I do Flex all the time. It is as easy as you get. I get 3 to 5 hour blocks and finish 3 hour blocks in 2 hours, and 5 hour blocks in 3.5 hours. Where I do flex, I scan every package, number the package, and load by stop. Easy as can be.
Sorting by stop is absolutely necessary. Just like anything else, the more you do it, the better you get.

Organizing by stop is so slow man!! Sort by TBA number. They're always located near the regular barcode. They end in 0000's and you just section off your car to hold each thousands group. Example, in my car I put 1000 and 2000 in the front seat, 3000 4000 5000 in the back seat, 6 7 8 9000 in the trunk. There's probly 10 but I just put them in the 1's anyway. It's just whatever digit comes before the zeroes and you sort by that. You literally look at the numbers on the packages while loading your car. It's really that easy. No scanning or writing and risking itinerary switching up on you. And it's also helpful because the TBA number is located in the app as well, on each stop. That number never ever changes.

I did my first block yesterday. I learned this way from gig mom, to scan again to show the stop number. Then put them in order of the stop so I can grab it fast and easy. I did a 3 hour block at 84.00 with 22 packages. Got it done in about 1 hour and 45 min. Not bad at all! I highly recommend doing it this way.

One of my warehouses labels the packages by Letter, AAA, BBB, CCC, and DDD. I sort them by letter in the different locations in my car, i.e., A in front, B in back seat, and C&D in the rear. That way i only have to look through a few packages at each stop. The other warehouse actually numbers the packages from 1-whatever according to stop, but it pays less per hour.

Living less than a mile from the DCX2 warehouse helps me a lot when Flex is actually busy, i.e. in late November and early December, since in that case you can get clustered stops in just one location. It is, however, quite the challenge to get those packages properly organized without that search bar scanner - great to see that you’ve got that, because it helps tremendously.

@@YourDriverMike Yellow or pink, and rectangular. They’ll typically have 2 numbers on them, separated by a dash, where the number before the dash is the stop number and the number after the dash is the package number.
For example, “1-1” is Stop 1/Package 1; “1-2” is Stop 1/Package 2, “2-1” is Stop 2/Package 1, and so on. I’ve used this method to organize them before and it makes it possible to get them properly organized before even leaving the warehouse if you’re there early enough.

I deliver Flex and trust me I know all about delivering far away… And that Barcode hack is A LIFE SAVER unless they update your route otw to your first stop due to some package error while still at the warehouse. (Like torn open package being removed from your itinerary. This causes your route to update and the app then update the package stop order) I’ve had to pull over and renumber my packages three times in the past year of driving for Flex that’s also driving usually two 3-4.5 hour shifts per day 4-5 days a week. So I’m all honesty it is rare. I try to tell EVERY new driver at the warehouse (VNC3) about the Barcode trick. Love this channel Btw! You’re honest and give the facts

the search bar technique makes "organizing by stop" SUPER easy!
i deliver in Portland, Oregon and see 5 hour blocks regularly. base oay is $21 an hour, which i dont really take. I'm lucky enough to regularly see $23-$27/hr (even had a $40/hr route one time!)
i feel like Portland flex drivers are hyper aware of Amazon's practices so I'll see those $21/hr blocks sit in the offers section until 1 hour before the block then get gobbled up once the surge pay hits.
also, regarding the geopin issue, if you're at the screen that says you're out of the delivery circle, turn you mobile data off. this will prompt the app to ask you to change the pin. i've done this with locked gates in rural areas. just move the pin at the driveway entrance so the next driver can find the place.

That pay was horrible for all the possible hassles and expenses. I make more working security an hour and I'm not having to hustle all over town to do it. They should be paying closer to $30/hr to account for all your expenses.

I've done two blocks so far and I'm in a very rural area. In fact, I had no cell service at all for over half the route on the last one. The circle thing was an issue. I was standing on the porch but it was telling me the radius was in the lake 50 feet away. I couldn't call due to no service and had to fidget with the app a bit to set a new pin. That was a real pain tbh and wasted around 10 minutes each time it happened. Still, after expenses were accounted for including gas, oil change, tire use and miles on the car were factored in, it was over $25 an hour for a fun scenic drive around the lake.

    • @YourDriverMike

Are you sure you're accounting for total cost of operation of your vehicle for the miles driven?
All maintenance, depreciation, fuel and any additional insurance you wouldn't otherwise have.
According to AAA, new cars can cost over 70 cents per mile and that was a while ago.
For the tax year 2023, the deduction is 65.5 cents per mile.
In 2018 it was costing me a quarter per mile to operate a 10 year old Odyssey which I only paid $6400 for.
That was with me doing all my own repairs except state inspections, alignments and tire mounting and balancing.
If I paid myself labor or had to pay an auto service technician I think it would come much closer to the allowable deduction.
I have a spreadsheet I made in Excel which accounts for all this when I plug in the numbers for each shift and typically it's close to $10 an hour to operate the vehicle.
Or at least it was last time I checked.

