That dumper is earning its money! That was good investment. I’m at watching your videos in order and I am catching up quickly to the present. It’s been fun watching the progress. You are making. You are a hard worker and it is paying off.
Just found your channel, and am absolutely transfixed with all you have accomplished! I have to say I'm amazed Phillippe's back held up after the first year. Mine hurts watching him. What a magical area you've choosen. I wonder what the chickens, dog, and Odin will do if you all run out of projects, and they don't follow Phillippe around. Thanks for all you do, so others can enjoy your adventure. Happy 2025!
I think your problem is better solved by a good drainage system that leads the water away from the house. You can use quite real drainage pipes at the end of where you have dug and a smaller one around the house to keep the water away from the house. Then you can make a softer slope towards the building.
Haha Thank you! What you didn't see is before i fixed it we decided to go out and have a meal and a glass of wine before i tackled it 😂I was fed up with things going haywire that day i needed a reset 😂
You can lead the water further into the landscape and your property to form an artificial lake. Which you will use as a water source during the warmest periods of the year. Be able to swim there and have fish farming in the future perhaps.
Ah, Sunday mornings with Phillippe, Anicia, Odin (and Bob)! My favorite time to sit back, watch and chill. Prayers for nothing but sunshine and dry weather in the coming week! 🙏🏻

Hi from New Zealand, what a lovely , loving little family. I was so impressed with Phillipe sorting the soil to remove the rubbish. So many of us would think we SHOULD DO THAT, but be put off by the big job that it is. Well done. No half measures with this guy. Doing a wonderful job, with help from the adorable wee man.. We are heading into our summer in South Island of NZ. Warm weather will be so welcome 🤗. Love your chanel.
I found your channel a couple of months ago. I went on a complete journey with you and binge watched all while I was crocheting. I look forward to each new adventure with my new young friends. I am 75 and live in south Dakota.
That's a good idea. Make the back-barn area into a large fish-growing pond, tap into the slope springs for fresh water, and proper drainage of the slope's (zone of saturation) water level. Terrace the slope, and have vineyard or orchard terraces, sucking up any excess waters in the soil by the vines, fruit trees, and nut trees. Terraced ig trees would be great water suckers as their wood is soft. Any willows planted around the fish pond would provide shade, but also massive water suckers, keeping the soil behind the barn, dry and maintained.
As I am playing catch up with channel, I have a comment that has probably been said before but here goes. Place your filter fabric and clean (no fines) base rock where the grading is already complete. It will preserve your prepared subgrade as well continue to help drain the area and provide a strong roadbed until you trench in the permanent trench drain.
Odin is getting so big! I remember when you were pregnant with him. I love it when he says momma!! You both our a amazing couple and parents. You all have done so much hard work and it shows on each video. Thank you both for always sharing your life and this wonderful journey. Cindy🇺🇸❤️🙏🏻
You both have such pleasant personalities even under trying circumstances. Your son is a joy to watch, what a cutie! I do love watching your chickens they love to be under foot I think.
Wishing you one entire week of sunshine. One day you will walk around the areas of this project and say, "hard to believe I did all of this myself." You're quite the hard worker! 👍👍👍
If you spread lime it would harden the ground. 5% to 10% lime is spread and tilled into the soil to “firm” up the ground. The lime reacts with the water in the soil to produce cementitious compounds making the soil firm and water resistant. Lime stabilization is an excellent choice when the soils contain a large amount of clay.
Philippe and Anicia, You do a fantastic job with your channel and the content. You are making inspiring work on the homestead. Odin is such a joy and a credit to you both. Thank you for sharing your journey with us as we follow your work as you continue to refurbish the land and your home. Best wishes to you both and appreciation for your editing and filming skills 🇫🇷
Anicia et Phillipe you are very deserving for working in so harsh conditions. Ah la gadoue, la gadoue......hope we have a couple of dry weeks for the remaining of October, as this 'gadoue' looks very dangerous.
Philippe, have you considered dumping the spoil in a temporary location closer to the barn given the risk of getting Mr Thwaites the tipper stuck on the dam ridge or worse still, sliding down off the ridge? It would allow quicker removal of the soil behind the barn to alleviate the immediate issue of water ingress into the buildings and you could shift the temporary spoil heap in spring when ground conditions improve. I know it will add to fuel costs, but getting Mr Thwaites stuck and perhaps even Bob also in the rescue effort would be a game changer. Feel free to say NO Way - I'm just a couch potato and love watching this channel!
I will have to if i want to finish it, fuel cost is okay with these little machines but the dumper does drink a lot more when he has to struggle on the dam!
Just found you guys a ,couple of days ago. I am passed my prime now, but so enjoying learning life skills from you guys just by watching your videos in my own comfort zone. ❤

