My PlayHouse is a channel where i will show, what i am working on. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / 1808.3ft² and it is full, of half-finished projects.
I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. It all costs, but I'm trying to get the most out of my money, and my time.

A successful experiment. I really enjoyed the video, thanks for making it.
I would suggest getting a larger power brick to go along with the higher TDP of the CPU, I would shoot for a 90/95w brick if you can fine one, just to avoid brownout issues.

You could make a video explaining how much money an upgrade would bring benefit or prejudice to a system in any company,
when would be the time to invest in upgrades for servers.
I think it would be cool , especially for that is now beginning , show the importance of each (hz) processing. Shows some cool charts there for us hehe

I thinks it's easier to just look at the small half circle "cut outs" on the sides on the CPU than the triangle.
The socket has matching "pins" for them so that you can "only" place the CPU a certain way.

Keep the great video's coming including house projects. I'm a server guy myself. Question whats the next server project? Also when do you think the socket for that Asus board will be 3 months? Also. I've just recently finished a project that you might appreciate!
I had an older Dell Precision 690 laying around. These machines were designed to be workstations, but the motherboard supports Dual Xeon CPUs, and have 8 slots for RAM. It also has a 750-Watt PSU!
    I ordered:
Two (2) Xeon 5160 (dual 3GHz cores) CPUs
    32GB of PC667 DDR2 ECC RAM (8 x 4GB)
Intel Pro 1000MT Dual gigabit NIC (PCI-Express)
IBM Serveraid M1015 SAS/SATA Raid Controller (with RAID-5 dongle)
    5x Hitachi Ultrastar 7k3000 (2tb Enterprise HDD) (7.2TB RAID-5)
PNY CS1311 128gb SSD (for boot)
It's running Zentyal Community edition, and is my and my roommate's firewall/router/torrent/NAS machine.
It is an awesome bit of kit. We spent a grand total of $360 USD on it.
    It weighs a ton, too!

The current is being throttled. I put a i5 4690k in my m93 tiny, Intel extreme tuning shows throttling happens and forces the 4690k(88tdp) to run at 52 tdp. Bought a 120w power supply but the board itself throttles it down. Not too bothered by it though, as this tiny is super fast with it and the 4690k was lying around with no use.

    • @MyPlayHouse

How are the CPU temperatures? The original CPU has a TDP of 35 watts, so the cooling solution probably caters to a CPU of that TDP. The CPU you replaced it with has a 54 watt TDP, so it might run hotter. I am just curious, as this might have some bearing on your performance (as it may throttle the CPU to keep it cool).

Do you set the fan to full speed, or to best thermal control. I've tried both and only when set at full speed does it keep up. But full speed is too loud for an office. This is with the reccomended top end i-7 CPU...In both the units here it reaches 85c +, which for me is just too hot. I have an M700 coming, so anxious to see if it's any better. There are also a couple TH-cam videos that show a heat sink that mounts right on the CPU with the fan at the back. I am going to look into that as well.

That CPU in this video used a bit to much power,, and the M93 was a bit noisy,, I ran it for years, but I did another CPU swap in this video : th-cam.com/video/oKmo6btWp0s/w-d-xo.html

Nice to see an up to date comment. I am considering changing my i3-6100T too but I was worried about longevity since it would probably ran hotter and put more pressure to the MB/PSU because it uses more power than what was originally intended for these systems

Intel M cpus are mobile cpus, T means power optimized, with low power consumption. When you upgrade your cpu you should stay with the same TDP, sure you can get a "bigger" power supply, but cooling and the motherboard weren't desinged for that power. There are i5 even i7 cpus with 35W TDP.

@@MyPlayHouse Nice video. I had many of these on a network for 5 years , ours were all I5-xxxxT and I7-xxxxT cpus. All of those Ts are mobile and dual core unlike desktop I7s. That said, I really liked these, If your desktop cpu mod is working, good for you. Bence is technically right, but I don't think it would affect the other components much more than an unmodified one. Keep the fan intake and exhaust clean, failing fans and failed fans seem to be the biggest killer of these M93s.

I believe that reason why you don't get the intended score is because the new processor is thermal throttling - after all, that tiny heatsink was not designed to dissapate 20 additional watts (more than 60%) more than original CPU. These tiny clients are not meant to be upgraded with powerful components. After all - people who initially designed these are tiny bit smarter than all of us here in comments combined, and they knew what components will give the most bang for buck/watt/volume space. :)

I upgraded my M93 Pentium G3240T (2.7GHz fixed clock, no turbo) to a Core i5-4690T which is 45W TDP.
I noticed your cooler is an older revision as my one has an extra block of metal over the heat pipe, even my cooler gets quite warm up to about 86c during benchmarks, with one of the 4 cores throttling. I added some copper RAM heatsinks on top of the cooler and cut away some of the black plastic that sits at the front of the heatsink to add 3 more which should help soak up more heat. Worth upgrading those Pentiums to at least an i3 as you get faster 1666MHz RAM and improved GPU. It is not worth upgrading to an i7 as those are still expensive and not that much quicker than the i5-4690T which only costs about £45.

    • @soccerzockt1518
      @soccerzockt1518 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

My PlayHouse Maybe only a wificard fits in there, but any sort of M.2 or mPcie should provide pcie lanes for a graphicscard. You can use your awesome Ninja hacks to extend the pcie lanes to an external graphicscard.
