The two-tone fluted bezel 36mm Datejust is the icon. CEOs, stockbrokers, mob bosses, it just communicates the message so well.

Love the Rolex two tone Datejust with the champagne dial on a jubilee bracelet. It’s a timepiece that makes you feel like you made it. Classic watch.
The only logical sequel to this is a 4 hour ranking of the current Omega catalogue
Whilst the title serves as great click bait, and tastes are subjective (we’d all rank some of these slightly differently), I do like the considered opinion and clarity on the mental model used to drive the choices and ranking shared here. Look forward to part 2.

as a kid the bi-metal datejust 36 w fluted bezel was always what came to mind when i heard the word 'Rolex' and still is to this day. Got the 116233 and plan to keep it forever.

The two tone Explorer is actually a lot better in person than I was expecting. Reckon there won't be many sold and those that are worn daily will look great when they're banged up and the gold is dulled.
I just cannot see how its an explorers/mountaineers' watch anymore, it has nothing to do with its original message. The explorer 2 is actually the last all brushed, zero bling proper tool watch.
@@Csibu89 the Explorer has never realistically been a mountaineering watch, it’s always been marketing schtick. It’s a solid enough “tool watch”, as are all Rolex watches. At the end of the day Rolex is not high horology, even the precious metal versions are still sports/tool watches. If your budget allows for you to wear a steel and gold Explorer to go travelling in, etc., and it’s to your taste, then why not? Wouldn’t be my choice personally, but I have tried it on in person and it’s not as gaudy as you’d expect. If someone in a hot climate had one and wore it as a daily, bashing it about, getting sun on the lacquer dial, I bet it’ll look great in time.

we all know the DJ36 with fluted motif dials deserve to be rated here. and For sure it's an S. the fluted-motif dials are absolutely killer, especially the blue.

Just picked up my 2023 JC deep sea this past December and I absolutely love it and believe it or not it took a little over a month to get at a local Rolex AD (it’s my first Rolex ever too). It’s my favorite for sure because I can wear it without it looking gigantic. Big fan of the dial and how it’s built like a tank not to mention the story behind it. Lastly big fan of yalls channel keep making great content.

I think because the Skydweller has the traveler gmt function it’s ok they made it in steel where has the Daydate with the prestigious president bracelet there isn’t a need for steel

Idea for a next video: what each Rolex model should/could be vs what they are. I think the Submariner should have a less blingy, brushed bezel, and it should be all brushed titanium. It should be a tool watch. The yachtmaster 40 is there for all those looking for bling.
The Milgauss needs to be rereleased as an all titanium amegnetic scientists'/engineers' watch, and it needs to be the most anti magnetic mechanical watch out there.
The Explorer should not be two tone, otherwise it stayed true to what it was made for, both explorer 1 and especially explorer 2. Daytona& daydate&datejust are exactly what they should be imo.
All in all, pretty fair ratings I’d say. Makes sense.
Putting the Skydweller and the Yachmaster 2 in the same category is insane. Skydweller is at worst B tier.
Probably will never happen but if that James Cameron came out in a 40mm or 41 same sizing as a sub or GMT, it would be an absolute hit! That dial is incredible, the green writing at the bottom, it’s a shame it’s so big.

I don’t get the hate for the Milgauss. It has an old school faraday cage just like a vintage watch and green tinted glass that is hard to manufacture. Modernising this watch which will happen eventually will make people want the old one more.
