    My grandmother live to almost 100 years old, her only health issue was high blood pressure, and it was not that high, her diet for the most part of her life is what she called "a poor man's diet", beans, rice, lentils and lots of veggies, she ate meat and poultry once in while mainly in social occasions where to not be rude to the cooks she would eat it to show her appreciation. She was very healthy and never really took time to consider whether she was getting all the nutrients that she needed. She would always advise us kids to eat the "colors of the rainbow", our greens, oranges, reds, purples, yellows and so forth, making sure there was variety in our plates. People try to complicate nutrition when it's not, that's why I love your channel Sr., because you make it so easy to eat healthy. Thank you very much! 😁

    Whole food proteins. I eat tofu every morning. Beans most days too. That’s plenty for me. Plus plant foods. I’ve jogged for decades and unfortunately I’ve lost muscle mass. Now in my mid 50s and realize I’ll have to do resistance training on a regular basis to recapture some of what I lost.

    • @healthyveganeating
      @healthyveganeating  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +28

      Absolutely, I think resistance training would be a great addition to your approach and, in my opinion, supplementing with protein would be beneficial to maintain more muscle mass as you age.

    Another great video. I'm 63 and my life is all about trying to mitigate the damage I did for decades. I wonder what might have happened to my life if I had seen a video like this in 1979 when I was 18. Not worth spending much time on that thought lol, but we can work to get this in the hands of today's 18 year olds and help them to a healthier life with less illness and more mobility.

    • @TheStaffOfLife
      @TheStaffOfLife 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Yes, I have heard that 35% of our diet should be fiber. Only way to get that is by eating whole food, plant-based.
      There's a great health series out entitled, "Made for Health", and in it Dr. Wes Youngberg says that in countries where there's less processed foods eaten, bowel movements are larger & hospitals smaller, and vice versa for countries where hospitals are larger & the SAD (standard American diet) is prevalent, bowel movements are much smaller, too. Go figure!!! FIBER-rich is the way to go.

      It will be available for phone and desktop, and have the ability to print recipes and grocery lists for recipes you want to make. There will be videos of me walking you through my pantry, fridge, and freezer, and providing tips on how to stock your own. I will also show you all of my appliances and share all of the brands I recommend for foods and appliances.
      There will also be videos covering supplements, how to cook grains ( quinoa & millet ), tips for cooking oil-free, what are the healthiest foods, sleep, positive mindset, and several additional topics.I will also have lots of videos demonstrating my sensible approach to exercise and fitness that I describe as
      "consistency over intensity."
      Finally, there will be a calendar for people to schedule virtual cooking sessions with me for both couples and individuals. People can also schedule general Q&A sessions with me. So, it will be very comprehensive and offer lots of guidance information, and support, with new material added weekly. My hope is that lots of people will find the App helpful and empowering! It should be available in early January. Thanks for asking!!

    Hi, just got into your channel and love it. Just started being completely vegan since January 2024 after 1 year of working night shifts and eating crap foods and gaining alot of weight. Quit my job thank god and went back to school. i’m not a big eater and also don’t know what to eat vegan yet, lacking inspiration. I mostly juice with my juicer and drink 2 juices a day containing fruits and leafy greens and veggies and eat avocado toast everyday with hemps seeds, olive oil, fresh garlic, lime juice and curry powder hummm lol! I have overnight oatmeal with Silk almond milk with fruits on top and hemps seed. recently just add beans recipes to my diet like chili and pinto beans that are vegan and found on the internet. If not just rice with coconut oil inside and veggies or gluten free pasta with sauce. Since i’m in school full time and just started working out 4 times a week, i’ve been supplementing on proteins shakes with Sunwarrior brand and take 5g of creatine. I’m about 150 lbs and need to loose weights. I lost 8 lbs in a month since workout and eating healthy and getting more proteins, now 142 lbs. Been doing some research online and it’s says 1g of protein for every lbs. how i’m supposed to get 150g of protein in a day, to loose weight on a vegan diet when i eat little. I have Crohn disease so i don’t like to eat too much because my body doesn’t digest it like normal people and also some days i’m too busy to eat 3 meals. I have to take enzymes to help me digest maybe it’s all the proteins shakes i’m taking. I’m bloated all the time. I’m also very sensitive to alot of food. I don’t eat gluten and soy and very sensitive to caffeine also. Never drank a coffee in my entire life and i’m 43. Should i drink more amino acids drinks? Can you do a video with amino acids supplements if your not eating alot and what to use as pre-workout without caffeine, during and post workouts please…nobody is saying the same stuff on the internet and can’t find a solution. I can’t live on protein shakes to find 150 g. If i’m tired in the morning, i take 9g of MCT oil powder from Sunwarrior and it wakes me up but apparently can’t take another dose to wake me up before gym, if i’ve been in school all day and got gym after because they said it’s too much. I tried adding b12 supplements that has Methylcobalamin last week and got a really bad reaction….got panic attacks, high blood pressure ect…thank god, i had my panic attacks pills with me. i’m getting tested this week to see what was the allergic reaction was about the b12. So for now I can’t take nutritional yeast until i get tested for b12. I need a clean energy source before workouts and to stay awake when i got alot of homework to do. Please help and do more videos 🙏

