True, but I'd think that a freaking game built into a popcorn machine that was in one country would be _pretty_ obscure, but being referenced in a huge upcoming game would at least knock it from the "Most Obscure Ever" spot (assuming it was ever there in the first place).
The cop thing was new to me. There was an odd sort of continuity in the off panel for the archie comics (RIP) about sonic being a cop. I had no idea that is what they were referencing.

I'm not actually sure if the music was Sonic or not. I have not seen this in any other arcade anywhere. If this counts, I think I just found the most obscure Sonic game.
I remember seeing one of those in an arcade in Adelaide, Australia. Sonic Spinball, I think it was called... I remember it also spoke random Sonic quotes from time to time.
Sonic Spinball is a completely different game. There are two games like this "Sonic Spinner" was mostly found in Chuck E. Cheese's, and another one "Sonic and Tails Spinner" was found in other places.
Holy cow, I remember going to Sega World when my family went to Sydney on holiday from Melbourne (a different Australian city). I think I was too young and too tired to attend the Sonic Live event. I remember only 2 things from the experience: 1: In the entryway there were statues of Sonic, Tails, Princess Sally and the Bug guy, who I at the time assumed was a Sonic character from the 1990s Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog show, a staple of my T.V. watching at that age. 2: There was a hole in the wall styled after a guillotine where an image of a blade would come down and a spooky sound would play, "decapitating" you. I was too scared to try it, despite my parents' urging! Also of note, the T.V. presenter at the end is quite famous in Australia and his name is seriously "Ernie Dingo", like something out of that somewhat-insensitive Simpsons episode.

When I was in Secondary School in Scotland we had a typing practice game that featured Sonic. He would get faster the better you typed while Robotnik tried to catch up to him if I remember right. When you made a mistake he slowed down. Fairly obscure and technically not a Sonic title it's still wierd to see him in that game of all things. Can't find the game, have no idea what it's called. But it was in Scotland so the UK...must exist somewhere.
Abraham Pancake Mash same bro. That's actually how I got introduced to sonic and his... good games. I actually found my leapster and that game and... it's not good.
I think the most obscure Sonic games are the games made for mobile phones; I think Amy was the main character in one of them. When I say mobile phones I don't mean smart phones, I mean the phones that flipped open. Y'know? Also, there was a port of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Blackberry Torch that I don't think anyone in this world besides me knows about. It had a very interesting mix of Emerald Hill Zone's theme that I wish I could listen too again. Please, does anyone else know of this port?
i know of these games. Amy's American Page One, the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game, Sonic Jump (the original), Dr. Eggman's Number Guess Panic, etc. Though these games are pretty obscure, i'd hardly say they're the most obscure games by any means.
I see a mention of it on the Sonic News Network, thank you. I just wish there was someone who ripped the Emerald Hill track because it's quite an interesting mix of the stage music.
"whats this video about again" honestly that was golden. i was so interested in the derail you took me out of it with that which i didn't even realize i had entered... honestly i love the chaotic energy in that, it was fun listening to you ramble more off topic deeper into the rabbit hole.
I’ve actually seen the spaceship game before. I was really young and my brother and I was at this mall. I remember that the machine would also move up and down. I thought that it was pretty cool. I think that they still have the machine, but I can’t confirm it. The mall is IMM, and it is in Singapore.
Pocket Adventure was awesome, basically Sonic 2 with 3&K music and final boss, but it added tons of replay value by having collectible puzzle pieces hidden all over the levels. It forces you to slow down and explore and make some difficult jumps to collect them all, wish they'd added this to the mobile port.
4:21 Oh yeah I remember playing that game when I was like 7. The leapster was basically a portable console made for young kids to teach them math and letters and such. It came with a touch screen and stylus pen attached to a string and was pretty bulky. I thought the sonic game was kinda neat, but I felt I was a little old for it since it mostly just made you do simple addition math which I had already learned. It was also a stark contrast to Sonic Advance 2, which I had also played at the time, and I couldn't figure out why they felt so different to play.
The Leapster was freaking awesome, I loved the Go Diego Go game, and the Pixar Cars game. Whenever the Leapster crashed though, it would make this horrible noise that always scared the shit out of me when it happened. I remember when they upgraded from the Leapster to the LeapPad. That thing had so so many memories for me. I wish I still had mine nowadays, but it broke.

