Oh, that's Joseph-97. Tough bastard he is. I've seen the reports, he's taken quite a bit of a beating in his service. Hell, every six months you see him go form warzone chic to fresh outta the armorer, he gets that banged up.
But hell if he ain't a good buddy, or fearless/stupid. Guy stood up into a sniper sightline, dropped a brute easy as you please. Ran through a position fulla Jackals, ate enough rounds to burn off half his chestplate and *still* kept rolling.

I actually like how similar this is to how in 4 some Spartan 4s will talk to Chief like "hey you saved me years ago, thanks". Kinda touches that new generation of spartans nicely
Maybe the Gen 4's might get a better showing this time around.
I blame the limited scope with what everyone thinks are just frat boys.
Going by lore or background information you find out 1 fire team managed to board and destroy a ship in minutes. Others did well in their objectives. I think the idea was more into trying build up how the SIVs are a mixed bag with them needing to go through some realization that the Spartan propaganda exists for a reason yet it shouldn't be taken at face value (they can die).
Really loving how this commander type spartan actually gets some kind of back story. An actual reason to fight instead of Palmer just being there. Huge hope for Halo's future.

Really good trailer tbh, having the perspective of a civilian watching Spartans drop in pods like angels from heaven to save the day and then going on to become a spartan herself, this gets me hyped for what's to come. I can feel the H2 and ODST vibes throughout the entirety of the video, hopefully those feelings don't stay on the trailer.

I've said it before, but I think a horror game where you are a civilian or a marine in this world would be amazing.
Even the comic relief, grunts are FIVE FEET TALL.
Imagine a 5 ft tall 180+ lb Oompa Loompa suicide bomber charging you with basic armor or none at all.

This is way better cutscene than the ones we've been getting for season 2. It's so much more atmospheric and thematic. The ones in season 2 are kind of dry and the faces look uncanny AF

I’ve always wanted to see a civilian point of view on the human-covenant war. This right here is what I remember the lore being, Spartans dropping from the heavens and becoming hope. And when that Spartan reached out with his hand…. Chills.

Multiplayer had some really good cutscenes for no reason. Sad they scrapped them now.
Cool how the civilian became inspired to become a Spartan.
Something I never thought about, that has so much possibility: the Bungie games are nearly a decade past in-lore at this point. Recruits in their young 20s entering the UNSC were still kids when Reach fell, when Earth was occupied. They weren’t even fully adults yet when humanity was nearly destroyed. They literally “grew up” with the events of the original games. Kind of crazy.
Maybe someday in the future the Halo timeline will get far enough along that younger Spartans were born after the war. The first generation in half a century not born into a losing war that seemed to promise humanity’s extinction. They would look back at the events of the Bungie games how we look back at the Gulf War or Vietnam or WW2. That’s such a wildly different perspective than any we’ve gotten form characters in Halo before. Could be really interesting to explore the difference in how post-war generations compare psychologically to people who grew up under the threat of imminent extinction. Having some younger soldiers making light of the war as people tend to do of past events, and then being put in their place by some grizzled old Marine sergeant who fought with the Chief on Earth, etc.

Yep. Like, to put it in perspective. A brute minor nearly killed the Chief in hand-to-hand combat. I think the ones in this trailer are the most lore accurate Brutes we've seen on screen. In terms of them fighting Spartans anyway.
Yeah. I get 343 wanted to give the audience a feeling like they're badass, but this is the better approach imo. We can be badass even if we're vulnerable. Overcoming firefights and picking ourselves back up is 100% badass.

I absolutely love this sudden shift in perspective. To see what it's like to be the defenseless person. It's astounding.
This is a beautiful trailer on many levels:
- The drill sergeant becomes relatable, and is a great conduit for the viewer, experienced Halo veterans and green rookies anew, showing how personal her respect and love for the SPARTANs are.
- The SPARTANs themselves are tough, but not invincible, mythical and yet human, warriors yet humble - they can get hurt, but the focus is to work as a team, to deliver hope.
- The music, pacing, atmosphere, worldbuilding is simple, without unneeded exposition, and shows without telling in a good way.
- This is how you show Halo for the younger, new generation, while at the same time respecting the older community.
Well I'm an old fan...Sad to say I'm not pleased.
It's also the worst representation for what Infinite MP actually is.

