Hey everyone! So I got a new car and decided to use my 2018 Impala Premier as a subject for some cool slider shots! That, and I really wanted to show off the exhaust my Dad and I build for it. I love this car and it's honestly sounding really good for a v6. I hope you all enjoy the video!
I can only wish for Chevy to make an SS AWD V8 version, Impala would be king. THE CHAMP IS HERE

Agreed. They should've discarded the SS and added that motor as a upgrade trim option. But the car is still awesome.
I could never understand why people insinuate that an exhaust has to sound like a v8 to sound good. It has a nice raspy exhaust note reminiscent of a tuner. I'd prefer flowmasters that's just my preference but the mag's still sound good to me.
I like it. It’s not annoyingly loud. But sounds preppy! I love it. It’s perfect.
Funny thing is after awhile it got pretty loud and droned real bad in the cabin. I actually ended up changing it again lol

Yea but considering what the impala cost already imagined how much it cost if it was awd v8 then it been in a different price market v6 awd would of been good enough. They had the chevy ss if you wanted a ss but people hardly bought those which is why they was discontinued as well.

I own the LT V6 version; they have manual(push button) shifting.

I also have the 2018 impala lt 3.6. I want to do some kind of exhaust that makes it louder. Not like annoying loud, but when I step on it, people turn to look. When you did this, did you run into any issues with check engine light ? And I’m a bit concerned about my dealership warranties. Would a exhaust system void those?
Nope, no check engine light, as long as you don't touch the catalytic converters you'll be fine! Also, if you don't want it too loud then I honestly recommend just changing the mufflers to a 14 inch magnaflow or flo-pro max and leave in the resonator. Cause this system would drone a lot for me on the highway so I had to change it up lol.

How much faster did this magnaflow make yours? I planned on buying one for my 2017 premier model and was upset I can’t even put a cold air intake in mine 😩.
Oh I know I still can't find an air intake for mine dude. I just put in a K&N air filter which still helped a lot. Never have to change it and it definitely gave it more pep. And the exhaust definitely added some more pep to it with the bigger pipe lmao. It also bogged a bit cause there wasn't enough back pressure so I'd recommend 14" mufflers at least too lol

@@YoTone21 Yeah it's the the square one you replace the OEM filter with. It's actually thinner and lets more air in the engine. It's $85 or so CAD but it was worth it. I noticed an improvement and it makes a really cool whooshing noise everytime you rev up lmao

What do they call that grill cover? I want one but I can find a consistency with these grills or on aftermarket
That grill is only for the impalas that have automated cruise control. If you dont have it, you cant get that grille.

I mean as long as you have a custom place that can do it then sure! It's definitely legal though, I've never been bothered after putting it on lol

Well I cut out the resonator too but I wouldn't recommend that cause it droned way too much. I actually ended up putting the resonator back in and putting in 14inch flo-pro max mufflers. It's a lot less drone now.

So question, can I just do a muffler delete on my 2018 impala put a 2.5 at the end or whatever and call it a day or do I have to swap them with another muffler?
If you do a muffler delete, it tends to be pretty loud and will drone a fair bit when you're cruising around. Even with this exhaust I ended putting a resonator back in and putting bigger mufflers on. In all honesty, I recommend doing a muffler swap at a custom exhaust shop so it doesn't end up being annoying in the long run lol.

I went full throttle down the road actually lol. I also didn't want to make the video too long. I'm glad that you like it though! Funnily enough, I actually changed it and made it a fair bit quieter, it droned WAY too much like this.

What if I just added the magnaflow exhaust to the car without a custom pipe? Would the sound be the same?
Honestly if you just swap the mufflers for 14 inch magnaflows and leave the resonator in, it'll sound better. Mine had a lot of drone so I had to change it anyways.
Did you keep your stock resonators?
No I didn't for this setup. But I ended up putting in a 24 inch magnaflow round muffler in place of it later because it droned a lot lol

will it sound the same on a 2016 impala if i remove the mid pipe to a straight pipe?
Unfortunately no it won't. The mufflers on the back are too big and will still baffle most of the sound. I've heard it doesn't sound too bad if you straight pipe the mufflers, but I would look around on TH-cam to see if you like it first.
I already straight pipe the rear mufflers.
How were you able to put a k&n filter since the sensor on the old filter box
It actually doesn't affect anything. The drop in filter won't mess up anything with the stock sensor. It's more so when you put a whole cold air intake in.
Can you do that with a 2017?
All I want is to V8 swap my 2015 Impala, With how clean the car is it would be a insane balance between american muscle and grade A class.