Here's a extremely obscure Sonic Game. This is a weird Sonic game for the MS-DOS. The person who found this downloaded this back at 2004 at an internet café, and he made a video of it with a download link in the description. Here's the video: m.th-cam.com/video/7fswGUoYaAE/w-d-xo.html EDIT: Wow! I didn't expect 50 likes! Also, Yes I know it's UNOFFICIAL!!!
2:17 wait, that's MasterSystem? tthose graphics with a better level design would have allowed for a kickass sonic version, with that cool mini parralax scrolling and all :O
wait, wait, wait. i found that there was a compilation game thing with Sonic 3, Sonic & knuckles and Sonic 3 and knuckles. WITH some generic Garfield game or something... which... in itself is weird, but was there a Sonic and Garfield cereal?! or did the game come with cereal?! i am perplexed about all of this!
I'm pretty sure I had the Sonic & Garfield pack as a kid, so it may be still laying around somewhere. That link confirms that it included: Sonic 3 Sonic & Knuckles Sonic 3 & Knuckles Garfield: Caught in the Act Baku Baku Animal I remember having all of those games bundled together on a disc so I must've had it I also remember Baku Baku Animal would never work and always crashed Maybe i'll look for the disc but this was back around like, 2005, when my dad got a ton of Genesis games for me on the computer.
God, watching that Sega World crumble hurts my soul. Sonic was one of my favorite franchises when I was a kid, I would have killed to go to a Sega-themed tourist attraction. Damn Australians didn't know what they had. Then again, that puppet of Princess Sally is pretty terrifying, so maybe that scared away attendees.