Here in Pennsylvania just about a couple months ago we were getting consistent three hour blocks for $130 and then about a month ago they introduced a brand new warehouse and the warehouse told me that they just let a bunch of new flex drivers on board. Now you can barely find any work at all and most of the time Amazon will just throw out whatever kind of loan numbers and if people except those numbers ahead of time basically Amazon doesn’t have to drop the price again and that’s exactly what has been happening now there’s basically hardly any work at all so looks like too many people found out about Amazon Flex and the magic is all gone now, the best thing I can tell people is if you live in a community where there’s not a lot of land around like out in the country area you probably will always have work, but if you live in the city with lots of people, you probably won’t get many orders

I just quit driving for Amazon Flex in Toledo, Oh. I rarely have less than 40 packages to deliver in a 3hr-4hr blocks and they were primarily all out in rural areas. Most days I would be able to finish on time but there were times I wouldn't finish on time especially if I had a 3hr shift. If I didn't finish delivering I would be dinged and if I would deliver past my time until all of the packages were delivered I would be dinged. I always had issues in Toledo, Oh taking me down in my driving status. I quit with them the other day and finally had enough. I worked Amazon Flex when I lived in Arizona never had an issue. $72 - $51 = $21 BEFORE having to pay taxes at the end of the year. So looking at maybe $17-$18 total profit for a 3.5 hour shift. So an average of $5.15 an hour? Even if you consider the $51 mileage a write off I question if this is a sustainable wage. But it can get you by. Just have to remember to save for your tax bill.

    • @ianpursel2453
      @ianpursel2453 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

That 51 is miles not dollars. But, I don't think he factored in fuel cost in the total. And you should pay your car in cent per mile, to go to a maintenance fund for oil changes and car repairs. And probably should factor in insurance cost. Take those out, then you have your net total. He probably spent around 5 to 7 bucks on fuel, and I would put .13 to .15 cpm for car maintenance fund. So yea he probably spent 10 to 15 on gas, car, and other expenses. So he net about 57 to 62 dollars.

Here’s who may still claim mileage on taxes:
    • Small business owners. Self-employed taxpayers who file Schedule C or Schedule F.
    • Other self-employed workers. This includes independent contractors, such as drivers for rideshare services.
For rideshare drivers, such as Uber or Lyft, this means the drive from home to pick up the first passenger and the drive home after the last drop off are not deductible. Only the trips driven between the first business stop and the subsequent stops can be used for claiming mileage on your taxes.

i hate delivering for amazon they pay you by shift could be 30 packages as it can be 40 packages or more when i first started no one wanted to explain to me for the first 3 shifts i was lost until a girl kind of helped me i learned everything on my own its not worth it ad they give you packages for a 3am shift and its to businesses that are not open then you have to go back to the warehouse to return it they have to do better you got lucky getting 28 packages they over stack you if they are behind on some packages not delivered the day before its not worth it unless they give you the actul pay with the amount of packages and the area of the route i stopped driving with them

With flex are you able to cash out your earnings after completing your 'block'? I've signed up but I'm not sure if it will be worth it for me. ATM I need to be able to cash out daily (sometimes multiple times a day) which is why I love UberEATS. But like doordash, UberEATS, and I'm sure Amazon flex do not pay great at all. Someone driving a V8 pickup truck should be getting higher paying orders than someone driving a dam scooter or Tesla, IMO.

Pssst! Don’t you think it’s safer to organize your packages on the warehouses property? I used to pull over down the street or go to a gas station to organize a packages, I always got a lot of looks. And felt uneasy. I feel like it’s probably a risk and a robbery waiting to happen.

Flex is not worth it tbh, the pandora's box of mystery for routes is way too much of a hassle to determine whether or not you'll be spawning today either close or far, then the number of packages, along with what are you dealing with, because christ I can't stand apartments in Downtown areas, they're the worst!

Also we are not allowed to work 7 days a week nether so be careful on what days you want to do flex if some of your other gigs pay better on specific day's

My area 3am 4am ish batches the roads are clear they don't give you many if at all the places you need special access and not as hot out. I try to get the $26hr to $38hr+ batches, hard part for me has been getting constant times am wise even if its not high pay its at least $21 ish just hard to get every day. Way I see it is do this first then the others as most the others are not active and or don't offer good amounts. After doing flex you have rest the day to hit 300+

@@free2beme375 just try it out. for me it wasn't worth the headache and gas prices in az were like 6 bucks a gallon at the time and they had me going all over the place to random neighborhoods so it wasn't like i was just dropping packages in a one area i would take one package to a gated community and pray i could get in. most of the time i was guessing the code 1978 which is a popular one, but i think that is just an az problem where half the neighborhoods are gated. So at the end of the day i wasn't making enough for it to be worth it. not to mention how hard it is to get a block. you have to sit and press refresh over and over and whoever pressed it first gets the block. they say after a certain time you get a reserved block for the area you want but that is a lie. i would have to drive to a warehouse 30 miles from my house and then they would send me another 30 miles further away from home. if you live in a big capitol city it would be more viable, but questionably not worth the headache still.. a lot of stuff will be labeled wrong so you will be searching for an envelope when it turns out to be a box. anyways if you need some cash right now i would give it a try it could be a fun adventure/learning experience while you look for something better. the one plus i would say is that you have the freedom to sort of pick your shift. and you could do an early shift and a later shift to make some extra money. but getting that second shift is not easy i wasn't able to always get the 2nd shift as it will be limited to a 3 hour block and you'll; have to be refreshing a million times throughout the day.. i said i did it once actually i ended up doing it for like 3 months you end up running your car into the ground and not making enough to fix it or get a new one so i see it as a dead end. this is just my opinion an experience. maybe it would be different for someone else.
