    pcv failure is a very common problem on BMW N63 engines causing misfire, high fuel consumption, smoke coming from the tailpipes and high oil consumption.
    wiring problem
    low fuel pressure
    injector failure
    sensor failure
    timing incorrect
    defective or broken engine
    bad shifting solenoids
    low transmissions oil pressure
    transmission oil leaks
    transmission sensor problems
    etc,...

    Thank you…Very thorough presentation! I would bet the dealer would recommend replacing all three components, rather than find out specifically which component is the culprit.

      fixing the car the first time is better than playing a game of trial and error with customers cars, that is understandable. but i agree there is easily room for improvement on their end.

    I appreciate the education. I recently payed nearly $800 for a simple oil change at the dealership. Your explanation of the issues with the N63 really shows me how BMW stealerships are getting over on the customers.

    Thank you So much. You have explained everything more than anyone has. They have recalls on bmw PCV problems. Will this cause a sluggish problem, whistle to screeching sound? & A sluggish gear change feeling?

    Got a smokeu bmw n63 2011 650 Wondering that smoking at idle and as soon as I rev it lots of white smoke and also oil consumption.. how can I know if it's oil rings, valve stem seals, turbo,or pcv, or pcv down pipe to inlet manifold or manifold leak, ???? And can you use the updated pcv that does not connect to rhe inlet manifold

    Hello Francisco, I change the both pcv valve on my 2011 X5 50i 4.4, and after that the engine start making a squeling noise. Any idea of that? I was thinking maybe the new ones valves are defective.

    Hi, Francisco, I have a 2016 X5M, was getting a powertrain power loss code, injector #2 being shut off. When going into scan tool and checking, it shows history right away and not active. I reset it, good for a bit, then goes into power loss mode again. Have changed the coils and plugs. Ran good for a while, maybe because it was cold and not quite hot under the hood. Also lots of smoke coming from the passenger side as well. Using quite a bit of oil. The plugs I took out were fouled and also a bit on the loose side. Didn't take much effort to remove them. I have replaced the ccv piping on it. The power loss comes on more often after running for a while, like 30 minutes of driving, and will keep going into power loss mode. Any ideas? Thanks

    Hi, if PCV jest good, oil cup is vacuum, when pcv is bad behing oil cap there wiill no vacuum and engine burning oil. Check oil cap on running engine

    Hi ,I have 2011 BMW X6M
    And I was getting low oil level on I drive top up couple times still coming up I have zero smoke from the exhust and no oil underneath the car
    My mechanich said I have to replace valve seals and all PCV valve and Turbo return lines ,
    Like seriously how could all these go bad all at once
    I want to skip the valve seals may be just do the PCV and turbo return pipes
    Please nay advise would be appreciated

    After the crank case tubes/pcv valve tubes were installed on My N63 engine I am getting a chirping sound that gets louder when the engine is turned off. I did not replace the 2 orange seals that see on the bottom of the air box that you did in your video. Do you think those seals can be the problem of the chirping sound

    I have 550i 2011, oil level comes down 1ltr approximately every 3000 km ... there is no smoke from exhaust... the car is well maintained...
    i am suspecting some leak somewhere... down the care i didnt see any leak ..

      Spec is up to 1L per 750mi in the turbo. Add oil as required.

      If you only replace pipes smoke will continue. Oil is coming from oil separators under valve covers, you need to replace them

      Only when the engine is already taken off. With engine in place it is almost impossible to get to nuts that holds intake manifold to cylinder head

      Valve stem seals are in the motor block bro u have to take out the whole motor to replace then

    Do you recommend installing oil catch cans on this engine after replacing PCV valves? Will that help reduce the tailpipe smoke?

    Great vid, i have a question...i have a 2013 BMW M6 f-12 just did catless downpipes from rktunes and i did the tune they sell.....i had to do the rear o2 sensor delete. The car seems to run great...but now has a smell from the exhaust ( expected with the tune ) but also i see a cloud of white-ish smoke coming from exhaust when i take off from a stop ( never noticed it before ). Any advice or start with pcv valves and work from there ?

      Ok, so the car does have 79,500 miles on it. I took it to two different places and i am bringing it in for a valve guide seal job. The smoke is progressively getting worse…they tell me the turbo’s and pcv valves are ok.
      Goes in this monday to get done, i will let you know if it fixes it

      I have a 2020 m550i 48k and had the Rk tunes front mounts and vrsf catless down pipes installed. Running Bm3 stg 2 93 ots. . Just noticed some smoke at idle 🤦🏽‍♂️ . How did your car end up ?