Hey Cybershell, just wanted to say that i remember playing Sonic Waku Waku Patrol Car as a kid!! The weird thing is that i’m actually italian not japanese lol, basically i remember that me and my mom used to go to this mall where they used to sell house forniture and stuff. As soon as you entered the store you would see this car looking arcade all with japanese writing and a sonic with a police man outfit on, and i remember LITERALLY every time i used to go to that store i ran to the arcade and play it. It still bugs me to this day like how in the world did a japanese only arcade managed to arrive in sicily??? i’d love to like investigate further but unfortunately the store closed a really long time ago (i’m not kidding if i had the possibility i’d literally buy the arcade) Also i don’t really have any proof to support this story, besides my mom’s confirmation lol but i remember it very vividly, one of my favourite memories ever.
I've seen my fair share of "obscure" Sonic games (including SegaSonic Bros and the popcorn game) and I think I've briefly heard about the Sydney show, but I've never heard of Sonic Extreme or Sonic X. That was an interesting discovery for sure.
Ah, one no one ever talks about is Sonic Classic Collection for the DS it's just Sonic 1, 2, 3, &Knuckles, plus all of those with the &Knuckles version
i recall reading an article about it on a club nintendo magazine alongside the portable version of sonic all stars racing. i'm not sure if it was a wiiware title, a Dsiware title or a physical release for all versions of the DS.
I never got to go to Sega World Sydney, but my mum went on holiday and stopped by and brought me back a poseable Sonic figure. It's my most treasured item.
Definitely think it's the arcade Japan-only titles that are the most obscure. Sega Sonic Cosmo Fighter in particular I've almost never seen anybody talk about and all the videos on youtube for it have very little views.
There was a Sonic N cameo in one of my highschool textbooks. There was a picture of it along with a math problem about video games or something. I thought it was the funniest shit back then for some reason, I think I have a photo of it
I think i found it, CR Sonic. It’s an arcade pachinko game that runs off of the Dreamcast hardware. It was only released in Japan and has you going through levels mainly from SA2. It could technically not be considered a video game but it is interactive with a screen so it counts.
I still can't get over how there's actually a Sonic character named Cucky. *Cucky.* More over, Shadow, Blaze *& Knuckles.* I now have a new favorite Sonic character. But to me the most obscure Sonic game would be Sonic Battle. I remember playing it for the GBA, but I barely remember it other than the fact it had Shadow, and rarely anyone talks about it.
Yeah, but Sonic Battle influences the canon of Sonic Advance 3, a game in a series people really like, so surely the Advance fans know about Sonic Battle!
oh yeah, i remember that game. It was like a... weird 3D brawler except not really 3D. also there was a robot dude you could play as and it would learn different attacks from other characters and then you could customize your moves accordingly. I really liked it actually. Also there was story happening which somehow tied to the Sonic Advance games iirc?
For me Sonic Pinball Party is the most obscure "true" Sonic. Otherwise, I can code a (horrible) Sonic game, get drunk so I forget I made it, and voila: game so obscure, zero people know about it.
I remember I played some years ago a Sonic Dash arcade game which basically consisted in a short run where you had to collect tickets instead of rings.
4:19 I had a Leapster when I was a kid. I actually had the Sonic X game back then, and believe it or not, that was my first Sonic game. All I remember about it is the opening cutscene which I watched a bunch of times. It's really low quality but back then I thought it was cool. Had Chris Thorndyke from the anime as the narrator. But yeah it wasn't until my parents bought me a Nintendo DS that I finally got to play a real Sonic game (Sonic Rush Adventure, which I still think is really good tbh).
I remember going to a sonic world as a kid on vacation in Dubai. It had a huge arcade with sonic stuff.!It had a whole soft play area with a animal capsule thing from the games. It was mainly designed with sonic colours themes. Also it had a shenmue area for adults or something from segas mature library
I went to Sega World Sydney as a kid and there was a Sonic puppetshow running. I starting watching it but I had never played the games so I thought I wouldn't get it and walked away. If only I could have seen Cybershell's videos to appreciate it.
I feel like omochao must've been the one asking the questions, as if quizzing the player on all of the worthless obvious trivia they regurguitate 24/7.
You forgot Sonic Unleashed for old phones, i remember playing that so much!!! Also there i heard the Day time Savannah Citadel theme, because it wasnt on the PS2 version lol

I should not have laughed as hard as I did at 11:30

I’ve actually seen the spaceship game before. I was really young and my brother and I was at this mall. I remember that the machine would also move up and down. I thought that it was pretty cool.
I think that they still have the machine, but I can’t confirm it. The mall is IMM, and it is in Singapore.
What about Sonic Crackers? It was an early version of Knuckles Chaotix except it had Sonic and Tails.
Everyone knows about that
Sonic Cuckers
Sonic and Tails eat crackers
@Danny Bright I know someone already said it, but sonic crackers doesn’t count because it’s just an early prototype of knuckles’ chaotix.
Bro literally millions of people know that
Is it sad I actually owned a leapster as a kid?
skinny penis I did too.
skinny penis No. Leapsters are a sign of pride.
I owned a Leapster 2, I'm not a peasant like you.
I owned 2 different models
Yup.

Dude impressive work! There where several titles I wasn't even aware of whether or not they should be considered "games" aside.
Oh, hey, honored to have my Sonic Fighters arcade cabinet featured in the video 😁
Do you keep it for collection/preservation reasons, or do you actually play it occasionally?
@@BinglesP At this point just for collection. Haven't played it in about two years
@ThatGuyWithGlasses Did you see the tourney that happened last Friday? On January 8th.
I've seen a SC machine on location. It was at the ice rink in the Palisades Center (a mall in West Nyack, NY.)
How about the Sonic games accompanying McDonalds meals about 10 years ago?
Woah, those sound interesting, tell me more!
Man my parents mustave thought i was wierd for wanting all of them
DreamOfTheRebel: *Those were the best!*
They were basically Game 'n' Watches but with sonic games. I had one when I was about 4 that was a fishing game with Big the Cat.