Oh the front grill? Nah, that's from factory cause it has all the collision warning sensors, and the adaptive cruise control in the front end.

Have this exact setup magnaflow 2.5 sitting waiting to be installed on my 2015 LT. Problem is we will have to fabricate the end tips as the LT used turn downs originally and there is no exits in the bumper. Thanks for the upload it gives me a good idea what mine will sound like with the mods I already have. Plus tuning
how are you going to get around the turn downs? i have a 2017 lt and im curious as well

@@yeeps you would need to use the LTZ bumper only. That one comes with the pre drilled exhaust openings.
Nice exhaust! What top speed have you achieved on the impala?
Never taken it to a track so I don't know but the exhaust mostly improved acceleration.
Did any of your check engine lights come on or get any problem codes after putting on this exhaust

Do you make any further changes to the exhaust from what is shown in the video? Think you mentioned something about reducing the drone.
@@prixinc1 oh very nice! In Canada I wasn't able to find the midnight edition of the premier so I had to go and black out the emblems myself and get black rims for it. As well as putting a black tint on the headlights and tail lights which in my opinion looks amazing and isn't too bad for visibility with the HID lights but I'm sure cops still don't like it lmao. But i changed the exhaust because it did drone a lot with this setup. I switched to 14" Flo-pro max muffler and put in an 18" magnaflow round muffler as the resonator and it helped a lot. To be perfectly honest, if you're on a budget just changing the mufflers will sound the exact same as a whole new exhaust because the stock resonator is actually a straight through glassback design so it doesn't reduce flow at all.

But I definitely get your point of it being a sedan. I just figured why not? I work at a custom exhaust place and I wanted it to be a bit louder. Personally I like it but if I had a performance car I would definitely put the stock exhaust back on this thing. XD

@@mikeysantellano4655 Yeah that's basically what I built on mine, except I took out the resonator. The funny thing is, I actually put in the round Magnaflow muffler afterwards because it started to drone pretty bad on the highway lol. I think you'll be very pleased with that kit, it's nice and loud when you step on it, but not overkill at idle. Worst case, you can always go to a custom exhaust shop and get them to straight pipe your resonator if you want it louder too.

I work at an exhaust shop so it didn't cost me a lot. I recommend going to a custom exhaust shop and pricing out how much it would be to just do a muffler swap cause without the resonator it drones a lot.

When you turn up the music you can honestly barely hear the exhaust. Especially with the windows up lol.

@@JustJoshNow1 so from what i gathered is the impala doesn't have an aftermarket cold air intake you have to look around other cars that have the engine mounted sideways just have to make sure its a lfx motor if i find a cold air ill link it. but what i got was a simple intake to replace my box so i can fit an 80mm throttle body and im getting the throttle body ported with my air manifold and an air manifold spacer im supposed to gain 50whp with a tune and more if i can get a e85 kit. the best way to find mods is to look in the other cars aftermarket crap because we dont got none

WTF???? I got flowmasters mufflers on my 2013 Chevy Impala LTZ that roar much deeper than that son. I didn't spend a fortune changing out all of the factory piping to achieve that sound either. Seems like you wasted your 💰. All that needs to be done is changing out the mufflers with the right series muffler for your 3.6L engine and you will get the same or better results. Changing out all that piping is a waste of 💰 that can be better spent in other places hyping up the car.
I changed the piping for better flow and the magnaflows sound just fine to me after they broke in. It's all personal preference. I paid next to nothing for it as well since I work at a custom exhaust shop. Hard to waste money when it barely cost anything.

It would have sounded a lot better if they made the Impala in the V8 engine if I owned this car as it is with a V6 V 3.6 . I would have left the exhaust stock and not change a thing leave it to the regular sound that it is. No offense to the video and the person of what he done to his car but if it was me I would leave it stock with two double exhaust that's good enough for me.

Sounds really ricey...i always hated magnaflow, should've went with Flowmaster, prolly wudve sounded better
The funny thing is I actually forgot to weld the y-pipe all the way around so it wasn't reaching the mufflers lmao. But you're right, I added in a 3rd round magnaflow muffler in place of the resonator and it really helped with the drone/ricey sound. Luckily I work at an exhaust shop so I could always change it to flowmaster or flo-pro max for some more baffling lmao.
