- In this video I will be talking about why some players tend to lose their balance in the finish position and why it is so difficult for some players to feel stable.
There will be a detailed explanation as to WHY this happens, what you may need to FEEL in order to correct this issue and WHAT drills you can practice to get you feeling the correct position.

Perfect explanation, improved my balance a lot
you are an amazing golf coach ..... wish you were up in Vancouver bc area .... lol
You’re the best teaching coach I’ve seen
Underrated. Have not watched a video that disappointed. Thanks
Man you make everything look so easy. Perfect presentation, clear easy to follow explanation,
This is the best balance video on You tube thanks for this. I was a talented junior, high school and college golfer in the 1980's, played on ocasion in the adult years. But today I went to the range for the first time in about 15 yrs, and I was having issues falling forward at impact out of balance. Never had this problem before, but I am out of shape, need to work on flexibilty and cardio. I like the drills, gonna give it a try AND keep that head still during the backswing..
This is the first time I have ever added a comment to a video. As my handicap index increased from 1 in 2009 to 8.5 in 2020, I made a decision at that time to take 15 lessons over a six month period at a Golftec facility. These same concepts and positions were taught but not explained nearly as well and as a result I struggled to successfully apply them. Jonathan is the real deal and teaches the proper swing with easy to understand visuals and words. I have a much better understanding now of what was taught and have renewed excitement to apply these principles. Thank you for sharing your expertise Jonathan.
Thanks so much
Excellent tips,I wish I had this instruction few years ago!
Great explanation. As someone who tends to fall backward, I was afraid you weren't going to cover my issue. No worries - you covered all possible ways to lose balance. :) I now have a good idea on the root cause and adjustments needed....
This is vital to a proper swing. Something I could never do well. Your explanation is brilliant. Cheers
This is my great issue on balancing, hopefully can solve after watching this video. Thank you very much.
I’ve be EC n following your video for some time. I must say your method is the best. Simple and make lots of sense. Thank you.
Excellent Video. 🤪 usually loose balance. 🤪 will practice this exercice for sure..
Best instructions ever to understand
Great description, I have some drills to do as I fall over the ball after the swing.
I owe you a big thank you . I managed to hit four drives & two five woods off the fairway in a nine hole comp . The temperature was 32 degree I came in feeling the worst for wear . Hopefully this is the beginning of a change to my game . Ireland is not used to such high temperatures more of the same due this a / end plus it's an 18 hole comp. I'm looking forward to improving my game from here out . Thank you once again .
Your content is so good. I don't know why do don't have more views/subs. Many coaches in Insta, YT, FB etc focus on a small aspect of the swing leading many to believe that tip will fix your problems. But only a few actually relate all the elements of the swing. Also there is a tendency for many coaches to focus too much on the upper body. I think lower body is where the action is. Thank you.
Your swing is world class
Exactly the explanation and instruction that I have been looking for about my awkward balance! Love all your content 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
ive just realised that this is my first time seeing golf tutorial video framing from the side lead foot of the player while demonstrating the swing ! it has so much information! watch 7:47 !
You covered the balance issue really well , I now have a much better idea how to correct my falling forward. Thanks very much
I learned a lot from Pro Jonathan and Korean Pro Heo. These 2 young dudes are good! No doubt about it.
Excellent explanation...particularly good drills for helping to get the correct feel. Thank you!
Congrats. Very soft and clear!!
Thanks for another good and clear tuitional video
Yeah, you're very good. Excellent instruction and presentation. Thank you.
thanks man this really clicked for me the way you explained it. Cant wait to give to see how this drill translates on the range for me tomorrow
I got a little lost in this one. I do lose balance especially as I get tired. Mainly falling back and not being able to complete my follow through. Will watch again to see if I can figure this out. Great videos though!
This is very helpful because I have a tendency to step or fall to the left with my lead foot with both my irons and driver
Very helpful on the heel tip. I tend to fall forward on some drives
You always explain things so well
I love all of your videos. So great and helpful 💓
I really like your method of teaching and can relate to your simple lessons explanations. Do you give one on one online instructions/lessons?

This is exactly what I needed! Great vid coach! Wish I'd seen this years ago! haha
This guy is sooo good
Awesome, thanks for posting. Always look forward to your videos.
fantastic video!
ahahahah! Jonathan, thx for response my question how to balance on follow through , u r super nice !
I suffer from both falling forward and to the side. This video was very helpful.
Great video!! I am constantly falling forward on the follow through. Great explanation!!
