Not only is your work so extremely entertaining and exhilarating (I'm learning from your progress), but taking advice from the comments as you go is such a refreshing way of working. Now it's Springtime so be careful of snakes too! They will love keeping cool under your containers. My first pet was a chook, so I now how you feel! Boss lady rocks! Keep on rocking it Jas. we love you!
Aww thank you so much this is such a wholesome comment! 🥰 Luckily the space under the containers is huge , I can squat without my head touching in most parts so not good for hiding thankfully! Thank you I’m taking the news hard but I’ll make the most of our time together for sure! 🥰Thanks again and I’ll see you next week ☺️☺️🙏
Crying over a chicken wasn't on my bingo card for today 😢 so sorry to hear of Boss Lady's diagnosis, I hope she remains happy and as healthy as she can for as long as possible ❤
For drainage off the roof - 2 thoughts is paint the crap out of the roof of the containers (some rubber paint or bitumen), then some poly carbonate/plastic sheeting/monoclad/corro at some slope to facilitate any fluids to drain. Another thought to get the angle at a cheaper rate would be to either aerocrete or mix foam with cement though to get the slope for run off would be more difficult.
Your determination is so impressive to get the job done.just continue on doing what you do best.be safe.sorry bout boss lady, coming along, you can outdo many a man and woman I know.waiting for next adventure with you.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Nice work jas it's looking great, consider getting a portable sawmill in to cut the Jarrah will do a much better/faster job and waste a lot less timber than a chainsaw would also save you having to buy a ripping chain
You could fill the gaps with metal strips pitched to the gutter. However you might get away with a rubber membrane with an osb backing pitched slightly. Bit like a shed roof

good job on the build, but it's also the little moments that are enjoyable... your rustic pottery production. your pups waiting for you to be available to watch to goof around. sorry to hear about boss lady. you are building a great life, and living one as well. not always easy, but good things rarely are. thank you for sharing the adventure 🙌👍😏

poor little Boss chicken your dogs are lovelly the way there so calm with her its like there protecting the chicken you strong lady those beams were heavy so good your building skills
Awesome progress muscles! Love that deck up there. I want that...nice spot for a cold one in the evening! So sorry to hear boss lady not well. Keep up the great vids. Look fwd to them every week. Gonna be an awesome house. 😊
Thank you so much! How’s the muscles hey 😂 I actually find them so funny on me if they get much bigger they will look so out of place! The deck is going to be actual heaven when I’m done with it! I’ve got sooo many plans! Thank you for the kind words about boss lady ☺️🙏
Hi Jas your determination to complete a task is incredible. I can’t wait for your Sunday updates but come on not enough dance moves lol you are a joy to watch and I will pray for boss lady. You are a real scout a huge inspiration to enjoy life and a real inspiration for myself to move forward in my new life. Thanks Jas you rock. God bless you and boss lady and stay safe and have a fire plan.
I’m so sorry to hear about boss ladies’ diagnosis. It’s tough to see our pets suffer but she is in the perfect place to live out her life to the fullest. Even with sad news you cheer up every Sunday morning for me with your courage and enthusiasm Jaz. Great work again this week so plan the next part well to stop water laying under the decking, take advice xxx
Thank you so much she really is! I wish she had longer! 😢 Thank you so much for your kind words, I still like my idea the best but it needs some evolving , hopefully it will come to life soon! 😍
Such a shame to hear about boss lady, hopefully she's got a while left yet. Either way she's had a nice life with you, lots of love and attention, and a nice place to live. There's only a couple of options I can think of for under the deck. You can either spend a bit of time welding drains in every rib, a bit of pipe and run it through the external wall, then paint everything with a couple of coats of rubberised paint, or just paint it and make sure its well ventilated under the deck so it evaporates. The low spots you could try and take out with an acro prop and a bottle jack from the inside.
Another week of hard work. It is starting to take shape. 🎉 it’s so difficult for people who love animals at this level. I hope you can have the longest time possible with her. ❤
Thank you so much! And yeah it honestly is , to be honest I can’t even think about getting anymore at the moment, losing my three other girls this year has been so devastating I don’t know if I can do it again! ❤️
Maybe some 2nd hand laserlite sheets off market place to sit on top of the containers and underneath the decking to stop the water pooling? You could use silcone or sikaflex to glue them to the containers. Really enjoying watching your build. Wish i had of documented my house build like your doing.
