I’m totally not a Rolex fan, hate the bling of it. Quite frankly, I was kinda glad I didn’t like the brand because it saved my bank account. Then this damn watch came out….and I bought one. Darn it, man! Rolex got me….
That was great! A nice casual watch-chat, all focus on the watches (amazing how some channels show the speakers for 90% of airtime, with only 10% left for the watches), with nice, brief snippets of snacks and cocktails, all in the lovely background atmosphere of a good restaurant. Loved it.
Agreed. The AR treatment is the real star in which no one notices until you say it. The dial is so much more legible and you can see the colors much more vibrantly
Congrats 🍾 Simon! What a great feeling getting your first Rolex at the AD-mine was the Explorer 39mm mark II. I enjoyed the conversation, best regards 👍.
I want one but still need to try one out in person. The case redesign is perfect. It looks like an Explorer II case in a 40mm size. Now the 5 minute numerals are better proportioned and the dial is easy to read. It just makes more sense for a watch that you use every 10/15/35/55 minutes to track time within an hour. The bracelet lug width looks like it’s size increased to 21mm
This is an excellent video with two chaps having a great conversation about the Rolex AirKing. I prefer the 116900, because I was able to get one retail from Rolex a couple years ago.
Zut alors! First you motivated me to buy the Tudor BB58-- still love it! Next the new Explorer 36; and now, the Air King! I contacted my AD today, and put it on the list!
Just put one on the wrist at Desitter in Liège and I must say that I love the 2022 version. Any advice on how to get on that list? Congrats to Simon for his first Rolex!
Very quirky watch Uptick and congratulations to Simon on the addition to his collection. I’d consider this watch if I can find one at retail. With all the problems in Shanghai now I think that could happen. Cheers 🥂
I like it, but the dial is confusing when telling time at a glance. You had it at 4:15. Looking at the dial you first see 20 for hours and 3 for minutes. So now I have to convert 20 to 4 hours and 3 to 15 for minutes. The case and watch are awesome. If they released this in a 40mm explorer 1 dial this would be a must have.
I will pick up my Airking 126900 on Saturday which is by the way my first Rolex:) I think it won't be replacing my Black Bay 58 blue as a daily watch, but I will definitely be using it!
I absolutely love this Air-King...I know I seem kinda late to the party commenting on it almost midway through 2024 but I think it looks really good. It looks more interesting than the Explorer and even Submariner. It's such a great and unique design I really love it!
Never too late, every day we get turned on to a watch that might be recent or old, tastes evolve and what's the rush to have them all right away, right? Rolex of all years are watches meant to be kept for a lifetime
The new one is far better refined than the previous generation, it wears brilliantly. It's a shame my own 126900 had issues screwing the crown in (got stuck halfway quite a lot of the time) and is currently being looked at by RSC.
Hi Pete, that's a very common issue and you kinda have to live with it. You screw anti-clockwise a bit until it clicks in the thread then screw clockwise. Same on my Explorer and my wife's Datejust.
@@UptickWatchReviews Hey there - interesting. When I took it to RSC they said they haven't come across it before and insisted they replace the crown and tube! When searching around most didn't experience this and hence I thought I would get it checked sooner rather than later as I was worried about crossthreading and water resistance...we'll see in a couple week's time! It's worth noting my other watches all with screw down crowns didn't experience this either 🤷♂️
I have both 116900 and 126900. I prefer them over my Submariner which I have just sold as I found it boring and to many people having fakes put me of the watch.
The changes to Air King certainty makes this model a total different mutant. Rolex has certainly make the 2022 Air-King as a collection. Get it while you still can.
Great, great watch. I too didn't care for the previous version: the dial was a bit of a mess (lack of symmetry, polished 3-6-9 that disappear in the dial at some angles), it was too thick due to the faraday cage, and the 40mm case vs 20mm lug width was slightly out of proportion. This, I got to try the display model at an AD, and it basically addresses all these points. It wears very well. Of the entire current Rolex catalogue, this is the one I'd go for if available at retail (one can dream). Well done Simon.

😅
Same
Exactly what happened to me. I’m awaiting a call from my AD now 😂

Anti reflective treatment to the crystal has made a big difference. Also increasing the width of the bracelet to 21 mm is what makes it feel wider.

Great video boy's and congrats Simon! Just got the call from my AD, and could not be happier! Great piece to add to the collection 🙂
I own the latest version and it wears so well, the quirkiness of the dial grows on you. My eyes never get tired of looking at this watch
I saw it at my AD this week. I felt instantly in love with it. It is so special and such a comfortable watch to wear.
Congrats 🍾 Simon! What a great feeling getting your first Rolex at the AD-mine was the Explorer 39mm mark II. I enjoyed the conversation, best regards 👍.
Thanks! Great feeling indeed, I wouldn't have done it otherwise.

Awesome job with your display of watches. Now I have to get my hands on the Air King.
I‘m on the list for one. I like everything about it, especially that it doesn’t look like a typical Rolex.
Portishead playing in the background. 🤙🏻

Simons Air King looks amazing , as does your Zenith. Great chat.
Thanks Paul!
As a pilot and lover of the khruangbin sound. I dig this video ! And Will be getting this watch !

Thanks Jeffrey! Hope you'll find yours at retail in your neck of the woods. Cheers!
Great review between two friends 👏

At last Rolex has a flieger.
And its the Air King, how appropriate.
If you're an Aussie it's got the National green and gold colors of the Wattle tree.
It seems too busy too crowded but when you start to read the dial it's not.
Superbe vidéo. Félicitations, Simon. La montre est… awesome 😄🤙
Merci merci!

First you see my watch without me and now The Aubrey? If you're trying to make me jealous, it's working
I think I'd get it if given the opportunity...
is the fluted everose Wimbledon on jubilee high in demand, are they still hot or should I sell rn???

Beardsley print at 10:18……..if original, it’s quite valuable.
Hmmm .. I prefer the case, and the dial for the 116900.
Nice...
I would ask my AD to make it happen me taking look on new Air King vs 2023 Explorer 40… Dont know which one i would love to get, cant choose…
What restaurant where you in? Looks delicious.
Great little watch for a daily to stay under the radar.👌
I prefer the classic model.
Wow just watched 10 ads for this video… great side by side comparison and very informative nevertheless
Un bonjour du Québec!
Allo cher compatriote!
I like it for retail…😊
Is that the Submariner case??
Solid advice regarding the wife!

Merci Johnny! I'm indeed very happy with it. All these little changes make it so much more balanced.
The original one was a absolute dog but the new one is a big improvement.
If it was under 5 grand then it would be worth it. Crowded dial all your paying for the the name rolex.
Non non, it’s a shitter, common it’s so friggin busy. Guys find any reason to like a sport
Congratulations Simon. A great watch and an improvement on the original.
Thanks Mark!
