If anyone's trying with the Lotus Biscoff for the crust, no need to add sugar or salt! Just melted butter will do. Biscoff is quite dense & flavourful in terms of texture & taste anyway! Great recipe btw ❤️

This was my husband's very favorite pie. I made it on special occasions. That's when I learned how to make the caramelized milk from sweetened condensed milk. (Didn't use toffee chips -- which are a great idea!) Thanks for this happy memory.

Have you ever made a Pavlova? If you have I suggest making one using the Banoffee flavor profile. It's SO good!! I didn't use toffee in mine either but my homemade caramel sauce was a great replacement. My meringue came out so stable that I was able to put down 2 layers of each ingredient. It was massive but oh so yummy... 😋

@@neavesarah1066 are you southern? I'm also from the UK but we say bah-noff-ee as I'm northern. I think its dependant on which area you live in, there's a variety of regional accents so misprounciation happens all the time 😂 I'm interested to hear how a Scouser vs a Yorkshireman would say it, or a Londoner vs a Scot, or a Jordie vs and Irishman. That could be very fun.

This is one of my fav pies! I prefer to use chocolate cookie crust and cocoa powder for dusting on the top. I also add way more dulce de leche than that, but only on the bottom. Not as many bananas and no toffee chips. And I smooth out my whipped cream on top too. So delicious! Mine slices beautifully.

It’s a British American-style dessert with a name that we’d guess Americans would come up with. The original creators were adamant this pie should be made with sweet pastry, but you rarely find it like that, it’s almost always made with a digestive biscuit crust.

But I found that if you can get hold of soft chewy toffee/caramel a brand called Werther's original. Toss them on the microwave or a Bain Marie just to melt put some cream in so it doesn't go hard again after cooling..bum got your self's a caramel sauce it's amazing specially in a banoffe pie😆😆

This is so weird to me. As a Brit, I’d always assumed banoffee pie was from the US!

I don't make this very often, not being a banana fan, but the best all around biscuit is ginger, in the UK you would use one called GIngernut, it's just a simple crunchy ginger biscuit. I suppose you could just add a little ginger to a digestive/ Grahamcracker base ;-).

I love making mine with McVitties plain digestive biscuits but I adore biscoff lotus biscuits so I'll have to give them a try next time I get to make a banoffee pie
Edit: also forgot to mention your banoffee pie looks amazinggggg

Instead of making pie crust i use a fresh swiss roll cut into thin slices and lightly layer the pie dish with that..delicious!!!

Part of the evening routine for putting my 3 year old to bed is "daddy let's watch baking video of that funny guy we like". Thanks so much. We look forward to this part of the evening picking out a recipe together purely based on the thumbnail.
