I must say, the 1000+ yard shoot truly amaze me! The first time I tried 1000, I shot 60rds, with 60 misses. Was all me, I didn't understand my ballistics Calc, which was giving me clicks instead of moa (that's what my scope is). Got a different one a few days later, put the info in, was using factory ammo, in a 22mph cross wind going west north west, first round hit! About 2in low and about an in left of dead center! I got so excited that I missed the next 19 rounds because the wind died down to about 10 mph and I didn't notice from the excitement! I was using a factory savage 12 LRP that I put a MDT ESS chassis on. It's not that great of a story, but it made me happy and that's all that matters!

Shot out to 1000 over Labor Day weekend for the first time since I left the army in 08’. Took 8 or 9 rounds to get the rifle dialed in. You forget how much the wind pushes the bullet when you don’t shoot that far for a while. Everyone is going to laugh me out of here but I like a .30-06. I can hunt about anything with it and it does really well out to 1100 yards. Love the reloading videos.
My 45 year old Savage 30-06 is my favorite rifle. It's good right now to about 400 yards tops for hunting. I had it set up to 800 yards but it just kicked too much and the scope was too high so I switched it back.
I wanted a heavy barreled 06 and couldn’t find one so I run the Christensen arms ridgeline in 06. Shoots 1/2” to 3/4” groups consistently. I’m not a competitive shooter just enjoy long range shooting and hunting.
I know this is for PRS not f class but I’m glad to see you can be happy with .5-.75 moa groups. Some times I get frustrated when I’m not going under half so this made me feel better
What is the muzzle velocity of your Lupua? What are the coordinates to the location you are shooting from? At the equator Earth is spinning counter clockwise at around 1039 MPH, so at the *45 Lat. the rotation is around 520 MPH which is equivalent 750 fps. Let us say all the following scenario targets are placed at 1000 yrds. Can you shoot to the north, impact the target then shoot south and impact the target without much windage adjustment? I ask because when you shoot north the Earth's rotation is coming from right to left but when you shoot south the rotation is from left to right. Can you shoot to the east, make impact then shoot west, make impact with out a whole lot of elevation adjustment? I ask because shooting east the Earth's rotation is coming towards you, when you shoot west the earths rotation is going away. What about diagonal directions NW, SE, then NE,SW, how much windage and elevation adjustment do you make? I ask as these diagonal directions NW, SE and then NW,SE are completely opposite. One last question, What formula do you use to figure in for the coriolis effect? Just a lot of critical thinking here. BTW them were some awesome groups. thank you for the uploads and in advance thank you for answering my book of questions. be well my friend.
Your comment about barrel temp makes me wonder how high a temp I can hit before the precision suffers. 300 degrees? 400? Too hot to hand hold is nothing for metal, 120 or so. Has Brux done any testing?
These things are very complicated and no laughing matter. You need a precision, thermo gauge and 14oz of avocado cooking oil since it's smoke point is 500f. Pour the oil down the chamber, if it smokes, it's too hot. Go post 2000 more posts at snipershide, then check again. Listen, it's very difficult to figure these things out so take your time. It's required to only shoot once every 2 years, but your post count at snipers hide must be over 5000.
Thank you again Eric, I was wondering if you could make a video on how to correct wind with math calculations, without using today computer technology. I mean by just using a calulator, a pen and piece of paper... Merci...👍
Erik , I am looking into building a 284 Shehan , I’ve shot bench rest most of my life, looking to go into F Class our to 1000. Question: What gunsmith should you recommend. Price is not an issue. Secondly what stock do you have on your? What stock would you recommend?
Erik, I love your content. I started watching you and subscribed when you and Demo had the pistol match. Do you ever do the 2 mile shoots? Thank you for all of the explanations of things for those of us who don’t reload but are interested in it.
Thank you Erik for sharing your knowledge with us. I was a little surprised in your screenshot of the scope reticle that your holding point for elevation was above the center crosshair and not below when at 1000+ yards. Is this related to your zero? I was expecting to see the center cross hair in the reticle to be higher than the target for the increased distance.
What’s the weight on your rifle? Recoil management looks spot on. That heavy MPA rig looks really tame with a 6x47 lapua, with an effective muzzle brake.
Do you prefer single or two stage triggers and moa or mils what your go it I torn between single and twin stage fclass and prs or singles but hunting are 2 stage and it’s alway moa either ffp or sfp
Quick question? Does the jam minus 20 thousands trick work on all freedom delivery devices and freedom seads or is it Berger specific? Great shooting btw!!!
How do you account for statistical randomness? If you flip a coin 10 times, you might get heads 8 times and tails 2 times - a random statistical anomaly. Of course, over 1,000 coin flips it should even out to 50/50. So, in load development, if you have 10 different loads of three rounds each, when you shoot them how do you assure yourself that a given 3-round group accurately reflects the load's accuracy - as opposed to a random result? The differences between the best and second and third and fourth best can be so minor that it could be statistical randomness, and if you were to repeat the experiment, number 3 might become number 1, and so on. And, then, you'd have to repeat the experiment yet again ... and then again.
Nice work Sir. I like your elbow pad, at first I thought it might have been made from a Crown Royal bag,,,If I may ask, where'd you get it? Nothing I hate worse than wearing a hole on the inside of my elbow when I spend a day behind the rifle.