Really humanized the new commander in a few short seconds. She's not just some hardass that will talk down to the other spartans, but someone that believes in spartans as symbols of hope. Rrally liked this short character intro.

You don't see Spartans smile much when there helmets are off so it's pretty heart warming too see.
That's mostly because up until the Spartan IVs, most of them were emotionally stunted child soldiers.

@@KayJay01 The Spartan IIIs still were, I think the oldest of them when they were recruited were 10. The Spartan IVs were the first Spartans to be recruited from adult volunteers.
Someone else commented this so I can’t take credit but I like how we see an injured spartan at the end. It shows that our enemies aren’t to be taken lightly.
That spartan basically sat on a plasma grenade.
The amount of injuries Spartans received in the original trilogy books were extreme, especially the book first strike. They were constantly replacing armor parts and fighting with severe injuries, they were just so damn tough. They'd have Achilles tendon tears and wouldn't slow down, MJOLNIR also played a big part in keeping them together. Most of them had severe injuries quite often and had to receive medical treatment, their lives were that of pain.
@@JsphCrrll I thought as much too, but on rewatching, it's actually the blue spartan that offers the hand to her that is closest to the grenade so the blue visored spartan must of got injured in a different way

@@Andrew-px9fj I think its definitely more grounded than apex or similar but I agree, its not as gritty as blurs H2 scenes. My guess though is that its because this is all in engine, or at least in engine level visuals so that's very impressive imo. Its much better than H2A in engine for example.

Im loving the music. It has revived the atmosphere we all know and love and it sets the tone the emotion that it wants you to feel. Beyond grateful for the music alone everything else is a bonus!!!
Just coming back and rewatching this in 2023 to see how far the game has come. There’s been improvements in-game but the cutscenes I’m not so sure of despite how cool it is to see OUR Spartan in those scenes.
Also, for this cutscenes, these have to be Spartan-IIIs. The timeframe (if it’s during the prolonged Battle of Earth during H2-H3) is too early to be Spartan-IVs, and well I don’t see the UNSC wasting the limited Spartan-IIs they have on recon sweeps/clears on Earth (even though there is little to no difference in terms of skill between the S-IIs and S-IIIs). I like to believe these Spartans are sent down into cities and urban areas to completely rid them off Covie forces.
As for the armour being Mk. VII, well there was GEN1 Mk. VII Mjolnir, but we only have known it to be given to Naomi-010, but it’s not crazy to think some Spartan-III operatives and teams who survived the Battles of the Epsilon Eridani System (the system Reach was part of) to get this armour too.
Either way love this cutscene, and if it’s Spartan-IIIs that just makes it better for me personally as I love Spartan-III lore!
There absolutely is a difference in skill between the 2's and 3's. As skilled as the Spartan 3's are the 2's are still much better.

I thought that’s where this took place. The spartan saved the girl during the events of ODST and she later went on to become a spartan.

Sick how they’re making a backstory for new characters, hopefully better than Halo 5, where Osiris was hated because we literally knew nothing about them and why the became Spartans (except for Buck)
Yup, that one cutscene alone already tells you about this girl’s past. She also has something to do with the Halo 2 ilovebees ARG too, so that fills a lot of stuff in for her already.
Vale had a book of her own and Locke had a movie. I’m not so sure about Tanaka though. They still didn’t feel like lovable characters even with their backstories though so I agree.
well unless you read one of the books and comic that told the story of vale and tanaka and the short movie for locke tho not a lot of ppl like the movie nor did 343 really expect ppl to read any of the books or comics

We never really got to see a lot of what other major cities looked like in the Halo universe. I love how Big Ben is just a small little building compared to the massive constructs around it.
And it's nice to see some new faces that aren't immediately hated by the fans. Hopefully the game comes out soon and blows away the crowd.
While far from perfect, Halo Infinite is the closest to the true spirit of Halo we've had since Bungie's departure.