    I was wondering if you would consider making a video like this one where you talk about how to avoid the "less good" stuff in plants, like oxalates and agaritin? I have some concerns about these things and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I'm vegan since it's still better than animal products of course, but I can't help but worry a bit about plant toxins. Could you perhaps make a video where you discuss some of the more common plant toxins and how to prepare food to minimise those toxins or which food to consume more/less of?

    Your skin always looks like its healthy with a shine or glow. I'm so dry and I want to put something on my skin so I glow like you. The problem is that I don't know what to use since I don't eat oil and avoid products that might absorb through the skin to harm my health. Do you know if oil applied to the skin is safe and wont enter my bloodstream and affect my cardio system? I've already had a heart attack and 3 stents. I started my healthy vegan journey last summer and I don't want to do anything to undo what I've been doing. I've seen great progress so far! I've been diabetic since I was 9 years old and on insulin 48 years. Since eating this way I've cut my insulin in half and where I couldn't walk to the mailbox without chest pain and shortness of breath a year ago, I now walk the treadmill 5 days a week a half hour at 2.6 mph currently and improving everyday. I've lost 35 lbs. too. I just found you about 2 weeks ago and I am about to try some of your recipes today after I picked up some ingredients yesterday. I'll probably do bacon, veggie ground, mayo, chicken with cherry sauce and some kind of dessert today! I love your style and content. Thank you for what you do. You are helping me!

    • @healthyveganeating
      @healthyveganeating  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I make my own skin moisturizer. I absolutely love that you are improving your insulin and stamina situations. I too walk on my treadmill at the start of each day and it's great exercise. So, please keep doing what you are doing and improving as you are able. The gift of health is the most valuable gift that you can give you. I'm so happy to hear that my recipes are helping and I am rooting for you!!

    Wow! I love your recipes and how well you explain everything. Do "wild" blueberries have a different taste than the fresh ones?

    • @healthyveganeating
      @healthyveganeating  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My experience has been that the fresh berries taste better. I think this is because they are bigger, juicer, and the texture is fuller tasting. Wild blueberries are really small, particularly when you bought frozen. Wild blueberries are even healthier than fresh, but the fresh are still plenty healthy also.

    I am a 70 yr old woman. I track my calories, nutrients, and exchanges in a spreadsheet I designed with a database I compiled. I don't know how I could get down to that RDA for protein. For example, I plan for three exchanges each of legumes and grain per day. Since I follow a whole-plant based diet, everything comes from plant sources. Typically, according to my spreadsheet, I get between 63 and 78 grams of protein.

    Could you do a video on how you make sure you get the rda of calcium? This is what I worry about the most. Perhaps show exactly what you eat in a day. On top of being gluten and dairy free, I also need to stay away from soy and a couple of other food. I also worry about oxalates. Thankyou for all the epic recipes you share.

    • @healthyveganeating
      @healthyveganeating  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Everything you mentioned are things you should be considering, so great questions. I will be making videos for my
      Healthy Vegan App thoroughly discussing soy and calcium. I don't eat processed soy either, although I do eat organic whole soybeans. I made a soy free tofu and will attach the video to the end of this message. Regarding calcium, keep in mind that there is significant calcium in green leafy vegetables, particularly collards and spinach. Since you are concerned with oxalates, spinach would not be a good choice, though. There is also decent calcium in nuts and seeds, and sesame seeds in particular has high amounts. I have already added a video to my App showing what I eat in day.👌🏾

      I typically suggest nuts and avocados as healthy, high fat and calorie foods to put on weight. I eat a moderate amount of nuts everyday, but would eat more, along with avocados for weight gain. I will do a video of what I eat in a day and include it in my Meal Plan & Lifestyle App.
