Absolutely 100% the Aston. I totally respect the 911, but looks and sounds control the heart and emotions. 911's pass me every day and I barely notice. The Vantage is a true neck snapper.

That might just be the strength of the 911. Constant attention get boring, even more the near impossible parking of these 'supercars' due to chance of vandalism really wears you out.
Maintenance-wise Porsche will be a lot cheaper too.

I was a diehard 911 owner for almost 40 years', “Not No More!” All the performances of 911s plus outrageous comfort and aesthetics. Unique curb appeal, I see dozens of Porsches every day, very rarely Aston Martins, let alone Vantage/AMGs. I love mine!

Aston every time for me. Owned and driven many earlier '70/80s 911s but always wanted a Vantage for the drop deal gorgeous looks, sound, handling. Have an early 4.3 and now drive a 2010 V12 manual. This new generation looks and sounds fabulous, body shape very influenced by the original 2006 V8. Love the arches, stance, interior... just brilliant, A great achievement!

  • @BrunoDeMarques

The best description of a 911 Turbo I have ever saw goes more or less like this:
“So you’re driving a brand new 911 Turbo you’ve just bought. It’s fast. It’s crazy fast! Your confidence strengthens. In it, you feel you’re the best driver in the world. The straights are short. A turn. It’s tight. Tighter than you first though. And you entered it at an insane speed. “Damn!”… sweating, trembling voice “God! I’m not going to make it!”
This is the time when YOU NEED TO BELIEVE that the car, for which you paid a small fortune, will be able to save you from a situation your overblown ego has gotten you into.
    You… you barely make it!
Hands sweating on the steering wheel”
    “YEAHHHH!”
    That’s Porsche.

@@125ctg ive got a 911 991.2 GTS (ridiculous gibberish I know) but in a very nice colour and with a go fast stripe. Ive never had so many compliments, thumbs up, wanna race etc. Turbo S is maybe more of a wolf in sheepskin, GTS may look a bit more aggressive but doesn't have the grunt. An AM does exude supercar, its defines class. Now that AM has added performance I have been tempted to get one, but cannot justify price vs bang for your buck.
Love the new Vantage even over its big brother the Vanquish, but consider this when you want to buy one.
      1. Do you like going on drive outs with other cars? Well few own a AM more own a Porsche
      2. Does the price and service reflect true value? Porsche is proven AM is trying to prove
      3. Do you like getting compliments about your car? AM Vantage I think would get it, certainly over a Turbo S
So all in all it depends on your finances, your goals and your ego (its why we buy expensive cars no?)

Aston Martin Vantage day every day. I've always been an Aston Martin fan and loved the way they did things from the 80's V8/Vantage onwards. But they were always compromised.....always gorgeous to look at, but the dynamics were often wanting. No more. It's so refreshing to know that those compromises are minimal now. Aston Martin are now equal to the big boys in terms of looks, handling, performance, technology. And I honestly don't think they need a more focussed Vantage model. This seems to have a breadth of abilities that seems to imply if they make it more track focussed, it may compromise the every day usability. Honestly, this seems to cover all bases brilliantly at the moment. Now, about that 824hp V12 Vanquish that's coming........

There are so many 911's on the road today, I see them almost daily. This is testament the the lineage of the brand and the 911 but also for me, it detracts from the exclusivity as its often difficult to tell one 911 from another. So while one maybe the Targa, the other a turbo with a huge price differential, the average punter walking/driving by will just see a Porsche. Hence, for me, the Vantage now has the tech and the engine to hold its own on all fronts with the looks and it will always be more exclusive and for me the Aston brand is easily up there with Porsche. Winner.

As someone who's owned both a Turbo and the latest Vantage, this new Vantage is so much more appealing than a 911 turbo s. when i test drove the 992 turbo s, it just felt too soft/old man (loved the sharp steering tho). I still believe the 911 is one of the best dailies/only car on the market but as something to make you feel special on the weekend, the AM is way ahead for me. Looks and sounds better, RWD, more visceral experience, and probably feels just as fast.

The rear boot shelf used to fall off over bumps or when you shut the boot, the breaks would squeal pretty much all the time and the sat nav was from a ten year old Mercedes so let’s hope this one does a better job than that of the previous / current one.

With the updates I would definitely choose the Aston. The dash, headlights, and hood finally all look right for the model. Loved it before, but the tweaks really set it apart for me.

Great video. I love your enthusiasm despite the fact you're in and out of dream cars daily. But what is the point of the Vantage? It looks similar to and has similar power to the DB12.

Aston is something very special and I think that when you lean toward luxury (and sound) it would be the pick against the 911 Turbo S. However, at the very end of the excellent review of the “Aston AMG” came the answer to the question we all were thinking…is not as fast as a Turbo S! 😉

I don’t know if I’m the only crazy person here, but the front … I just think that the previous one looks better, after that everything in this car is amazing

Who the heck wants a 911 over this? New Vantage is one of the best looking cars ever made and the performance is now elite.

I just wonder about the reliability and sturdiness of the Aston, as much as I love the looks and performance. I’ve been with the 911 for 9 years and it has been really good there

I’ve driven a couple of 911’s one being a GTS at the Porsche experience centre and they are amazing to drive full on, I ache to own one, but on flip side that makes them a bit two a penny as they are so popular, the Aston is a Saville Row suit, a gorgeous looking machine inside and out and it would be my choice given how close they are dynamically

This video is great. Nice work. It may be just me but I always get tired of a modern Aston Martin’s styling. They are beautiful to look at at first for sure, but over a bit of time, the attraction wears out. They just look to me a bit contrived and a little pretentious. But it does sound like they made serious efforts to put together a proper contender and I am seriously thinking of one (DB12V) but I am going to sit on it for a bit to see if the styling continues to excite this time.

I would most definitely take this over any 911. The looks are by far more sexy. It’s faster. Only rear wheel drive. It’s powerful. Sounds better. I just see this as better. For the money. The Porsche is always a soulless machine to me. Plus give me a turbo v8 over a flat six any day

I’d probably get a 997.1 with a manual gear box. It doesn’t matter what the spec is because anything over 400hp takes a skill to drive that I don’t have. That Aston is absolutely beautiful however.

The back end of this car is absolutely gorgeous. However, the sound of the engine/exhaust is very muted or doesn’t come through the audio that well, and why didn’t AM choose to go with a DCT transmission?