I always LOVED how the spartans are so chill when fighting the brutes, like at 1:20 where the spartan calmly shields the girl, and how it shows how confident and powerful they are in just their presence, how 4 soldiers can take on a small invasion force with only their armor and their assault rifle, its BEAUTIFUL!

My only problem with this is that it appears to take place during the Human Covenant war, but those Spartans were all Spartan 4s and warring the MK 7 armor.

Why I’ve always loved Halo was that it was never just about shooting aliens, it was about being a hero.

that's what i was thinking, after seeing new mombasa and african cities as the earth bastions, it's great to have an actual peak at other cities in the halo universe, that excited me the most about this trailer.
Huh, don't know how I didn't see that on stream. That means this is Earth (unless Big Ben has been relocated in Halo lore lmao) which means this cutscene HAS to be set in 2552+ (as the Covenant didn't know about Earth until the events of Halo 2).
That only leaves upto 8 years for this Agryna character to train to become a S-IV (an acting Commander training new recruits, nonetheless) from a civilian, probably less as I doubt the brutes ever actually attacked Earth post-schism. Realistically this has to be set between Halo 5 and Infinite, leaving only upto 3 years of training to become a S-IV. Has any character done that before, it seems a tad short to me? IIRC all the previous spartan 4's were part of the UNSC during the Human-Covenant war at some point, either as marines or ODSTs
Or is this not supposed to be Agryna in the flashbacks?

@@KayJay01 I feel like the kid is a stand in for her wrather than a literal past version of her, with the symbol shared between them tying together the idea of normal peopel being able to become Spartans and that at heart she beleives that their symbols of hope and all that
@@KayJay01 this was probably one of the forces in halo 2, since I doubt every covenant on earth was in Africa. but at the same time, this could be the banished, since we only see brutes, and there are like 5 other Spartans in the battle, which wouldn't have happened during 2. So it's possible that the multiplayer side of things takes place after the events of infinite's campaign, or the war with the banished has been going on long enough that she was able to age enough to become a spartan, and then go on to train other spartans. The timeline doesn't quite make a ton of sense though, unless the multiplayer timeline is separate from the campaign's and it takes place after infinite (her being a spartan after infinite I mean, not pre-spartan Agryna)

the core gameplay is super awesome, the only thing wrong with the game is the lack of content after a full year which is unacceptable.
This game is looking like its going to be such a redemption arc for 343 is honestly can't believe it.

I hate to be "that guy" but I highly doubt that the game is T-rated, with no coop or forge and no playable elites since halo reach. 343 are doing the same thing like what activation does to cod games these days, put more lore in mp then the campaign

It’s possible that due to the sheer amount of recently slain humans her scent got lost in the cluster and they didn’t notice a new one amongst the hundreds of bodies that are likely around them

And if this was lore accurate, 4 spartans would have completely fucked a small team of brutes. Judging by how young she was during the time I'd say those might've been spartan 3s. And everyone knows that the Spartan 3's have a huge murder boner for the covenant.
This makes me want a seasonal story mode where you plays as ya own Spartan similar to Spartan ops, that would be sick!!

@@austincraft5732 I want to say maybe during the covenant occupation of earth during the tiem chief was away dealing with regret and stuff. The other spartan-IIs were there defending it for a while before going to Onyx. But then why not have them in actual spartan-II armor? Makes no sense.

I hate how some people hate the nod the Spartan gives on "it's informal and they would never waste the time" Halo 5 had the most by-the-books military style dialogue and acting and that was so boring. It's nice to see some character in Spartans, even from something as small as a nod
