- I thought I make this video to answer a number of questions on how to change the ice maker settings on the Samsung Fridge. The one I have in particular with the French door model that was purchased in 2019.
In order to change any of the ice makers, you'll need to unlock the panel first. The panel is designed to be child-proof so the kid wouldn't be able to change the temperature and spoil the food in the fridge.
In this video, I'll show how easy it is to unlock the panel and change the Ice Maker settings.

Thank you! I just bought a Samsung fridge with an ice maker, internal, no dispenser on the outside of the door. They didn't install the water line but the ice maker was still on and I thought it might cause damage to fridge or the ice maker itself, and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Thank you for this video. We just purchase a new Samsung 28 cu. ft. Smart Side-by-Side Refrigerator in Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel and we could not get the control panel to work. We had no idea we had to unlock the panel. My wife says thank you.

My side by side refrigerator is new. I try to put the icemaker on OFF since there is enough ice but it won't do it. I followed exactly what you did in the video. I don't have a dispenser on the door. When the icemaker is on there is a constant little noise. What should I do.

I have this fridge and the Ice maker seems to work but water isnt dispensed into it to actually have ice. If I put ice in the bucket it will dispense it but not create new ice. the water feature works as well but water doesnt pour into the ice tray for some reason
I'm not an expert on repairs. My guess is maybe the line is clogged and needs a defrost or the unit is bad.

I have the same fridge like yours but I don’t why my ice maker come out crushed iced now even on the cubed ice mold.
Probably the temperature setup is too low. This may cause this.
How do I stop bottom tray from making ice but I still want to be able to get ice from cup on outside of fridge

After you first got your refrigerator how long did it take for it to start dispensing ice ?
It takes time at least 8 hours as I'm told. Always, make sure the water line is connected tight to the back of fridge and the spigot is turned ON. Check if the ice maker function is ON, let it run over night.

What about the settings on interior panel water/ice…i see your icon furthest left is illuminated. What are the other three for (cup with 2 cubes, cup with 3 cubes, and then the lock icon?
From left to right is water, cubed ice, crushed ice and lock.

Kenmore fridge has a choice of O or - symbols on icemaker, which is off and on? No wire arm involved.
I don't have a Kenmore but I googled the answer. 0 = off and 1=numbers (temperature) dial indicate refrigerant power. The higher the number goes the colder the fridge will maintain. Setting it to 5 will make your fridge the coldest.
Can you tell me how to defost the ice maker ?

There's a latch under the ice maker door for this model, you'll need to unlatch on the bottom to remove. If it's stuck, you'll need to unplug fridge to defrost before it.

What is the symbol next to 0 degrees on the Freezer. Mine has the same symbol on. I am worried I may have to reset something.
Also, can you please do a video on Force Defrost. After 3 years my icemaker is jamming up with ice. I read online to do Force Defrost. Thank you. Your videos are very helpful.
You mean the symbol with the lightening bolt with a null on it? That's the peak demand off, leave it lit on so it won't turn off to save freezer energy but spoil the food. I'll research the force defrost. I never had to defrost. Thanks.
@@netman88 Thank you. My fridge is exactly 3 years old. Ice tray is jammed. I talked to Samsung. Out of warranty. They advised to unplug for 24 hours. And, they recommend it unplugged for 24 hours once a year to let the appliance “breathe”. I have never had this issues of owning different refrigerators over 50 years.
There is a class action lawsuit for the ice maker issue. Apparently, most common issue.

Does this apply to a refrigerator with this on the front of door above the dispenser? I've tried holding it for three seconds (ice off) and it won't go back on.
Depends, did it say 3 secs on the others.

This was helpful. When I tried to turn off the ice maker by holding down the button, it does not cycle to turn off. Seems like I can make selections on the water/ice cycle but I can't turn off
the ice maker. I think it's frozen because no ice is dispensing and I can't remove the cover to the ice maker. Suggestions?
Probably need to unplug the fridge for it to un-frozen it.

I have a Samsung RF27T5241 & the ice maker in the freezer stopped working. I have replaced the filter & made sure it was at 0°. Still no ice. What else should I do?

Did you check if the water line is bent or not? Check Ice tray in freezer also? How's the water flow?

I have the same exact fridge but my problem is with the selector on the outside of the door. The selected setting (water, ice, crushed ice) would light up when pressed. That stopped working and I can’t select between the 3 anymore. Any idea on how to fix this?
I’m not an expert on this but maybe try to unplug the fridge and plug back in 10 mins to see if it works. There maybe a hard reset but I don’t know how to do that on this model.
i'm having your same issue with the exact same model. I already tried unplugging and plugging back the fridge but it didnt work. The only way to change it from water to ice cubes or crushed cubes is from the inside panel. Damn fridge is not even 6 months old. Ridiculous.
I changed the filter and pressed the filter reset and everything worked again. Not sure why but it’s been working without issues.
@@josels1292 Oh wow. Now that i think about it, this issue occured a day after the filter red light appeared inside the panel and I haven't changed it yet. Thanks a bunch for the quick reply. I'm assuming it's safe to say that changing the filter fixes this issue.
@@ToonyBe Yes it should. Just make sure you reset it. Maybe you could remove and install the same filter now and reset. It should work. If it does just remember to order a new filter and replace it when you get it.
I have a refrigerator just like this. My ice maker is working making ice, deepening water. ... however the fan is running continuously and then stops when I open up the refrigerator door. We have replaced the filter...unplugged the refrigerator and then defrosted it. Do you have any idea as to what this could be?

How do I turn off the Rapid Ice Maker. I don't want to turn off my ice, just stop making it so quickly. It gets too full then I can't get any ice out of it unless I empty the tray to half.

For this model in the video, I don't think there's a feature for turning off that.
Thanks for your videos. We have Model RF27T5201SR and believe it or not there is NO light in the water dispenser! So if you're thinking about buying a Samsung refrigerator, get one with a light!

i recently turned on my ice maker and connected a water source after 1 year. it's only made 1 batch of ice. it's set to -3 degrees. shouldn't it be making more ice than one batch in the past 24 hours?
Yes, check if there's a bend on the water line.
Turning on the water auto fill dispenser container is a little finicky
How often should I clean/remove the ice bucket? I have the countertop model of the refrigerator in your video & it will be 12 months old in July. We have great water quality & only 2 adults using the fridge. Thank you for your very informative videos by the way!

If the icemaker is off,will it stop producing ice also, climate is cold now so we dont use any ice,and I am afraid it will overflow the container
It shouldn’t over the container, it should trigger a stop if full