I'd go with my Aussie friend Demi. I met her in 2017 at Warner Bros. Movie World.
Here's a extremely obscure Sonic Game. This is a weird Sonic game for the MS-DOS. The person who found this downloaded this back at 2004 at an internet café, and he made a video of it with a download link in the description. Here's the video: m.th-cam.com/video/7fswGUoYaAE/w-d-xo.html
EDIT: Wow! I didn't expect 50 likes! Also, Yes I know it's UNOFFICIAL!!!
That IS a weird one, I don't think I've ever seen it before
I bet it's fanmade.
it's fanmade. You can tell by the fact Sonic literally goes Satan mode.
lol, is this in catalan?
Fangames don't count.
Thanks for bringing up Sega world, I got to experience the live show as a kid, it was amazing.
2:17 wait, that's MasterSystem?
tthose graphics with a better level design would have allowed for a kickass sonic version, with that cool mini parralax scrolling and all :O
The most obscure was Sonic & Garfield (Don't mind, it's just a cereal)
wait, wait, wait.
i found that there was a compilation game thing with Sonic 3, Sonic & knuckles and Sonic 3 and knuckles. WITH some generic Garfield game or something... which... in itself is weird, but was there a Sonic and Garfield cereal?! or did the game come with cereal?! i am perplexed about all of this!
its SONIC AND KNUCKLES COLLECTION , on the pc, it had midi renditions of its music, its quite a horrible port
it is called "Sonic & Garfield pack" segaretro.org/Sonic_%26_Garfield_Pack
I'm pretty sure I had the Sonic & Garfield pack as a kid, so it may be still laying around somewhere. That link confirms that it included:
Sonic 3
Sonic & Knuckles
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Garfield: Caught in the Act
Baku Baku Animal
I remember having all of those games bundled together on a disc so I must've had it
I also remember Baku Baku Animal would never work and always crashed
Maybe i'll look for the disc but this was back around like, 2005, when my dad got a ton of Genesis games for me on the computer.
Garfield:Caught In the Act is a fucking masterpiece.
As an Australian myself born after the park’s closure, I so wish it still existed
@@thetreyceratops I'm so sorry for your loss. Not because of Sega World, but because you poor bastards are stuck with vegemite.

It still bugs me to this day like how in the world did a japanese only arcade managed to arrive in sicily??? i’d love to like investigate further but unfortunately the store closed a really long time ago (i’m not kidding if i had the possibility i’d literally buy the arcade)
Also i don’t really have any proof to support this story, besides my mom’s confirmation lol but i remember it very vividly, one of my favourite memories ever.
why would sonic need a cartwheel or a snowboard if he is fast as shit already to run it himself?
Icằŗūs Kūŗøı its because he's supposed to be rad amirite

I've seen my fair share of "obscure" Sonic games (including SegaSonic Bros and the popcorn game) and I think I've briefly heard about the Sydney show, but I've never heard of Sonic Extreme or Sonic X. That was an interesting discovery for sure.
Ah, one no one ever talks about is Sonic Classic Collection for the DS it's just Sonic 1, 2, 3, &Knuckles, plus all of those with the &Knuckles version
I remember that game i played it
i recall reading an article about it on a club nintendo magazine alongside the portable version of sonic all stars racing. i'm not sure if it was a wiiware title, a Dsiware title or a physical release for all versions of the DS.
I never got to go to Sega World Sydney, but my mum went on holiday and stopped by and brought me back a poseable Sonic figure. It's my most treasured item.
2:45
Cybershell: Deserve an video
Peter Knetter: agreed