      @@venomyzf1977 i ended up having the valve guide seals replaced…stopped the smoke and a lot of the excessive consumption…now i only add oil every 1000 miles compared to the 300 i was adding a qt

    I've already replaced the PCV on both sides, but only the top ones and there's not much improvement. There is no smoking only when adding gas at a standstill. Oil burning didn't improve, maybe a little. I don't know what to do with it? Maybe you can advise me?

      At this point after replacing the Pcv it may be valve stem seals I just got hit with this nightmare of the valve stem seals 10k in repairs from dealer.

      No. Bang v BMW is a class action lawsuit where BMW will cover valve stem seals. They did mine $0 under this class action.

    2008 n62 4.8l car st idle is rough feels like it’s going to stall. Codes say combustion cylinder 8 misfire other misfires. I changed the plugs and the coils I changed in may when I bought the car. They are fine still. I changed the pcv hose from intake. O2 bank 2 sensor before the plugs and pcv cause I had a code for that one no voltage. I changed that then code for throttle bottle sensor. That code went to catalytic converter low threshold. Then misfire so that’s why I did the plugs now. Car still misfires at idle. When I drove it to see power was really bad then good then bad. Came home. Today switched the coils one side to the opposite I seen your other video to do that. Still misfires from cylinder 8. Any suggestions what to try now !? I’m in New Jersey btw don’t know if your around this area. Thanks for your time and thanks for the awesome explanation of all your work. Your a good man ! God bless you

      Oil consumption/smoke/ car idling terrible and drive terrible
      Low power warning/ English malfunction warning
      Every-time I change the spark plug in cylinder 8 it blows in 2/3 weeks .
      The fucking dealer wants to charge me 1800 to diagnose

      At the very least You would have an opening in the valve cover that accepts the other end of the hose definitely causing some issues

      Both side PCV Valve come as an assembly with a hose connecting the two sides.. this assembly is $340.00 USD
      Then there is another hose “connection hose” that connects to passenger side valve cover to the other side valve
      Connection hose $140.00 USD

      Then each side valve cover has an
      “oil separator” internal to each valve cover. This also comes as a set which DOES include EACH SIDE valve cover gaskets and internal oil separators.
      $150.00 for the complete set.
      Then it is roughy $675.00 with tax for oil separator complete kit with PCV BOTH SIDES and connection hose and will take you roughly 15-20 hours if you have all the tools and do both sides. If changing internal oil separators
      Fan cowl has to come out. Ignition coils. Spark plugs. . Intercoolers need to be separated from engine not removed completely but all fuel injectors need to come out and be resealed with teflon rings AND new decoupling elements but if over 50-75k miles replace all injectors. Another 90$ each for the EU6 variant which is perfectly fine to use for 2013 BMW 750Li XDrive and do NOT need to input injector values to the module. If you get EU5 injectors you will need a scan tool roughy $300-400 for a foxwell scan tool (I recommend) that will work fine to input the 8 injector values. Be sure to write down ALL NUMBER FROM EACH INJECTOR. NEW AND OLD IF USING EU5 verison fuel injectors.
      Just use the Eu6 versions high pressure fuel injectors. Also dont forget the high pressure fuel pump gasket each side. I did not need to loosen or remove any coolant hoses. Have enough room to just move everything aside. But if anything is leaking or loose or faulty now is the time to replace it. All 8 injectors come new with teflon seals new on them but need 8 decoupling elements. Roughly 10$ each.
      So $850 total roughy for all injectors if you do yourself. Also spend the $300 for the fuel injector removal and installer master tool kit or 50$ for the single tool version on amazon.
      Fuel injector removal/ installer tool
      Total for entire oil separator system

    I had a strange case f02 750Li, engine have new valve seals, new timming, new injector new sparks and ignitions. I drive the car freely but something is smoking behind me (I think it is steam) but the engine was already at 90 degrees, I accelerate and I still see a little smoke then I drive freely and a cloud of bright blue smoke. After a while everything stopped and so far such a problem did not appear (at that moment I already thought that something broke, maybe turbines, maybe new sealants, maybe something broke?) but that would be all the time and it appeared for a while and stopped And I bet on PVC but PCV crankcase is only plastic pipe so what will do when I replace for new one ? maybe in those PCV are some valve ?

      If you replace only PCV pipes you change nothing actually. Because they are only pipes. You have to replace both oil separators located under valve covers

    Please check your PCV information. There is no PCV Valve, instead there is an Oil Separator in each Valve Cover, one on each bank; they fail. BMW quoted me $1800 per side to replace.

    It’s a shame BMW builds such unreliable junk. This is why they depreciate like bricks. No one wants to own one out of warranty.