Thank you’! That was my first thought but from what I can see it will cost around $1000 and I was hoping to do it for a bit cheaper but it maybe the way to go! 🙌
Hi long time watcher, first time commenter. Just had to say that a laugh is good medicine and Boss Lady waiting to be included in the dog play was a dose well needed. Thanks
Hello there 👋☺️ haha honestly I swear she’s trying to work out how to play with them, she’s keen everytime they get near her, the neighbours dog (bigger one) is terrified of her but her and jango go at it all the time (Jango doesn’t bite but it’s like a full biff) once boss lady tried to follow me into the caravan before Jango and Jango full clotheslined her to the ground , she’s a very jealous girl 😂☺️🙏
Oh, I’m so sorry about Boss lady’s dx. Praying she still has a lot of time left with you still, she’s so special. Love how she hangs out with Jango and her friend ❤️ Wow, it’s really taking shape now up on that deck.. the view is beautiful ❤️
G’day Jasmin, I’m so sorry to hear about boss lady ❤ On a brighter note, the deck is well on its way. All those muscles you’ve built up earlier in the build, are definitely paying off. Throwing around 8m boxed steel haha!!😅 Well done for keeping a cool head, when it came to your welding 🔥. I honestly thought when I saw you using the sponge, whilst laying down the rust coat, was an awesome idea. So I’m glad you did a comparison between the brush and sponge, showing the difference is night and day.😊 Here’s to sunshine and high spirits and of course, dancing like no-one’s watching haha!! Have a great one, mouse
Hey Mouse! Thank you for boss lady! And the deck is soo exciting!! 😂 the steel although is heavy! Yeah it’s not my first fire rodeo I use to teach fire safety at my bush school so I’m big on it! Being calm is definitely the best way to deal with it! 🙌 Yess crazy about the sponge heaps of people recommended but I’m not a fan ! Yess more sunshine! ☀️🙏🙏☺️
Soo sorry to hear about boss lady ❤ I have seen people in the us use a plastic sheeting thing for snow under decking. Not sure if it would work in Aus as we have different weather and laws here but worth looking into. Glad you had that fire so you can also pop a bucket of water inside for any future fire issues. Always worth having a bucket or extinguisher on hand. Love your videos ❤
Thank you so much I’m pretty devastated about the news! 😢 and thank you I’ll look it up! Yeah luckily I’m right next to my rainwater tank so I got some full buckets from there but was hoping not to use my fire extinguisher unless really needed to (for clean up purposes 😂)
You are doing a great job. When you put down the wood decking, what is the span underneath it that will support the wood. Too wide and you could get some bouncing in the wood deck. You don’t want a bouncy deck. Looking/g fantastic. ❤
Firstly Jass I’m really sorry about the outcome for Boss Lady, just make her last hopefully up to 12 months happy, I know you’ll do that, mate I’m so sad for you. Secondly. So look forward to Sundays to see what you got up to during the week. Take care see you soon. 🥰

Next time your moving 8 mtr lengths up top put the floor end on top of a barrel or a rung on your step ladders it brings the top down and at a better angle for lifting instead of being almost vertical 😎😎👍👍
Hi it's Neil schwerdt in west valley city Utah I wanted to say that you are doing a great job on your house. 😊 Here in Utah it is Hot in the high 80,s in October not good. My Dad use to teach weiding in high school my Dad would be very proud of you. I love watching you on TH-cam. Well take Care of your self. From Neil schwerdt
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas unfortunately there isn't much you can do to keep the water from pooling under the timber decking. One option would be to lay a fibre cement layer above the container and waterproof it. Bit late for that now though. I'd seriously suggest not laying timber up there and installing fibre cement and tiles. Low maintenance and won't let any water penetrate. Save your Jarrah for later and build a nice deck around the lower level. It'll save you a lot of heart ache and time trying to maintain and repair damage from pooling water.
The only way to stop water getting on the corrugated floor is to waterproof the next surface you put on, maybe some construction black mastic, but it means the wood floor has to sit not be screwed down 😊
I wonder if some type of floor leveling compound, or maybe even covering with concrete might be the way to go ? gets rid of the ridges where water would pool.
What I would do is 2 applications of waterproofing then put the steel down for your deck then waterproof all that again. Should last you a long time. That is going to be a huge deck! I can see a bar and a dance floor up there. Party in the Grass Tree Outback.
