    Wow, up until now I could feel my elbows bending in the back swing. This technique completely eliminated both issues and I can't believe no-one else demonstrates this - like you do. So glad to find the video.

    Everyone of your instructional videos have been very beneficial to my game. I am very happy I found you and I look forward to each new video you put out each week. I highly anyone just beginning with golf or struggling with their game they watch your videos carefully and take the time to learn them and adopt them into your routine. If you listen carefully and practice the routines, your ball striking and your game should show improvement.I have been watching for about a month and I have already seen about a five stroke improvement in my game.

    Jonathan, I can't thank you enough for this video. I was a 5 handicap golfer before I took up bodybuilding years ago and the size I have gained particularly across my upper body, has caused exactly what you describe here. Great advice, pretty much THROUGHOUT the swing … setup, backswing, downswing, impact, followthrough, etc.
    Also, maintaining your arms structure (straight arms) is critical to maximize swing arc.
    Keep up the good work, Jonathan 👏🏻

    Since I retired in 2019 I’ve been dedicating myself to improving my golf game. Towards that end I’ve watch hundreds of videos on TH-cam, practiced what I’ve seen and played golf without consistent improvement. Starting in march 2023 I came across your videos and they are, in my opinion, the best ones on TH-cam. You explain everything in an easy to understand manner and walk through all the steps for a good swing and also the most common errrors. The videos have helped me tremendously. Best golf teacher and golf instructor on TH-cam. Keep up the great work Jonathan.

    Wow! I just happened to learn golf this past month. My coach that i often chicken wing it. Pulling my left arm early. I could’ve swear that I understood what need to happen (left arm straight after impact and thought i did extend my arm straight)
    But having seen this video, it totally made sense! This explains a lot..
    Will try this method, hopefully I will corrected my follow through.. thank you so much!

  • @liquidmocofilmsllc4915
    @liquidmocofilmsllc4915 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Jonathan, I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you! I did the arm punch drill today on the range. It completely corrected my backswing rotation. I would always, always wonder how pros keep their lead arm straight. In this video, you corrected my rotation and I am now able to keep my lead arm (left arm bcuz I'm right handed) completely straight with absolutely no effort.
    As a result, I am able to fullty rotate with a straight left arm, which translated into hitting my 7 iron from 145 avg to 175!! This is absolutely unbelievable!
    I used my rangefinder to mark a flag on the range that was 176 out. I used to have to hit my 25 degree hybrid to get that distance.... I consistently hit it to the flag with phenomenol high ball flight so I know it wasn't thinning for the extra distance.
    This has been the single most effective change to my swing in the 10 years I have been playing. Thank you sir much again Jonathan!

My sequencing has been off for 36 years and it’s hard to retrain but this makes perfect sense many thanks.

  • @mmccoy2654
    @mmccoy2654 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    My left arm has always broken down on the backswing. After watching this video and your beginner series of video I finally understand why. It has been due to a lack of proper rotation of the torso, shoulders and arms around the spine on the backswing. This has been due mainly to trying to take the arms back straight on the target line. I always thought I was just inflexible. I recommend for everyone here to watch your beginner series completely even if you have been playing a long while. The six videos are eye opening.

  • @robh1791
    @robh1791 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Like all this content, some new perspectives… and I’ve watched a lot of TH-cam golf.
    Only thing I’d add was the feel of pushing down the butt of the handle with the lead hand - this cocks the wrist but also straightens the arm. The more you push down the more the arm wants to straighten

  • @jerryr8935

    Thanks for this video. First time I tried this "left arm punch" I found that I could indeed keep my left arm straight. I am a 71 year old man and I work on my hip and shoulder flexibility several times per week. I did not think that I had the flexibility to keep my left arm straight, however doing the "punch" showed me that I could. Doing the punch seems to force a better shoulder turn. I am trying to do the punch now with every swing and so far has added yards to all my shots. This is a simple concept and keeping things simple is always better in golf.

  • @shug2795
    @shug2795 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    EXCELLENT...EXCELLENT...EXCELLENT!!! Why? Because I don't need to invest in fancy equipment or gimmicks. It is something I can do ANYWHERE that I have the time. It provides an immediately measurable assessment of your swing - you don't even need to video yourself!! This addresses my personal challenges to a tee. At 68, I think my lack of R.O.M. is restrictive. In fact, I have poor posture through-out the swing. Yes...I'm not as flexible as I was but I'm not trying for my card either. Finally, it brings to light that in order to improve at golf, you need to work on these things at home and NOT at the range where we become ball-focused and keep doing things improperly...repetitively. If I can't develop critically fundamental form/posture here at home, why am I trying to hit balls anyway?!?

    great punch drill! I was figuring my back swing today, and realised that if i stick the inside part of my left arm to my chest, while turning back, it would help in my rotation. that's exactly what you taught for the followthrough!

  • @WTSPC
    @WTSPC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Difficult to add more comment to what has already been said, Brilliant thank you. For me (old person) I rotate well and am flexible however my follow theough is a mess as I've always tried to keep my head behind the ball at all cost. The cost has been my upper body has not been extending probably through the swing. I know this as your simple explantation has highlighted this very clearly whilst others have overcomplicated this. Now I'm thinking maybe I'm not flexible enough, in comes the punch drill. Yep I can punch and guess what perfect extension like I'm there and haven't picked a club up yet. So I know that this is achievable thanks to you. Cant wait for the rain to stop here in the UK and I'll get out in the net and get going. ***** 5 gold stars for a brilliant video.