Congrats on your videos, they are really awesome! Regarding the pond you are creating at the bottom of your land, one thing that could be great is to bring there fresh water from your spring behind the barn. Yes it involves finding the source of water and quite a lot of piping, but if you arrange it so the water falls into the pond from a certain height (not to much), it will bring oxygen / current into it, and avoid algae invasion, and ycould give you a quite clear and sane pond You could then swim in the summer, and even the possibility to bring fish in it if you want. and it is better for biodiversity. With the slope on your terrain, I figure it could be possible. And with the excavation your doing now, it is the right moment to implement it if you are interested. Anyway, keep up the good work, it is a real pleasure to see your weekly accomplishements!
That barn wall could make a great warm wall to grow espaliered fruit trees, like apricots/peaches, against if it is S - SW facing. Easy to hang bird netting or fleece (late frosts) from a batten rail just under the eves, if needed. 👍
It breaks my heart seeing you week after week struggle with that rain and mud . I wish you had someone to help you ,because that is hard work.Starting to see the end of it though,at least with the digging behind the barne ...keep it up ,well done XoXo
I admire your persistence you are doing a great job by the end you will be quite proficient on a digger ,next time retract the idler with the digger bucket , if your going to slope at 45 do it as you go its not worth the risk and your going to have to go back and do it anyway , many years ago a bank collapsed on me no warning obviously i survived but had to be dug out its not pleasant , you dont have to take my advice after all only been a builder for 53 years lol
Well done, single handed you moved a hill and will be creating a terrace slope. It’s has been awesome watching you and your partner working on the different projects
Hi Philippe, I showed your video of your land excavation because my mate does excavation for a living but with larger machines. He was amazed and very impressed with what you have done with your smaller excavator and your motorised earth carrier. When I was telling him about your machines he had to check out your videos and got hooked.😂 Cheers from Aussie ❤
As they say, How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time😂 You are building your little kingdom that way. Each challenge you put behind you, you grow. You are two positive parents and I love your attitudes. Always here cheering you on🥰🚜🌻🐔🐾
You will get to that place whereby rainy days will not affect all of your outbuildings and lands. All that you are doing now will pay dividends for your futures. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
Incredible effort skill once again I fixing machines then high risk driving then the commitment to removing the bank on the two barns ...Phillips your amazing!!
Every time i see the little dumper smoking like a freight train i need to laugh ... you really put it to work ... have you been checking if the fuel/air ratio might be off? Keep up the great work and all the best for the whole family!
I must say, even with the rain, nature on your domain is spectacular. I loved the morning shots, in addition to the always great aerial shots. And it's not Bob's fault. It really performs extraordinary well given the circumstances!
I have worked full time as a mini excavator driver, just use a slegdehammer and tap the tensioner wheel inwards, no need to use a strap. It doesnt damage anything. Do it without the track on and it works real easy.
You are getting there. It will be a great improvement for the barns and for you working, storing things in them . Well worth the long tedious job , especially as you get a dam out of it as well. Best wishes.
My vote would be to terrace and inter-plant with fruit trees and bushes... and maybe some naturalising bulbs for added colour :-) You could even run some of the less vigorous clematis species/varieties up into the trees for added seasonal colour. Even annual climbers can work well.
I was impressed with the photography of the dumper driving towards the camera and then having the camera set up to watch you drive away. I would never have thought to do that if I were videoing my work. I would’ve set it up off to the side, but your way is much more clever and interesting. 😊👍 You’ve been working on that hill for quite a while and yet it seems like you’re making wonderful progress. Here’s hoping you can beat the rain and get the hill directly behind the barns 31:36 taken care of before winter moves in!🤞

Your tenacity and determination is awesome. I am amazed at how you cheerfully accept and conquer new challenges. I wish you every success going forward even when you still scare me half to death going over the dam!
Philippe, I do love how polite and mannerly you are at all times "chickens please" (no Im not mocking you, Im being serious) It's incredible how fast the rain water built up over night, it's almost as if you live up here in Scotland but at least you know your pond will have plenty of supply. Thank you Anicia for taking the time to explain things, I had wondered about the possibility of a 45 degree slope both for aesthetics and safety cos kids will explore and even a 3-4 feet fall can hurt a child. Quite the milestone now that you have dug out the length of the new barn addition, so it certainly won't be long until you are onto the final grading away from the building then moving to the side of the old barn to dig the pass through Wonderful video this week folks (apart from the rain) stay safe, see you all next week
Hello Family 😊 I just love your dog and especially those chickens always following your every move, I really enjoyed watching your family journey ❤ 🙏 God bless 😊 your beautiful baby boy 🙏❤