Do you need to fill the gap around between the bottom and top container before you cut holes for stairs? It might be best to do that before putting the deck on. Coming together though now, looks great!
I was thinking that but I’m actually installing timber panelling on the under side , but could I have some kind of sunroof area hmm 🤔 I love sun so I like this idea I was thinking of doing it over my bed in the room too 😂
Love boss lady, would you consider getting her a friend or two 😉. I miss my girls, your place is awesome can't wait to see what else you do with it. Bright blessings xx😊
yep i have 20 acres in Adelaide hills and have had 2 fires since ive had it one was just grass so wasnt scary but the second on was furious and burnt everything sept my van and sheds
It’s all coming together nicely. Sorry to hear about boss lady. I didn’t know that info you shared about chickens and how long they live. I noticed you have a few holes in the sheeting in n the roof. Are you going to patch them up before any rain hits you? Anyway have a good week.
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas 👍 nicely done. Most people would have forgotten to do that. As far as the deck boards go, after you mill them, seal the bottoms and sides of the boards before you fasten them to the deck frame, then you can seal the tops of the boards after fastening them to the frame. I’d recommend milling the deck boards at 25mm-38mm thick to minimize any flex in the deck boards when you walk around on the deck. I’d even recommend using a rubberized coating on the tops of the containers as an additional waterproofing barrier. Just some thoughts to make things easier for you. Work smarter, not harder.
Water pooling under the decking 🤔..paint it with liquid rubber paint would probably cost a lot but it would work.. maybe a pond liner glued down might work..but that might just cause condensation between the plastic in the metal 🤔. Not an easy fix, but I’m sure there’s a way..
For milling timber you can buy a jig for a chainsaw and then use the ripping chain to mill timber (Marty T th-cam.com/video/pA8j-uK-jKA/w-d-xo.html) , not as effective as band saw mill but perhaps you could do a side project on building one - Kris Harbor Natural building did a custom mill and has used it a lot for building his timber post barn. Marty T has also done some mill videos. Or if you are brave just build a free chainsaw mill th-cam.com/video/8iMi04iTs9U/w-d-xo.html piece of something flat with spaces bolted on to the chainsaw - seems like the way to go!
Awwww hun 💔💔 sorry to hear ab0ut Boss Lady, she's an absolute trooper and wont be going anywhere for a while though dont you worry!! She's living he most blessed chicken life EVER!! I lost my furry soul connection baby to old age/cancer and they said six months maaaaax......1 year and 8 motnhs later she was still going strong but other old age problems started (renal failure). Cant wait to see how you're gonna mill that wood yourself!! Are you hiring equipment to do it? Also whats your thoughts on fixing the water getting trapped issue? The only thing I can think of is to put something completely watertight beneath the decking and close/seal the perimeter in? Near miss got your heart pumping i bet!! 😳🤣
I hope not , but I think it’s already giving her other problems so I’m not sure how long she’s had it 😢 I’ll do my best though to keep her healthy and spoilt! Wow that’s incredible about your chicken!! My idea involves a channel system drainage with builders plastic but it would have to be easily accessible for maintenance, it’s a bit of tough one 🤔 😂😂 boy did it ever like the day before open fire ban too , luckily that’s one of the reasons I chose containers they don’t catch on fire 😂🙌
I’m not sure how to process this one. On one hand I’m super happy about the container progress and on the other sad to hear about Boss Lady. 😢 Here for you. 🫂
Thank you so much! I know I’m still struggling too, I’m trying not to think about it and hope she has a while left yet (as I can hear her pecking her food when she should be sleeping 😂🥰) ❤️

Shit I wrote this before you said anything about boss lady 😢 I'm so sorry honey
I thought so, that’s why I was waiting to reply, I think a well needed holiday is due for me first before I get anymore girls 😢
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jas sounds like a good idea
Ahhh, been waiting for this.
Yay! I really hope you enjoy! ☺️🙏
@@Building.a.Dream-Barefoot_Jassuch good progress, can’t wait to see you mill all that wood. Sorry to hear about Boss Lady.
yep i have 20 acres in Adelaide hills and have had 2 fires since ive had it one was just grass so wasnt scary but the second on was furious and burnt everything sept my van and sheds
Omg I am so sorry to hear that !! This is definitely one of our biggest issues in Aus! I’m so glad you’re okay though!
I need a month of Sundays please 😊
🥰aww thank you!! 🙏
Doing a fantastic job keep up the good work girly 😁
Thank you so much 🙏
Spray foam would fill the gaps and add insulation
It’s all coming together nicely.
