it's 2024. maybe 1% don't accept cards. thanks though...
@@BrunchBoysall good bro you did a great job. Really great video. Cheers from cali.
@@nicolina3330 🙏🏼🙏🏼
San Diego sucks ......the food second rate ........every restaurant can`t get people to work .........taco shops are gringo`d out ! .........tacos el gordo ok but way too pricey .........everythings like Mc donalds .....it sucks !!!!
Tacos el gordo used to be more affordable, but then it got trendy. Same with all of them.
L take
Yelp and redit did you dirty. You caught all the trending places with a better alternative that locals prefer. Also, you don’t get burritos at cuatro, you get their bowl of chorizo and a stack of tortillas.
i dont use yelp or reddit. thanks