Definitely think it's the arcade Japan-only titles that are the most obscure. Sega Sonic Cosmo Fighter in particular I've almost never seen anybody talk about and all the videos on youtube for it have very little views.
There was a Sonic N cameo in one of my highschool textbooks. There was a picture of it along with a math problem about video games or something. I thought it was the funniest shit back then for some reason, I think I have a photo of it
Sonic is the most obscure Mario character.
don't forget that Mario is owned by Capcom who made such classics like The Legend of Zelda starring Pikachu and Metal Gear Solid.
Cranky Kong is my favorite Mega Man character
my favorite pac-man character is alex kid
My favorite video game character is Pong paddle.
Y'all be joking around but don't even know that Sonic is the main character of Super Mario Galaxy 3
Sonic 06 ☹️
Sonic 16 ☺️
and you will NOT Believe what game came out in the Sonic 26 anniversary.
*Cucky.*
More over, Shadow, Blaze *& Knuckles.* I now have a new favorite Sonic character.
Linneus also both of those games are terrible
oh yeah, i remember that game.
It was like a... weird 3D brawler except not really 3D.
also there was a robot dude you could play as and it would learn different attacks from other characters and then you could customize your moves accordingly. I really liked it actually. Also there was story happening which somehow tied to the Sonic Advance games iirc?
Yeah, that's why Sonic '06 is the most obscure game, right? ¬_¬
"Cucky" had me rolling
I remember Sonic Battle actually being kinda fun. It's a shame no one really talks about it.
For me Sonic Pinball Party is the most obscure "true" Sonic.
Otherwise, I can code a (horrible) Sonic game, get drunk so I forget I made it, and voila: game so obscure, zero people know about it.
Please follow this up with a video titled "the strangest sonic game" and tell us more about these creepy sonic games.
"computer game heaven"
Its been a long time since I've heard someone call a video game a: computer game

Could this have partially inspired Baldi's Basics? They look eerily similar
A lot of education games looked like that, but I think that it inspired the graphics the most out of all of them.
for the last time, baldis basics started off as a spoof of 90's edutainment games as said by the developer himself
quaker 47 well yeah, obviously. I meant maybe that specific educational game inspired it more than others.
I remember I played some years ago a Sonic Dash arcade game which basically consisted in a short run where you had to collect tickets instead of rings.
At first I was like “holy shit a new video!” When this came up in my recommendations, then I was the date.
"I;m thinking about thos Beans"
It blew my fucking mind realizing that the Segasonic Popcorn Shop got referenced in Sonic Mania like dang
Was waiting for you to mention the sonic handheld mini games that were given as toys with mcdonalds happy meals
I actually had a leapster. the original one
The last thing I expected when watching a Cybershell video was to get a sudden nostalgia trip from the mention of an old sonic game on leapster
How did we go from obscure Sonic games to puppet shows?
9:33 THATS NEW ZEALAND
That's CLEARLY Japan.

Exactly, there are two islands in Japan, therefore making it Japan.

That one from Chuck 'E Cheese
which one?
Nathan Boehm The wheel of chance one.

4:40. At age 6 I was playing the sonic classic collection on my ds

"You may not have noticed it, but your brain did."
I love me a good Mr.Plinkett reference.
So the sonic lore goes deeper...
*New Zealand Appreciates you acknowledging us.*
The kids who saw the huge sonic suit at 11:11 must have gone on to play the games thinking sonic was way bigger than he was and robotnik was like 8’5
was the sonic popcorn good?
Benjamin McLean Now we're asking the real questions
It's the popcorn machine reference in Studiopolis!
I went to Sega World Sydney as a kid and there was a Sonic puppetshow running. I starting watching it but I had never played the games so I thought I wouldn't get it and walked away. If only I could have seen Cybershell's videos to appreciate it.
I played the Japanese game brain game it was kinda easy with questions like how does sonic go super? U know sonic questions