Digging in the mud with water and sand - used to do this near the sea in Norfolk when I was very young, great fun😁. It’s a real faff for you - something you could do without. Didn’t realise it rained so much in your ‘neck of the woods!’ It’s all going well and a good end result, knowing you, will happen. Lovely shots of Odin and Mum. Regards, Phil 🇬🇧
Bon chantier

You're our FAVORITE podcast! Greetings from Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. *Don't tell my husband, but I get up early to watch your progress (& sweet lil Odin growing...*laughing)
We LOVE his genuine laughter! It tugs on our heartstrings and makes us giggle...and smile. Literally, our cheeks ache from hearing him so delighted!!!
Live stream?!?!? We check daily, FYI. ***NO PRESSURE!!!!!!! 🤸🏼🤸🏼♂️🤸🏼♀️🌈🌻
BEST WISHES
Hey Tammy, i will do one in the future! Now we are busy and i don't have the time to set it up. If you have notifications on you will see when we are live.
So you watch twice? Once by yourself and once with your husband? 😅
@@DomaineSauvage I sure do! Just did it again today!! 🤭
I was happy to learn about the grease moving the track holders ! Good explanations ! And wonderful to see that mountain of dirt finally disappearing ! 🎉. Also loved the scenery shots.
Cette terre semble être une très bonne terre d argile rouge pour la céramique ❤❤❤ bon courage à vous car ce n est vraiment pas facile de travailler dans de telles conditions 👏💪💪
Merci Christel!
Your resilience to every day hardships is impressive! Had to chuckle when Philippe told the chickens “aller”, they apparently understand French. 😂
I love watching your videos! I am cheering you on.
Alicia stays very busy with the videos and Oden.😅. He is such a sweet little boy but growing very fast.
Please be careful on the dam you are building. It’s scary to watch! lol
Your tenacity and determination is awesome. I am amazed at how you cheerfully accept and conquer new challenges. I wish you every success going forward even when you still scare me half to death going over the dam!
Philippe, I do love how polite and mannerly you are at all times "chickens please" (no Im not mocking you, Im being serious)
It's incredible how fast the rain water built up over night, it's almost as if you live up here in Scotland but at least you know your pond will have plenty of supply.
Thank you Anicia for taking the time to explain things, I had wondered about the possibility of a 45 degree slope both for aesthetics and safety cos kids will explore and even a 3-4 feet fall can hurt a child.
Quite the milestone now that you have dug out the length of the new barn addition, so it certainly won't be long until you are onto the final grading away from the building then moving to the side of the old barn to dig the pass through
Wonderful video this week folks (apart from the rain) stay safe, see you all next week
The weather has not bin on your side but you have kept going on and now there’s light at the end of the tunnel good man 👍
🇺🇸Just found your channel and subscribed. I watched your 1st year video. I love your incredible drive and energy! Plus, Odin is such a charmer!
Hello Family 😊 I just love your dog and especially those chickens always following your every move, I really enjoyed watching your family journey ❤ 🙏 God bless 😊 your beautiful baby boy 🙏❤
Mon flair me dit que vous aurez, très prochainement, une belle collection de sangliers et lapins en tous genres sur la mémoire de votre caméra.
A savage digger dumper combo , thanks for the update on the slope concerns.
Rain has made the joke of laser levelling
Thanks for sharing your story guys I am following you from Belgium and wishing you all the best on your journey to accomplish your dreams 😊❤ what a remarkable achievement…..well done !!!
Thx Petra!
Bravo!
😀
Nice ODIN, you grow so fast.. Thanks for the new video ..
Digging in the mud with water and sand - used to do this near the sea in Norfolk when I was very young, great fun😁. It’s a real faff for you - something you could do without. Didn’t realise it rained so much in your ‘neck of the woods!’
It’s all going well and a good end result, knowing you, will happen. Lovely shots of Odin and Mum. Regards, Phil 🇬🇧
Well done on the editing! Must be such a nice archive of your life to have.
Thx Vincent, i will relay it to Anicia and yes this will be a great memory for us and our children in the future!
Bon chantier
Terrace the excavation and plant fruit trees intermingled with companion cover plantings? Hemp will stabilize a hillside till the trees take root.
When it is terraced we indeed have more creativity with what we plant!
Odin is sooo cute.❤
your vlogs and 🎶 🎵 music is beautiful.
that "new skill acquired" was funny.🎉
i'm so afraid 😨 you're going to get stuck in the excavation site.😮
Sometimes i get stuck, but then we get it unstuck 😅We will get there, a bit slower with the weather now but it will sometime be done!