Sorry to hear about boss lady. I didn’t know that info you shared about chickens and how long they live.
I noticed you have a few holes in the sheeting in n the roof. Are you going to patch them up before any rain hits you?
Anyway have a good week.
Thank you so much, I’m devastated! And they are already patched with clear silicone ☺️🙌
You’ll want to seal all of the previously drilled holes on your metal roofing to prevent rain from coming through and settling under your deck.
Already done it, it’s clear silicone ☺️🙌
@@RobertHamm-u7c fantastic advice thank you so much! ☺️
Sorry but your arms are gorgeous! Sometimes I need to rewind to admire them because wow 💪
And those back muscles too??
What about concrete sheets on top
Water pooling under the decking 🤔..paint it with liquid rubber paint would probably cost a lot but it would work.. maybe a pond liner glued down might work..but that might just cause condensation between the plastic in the metal 🤔. Not an easy fix, but I’m sure there’s a way..
I think I’ve thought of something 😝🙌
This lady is one amazing chicken...assuies very best
She really is , isn’t she! Got so much attitude and personality, she literally plays hide and seek with me all the time 😂
For milling timber you can buy a jig for a chainsaw and then use the ripping chain to mill timber (Marty T th-cam.com/video/pA8j-uK-jKA/w-d-xo.html) , not as effective as band saw mill but perhaps you could do a side project on building one - Kris Harbor Natural building did a custom mill and has used it a lot for building his timber post barn. Marty T has also done some mill videos. Or if you are brave just build a free chainsaw mill th-cam.com/video/8iMi04iTs9U/w-d-xo.html piece of something flat with spaces bolted on to the chainsaw - seems like the way to go!
Ohh that’s awesome! I actually already bought a portable mill ☺️🙌
Thanks God for the good weather 😝
I know right! ☀️
try your spray gun for painting the container
Nah waterproofing shit is reaalll thick like rubber the paint sprayer says it won’t take it 👎
so upsetting the news about the boss lady keep strong ❤
Thank you so much I’m pretty devastated about it 😢❤️
I’ve noticed old holes In the roof sheets
They are all silicones up already 🙌
Fire! Dont panic! Lmao.
Yesss 😂 literally have that tattooed on me
Awwww hun 💔💔 sorry to hear ab0ut Boss Lady, she's an absolute trooper and wont be going anywhere for a while though dont you worry!!
My idea involves a channel system drainage with builders plastic but it would have to be easily accessible for maintenance, it’s a bit of tough one 🤔
😂😂 boy did it ever like the day before open fire ban too , luckily that’s one of the reasons I chose containers they don’t catch on fire 😂🙌
Ur core❤
What about apoxy pour it on dont know if it would work
The roof can’t take any weight in it so I believe it would be too heavy unfortunately 😢
Best wishes for boss Lady. I wonder if spray foam and sheeting would help stop the water pooling. Not an expert at all.
Thank you so much I’m devastated about it, and thank you! 🙏
❤
☺️💛
You can't have a hole free day due to the screw holes in your roof sheeting!
They are already filled with clear silicone you silly sausage you!
Why use steel? Must cost a fortune , timber so much lighter and cheaper?
Steel is actually cheaper here and better for the high fire risk area I’m in ☺️
Hello beautiful 🌹 friend
Mitch
Heyyy Mitch ☺️🙏🙏
What about all the screw holes in the sheets?
They are are siliconed already 🙌
Sick🤟
I’d love to move to Australia but it’s sooo expensive
That’s why we are laid well 😝
Id love to do what u do and just build my own thing but moving from uk to Australia is like 20k so maybe one day the dream will be a reality
Are those holes all over your roofing iron?
They are all filled with clear silicone ☺️🙏
Ahh I see, good good 😊
Hey beautiful

Quite eventful. Well done, great episode. See you next week.
Thank you so much! I’ll see you there ☺️👋
I’m not sure how to process this one.
On one hand I’m super happy about the container progress and on the other sad to hear about Boss Lady. 😢
Here for you. 🫂
Thank you so much! I know I’m still struggling too, I’m trying not to think about it and hope she has a while left yet (as I can hear her pecking her food when she should be sleeping 😂🥰) ❤️
the build is lookin good, maybe you do need some free range chickens
😢 I don’t know if I can handle the heart break of losing them again but maybe after some time