Dear JKM, I am a big fan of your coaching videos and have been watching regularly and try to follow your instructions. My handicap which was fluctuating between 17-18-19 and sometimes I play even to 21-22. After watching your videos, last two months, my handicap has come down to 13 and I am consistently make 7-8 pars and 1-2 birdies. My four ball are quite surprised at the drastic improvement in my game. JKM, I am 58 years old and I play 3 days a week. Go to the range to practice and follow your instructions atleast for 2 hours ( 2 days a week).
Sir, still I have a problem with my lead arm as I tend to tighten at the time of follow through and I lose distance. How do I relax my lead arm. Can you post an video on this.
Sir, I REALLY STARTED ENJOYING MY GOLF AFTER WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS and look forward to many more of them. THANKS A LOT, sir. KEEP IT GOING
That is awsome to hear!!
Good explanation thank you. One question are you a keen advocate of S&T sorry I know this is not directly related to the video.
My position is as you say at 10:50. So I guess I need more tilt and also work on the belt being ahead of the upper centres as well?
We need your videos!!!
Great videos JKM, do you have anything on pre-round warm up exercises, stretches as well? Thank you
I have a few videos about stretches on my channel
Jonathan, would you consider posting a video of you performing maybe 10 consecutive swings each viewed from the the front, rear, and back? I believe that mental imaging so important in obtaining the proper swing. We can all agree that your’s is next to flawless.
Yea have my swings on my Instagram you can check out @jonathankmoss
what kind of shoes are those? love your lessons
G-Fore
Do you use this weight shift also when using the driver?
Where can I come to get lessons from you please?
Do you have advice/drills to get to the top position (club parallel to ground) in the backswing? Is it flexibility that’s limiting me or incorrect position? Does it negate overall distance if your backswing is “shorter” (i.e. not parallel)?
Where do you conduct your classes?
Another GREAT explanation, Jonathan 👍🏻
I’ve always wanted to finish more in balance, but never knew HOW to get there. I’m definitely going to try this.
It sounds like, in the “10 words of Stack & Tilt”, … “Tuck Hips”.
I’m definitely the guy that, as you say, “falls into the heels”. I think it’s early extension, but this explains it much better.
I’m going to work on both these things, but …
Q: Should I EXAGGERATE these moves at first to ingrain them?
… meaning, really thrusting my belt forward and severe tilt on the followthrough?
Thanks 🙏🏻
… keep up the good work
it wasnt explicitly mentioned but i think to have your weight on the lead side heel at finish, you have to imagine sticking your butt back throughout the downswing and finish. that's the only way to ensure your weight is on the heel while still maintaining tilt...
the torso and butt are counterbalancing each other so if either one is too far from the feet you will fall to that side
one thing to i always have to note is that it is also possible to have good balance while having improper motion, for example if i dont maintain tilt and dont stick mybutt out i will be completely straight and well balanced at finish. that can be misleading because i feel like i did well but actually i didnt, and i'll only know when looking at a recording of myself.
so i think this drill is really important to teach you how to in fact maintain tilt while being balanced at the same time. which is really hard.
Do you think about lower body in your swing more or less than your upper?
For me personally I feel pressure shifting into my lead side and I don’t focus on rotation because I think I do that more naturally but what an individual focuses on depends on their own tendencies so some player may need to focus on their lower body more than others
I really like your stuff. This one seems to be missing something vital, and that is speed. It is all well and good to practice slow balanced turns with no speed or force but not real world. Or are you saying that the body turns at slow speed and that the acceleration of the club come from some other place than body speed. With the emphasis on ground force today, where some players almost jump and land (Patrick Reed and Lexi Thompson) with their feet actually moving. I teach tennis and really emphasize ground force and many students get very light on their feet too. I am getting older and the back arch you show at finish can get painful at speed with the back arched. So fast and arched or just over the left foot pretty straight up? Thanks.
You don’t have to excessively arch your back but just ensuring that your upper body and lower body are positioned more or less on top of each other in the finish can help prevent your body from falling over.
If you are unable to hold balance while adding speed then there is definitely an issue of sequencing. I have other videos on my channel explaining sequence and where power is produced. But power comes from more than just your body
@@JKMGolf Thanks. So there is hope for us oldsters!
👍
too much time on the bad motion…
It is crucial players understand the issue that they have and what is really happening. If I just show how to do things correctly, people will have no awareness as to how I did it or what they would need to do/feel to make certain changes
